Thanks for this. I followed your guide and was able to swap a chipped lens in my Ray-ban Wayfarers when two opticians said it couldn't be done. Had to remove the arms, but that was no hassle and used a hair dryer. Wouldn't have had the confidence without your guide how. Much appreciated.
Hi. Thanks for this video ... especially the second removal to show that it isn't that easy, lol. I ended up having to carefully use a Dremel and a heat gun to get the lens out. New lens was easy to install just some heating like you presented and I now have my RayBans back! Thanks.
thanks for the video ! I used the water method . The water cooled pretty fast when I put the sunglasses in so I had to reheat the water a few times but once the frames got up to temp the old cracked glass came out in one piece. Then I reheated the water and submerged the frame again and then installed the new lens. Popped right in.
pushing out from the bottom is working great compared to pushing from the corner/bridge. Thank you so much for the tip, It went perfectly in after drawning in 80°c water for 30'sec.
Hi. Thanks for that video. One question- does the heat from hairdryer damage the lenses? I have noticed some ppl advise to remove the lenses before heating the frame.
One of the hardest things to do! I did the hairdryer method and burned my fingers! Nothing easy about this, I got the lense in by trying different approaches/ entry points for each lense!
First, I want to thank you for creating the video but OMG, was this a pain to do. I had two pairs with damage to the opposite lenses so I figured out of two I would make one. I thought that the water method would be the easiest but I had no luck with that even though the water was approaching boiling and the glasses were so hot that the heat from the lense was coming through my leather work gloves. The hair dryer seemed to work better and I was able to remove one of the lenses with what I about as much pressure as I expected but I couldn't get the cracked one out to save my life. Since the lense was already cracked a small hammer solved that problem. Putting in the new one was a nightmare and took me almost 45 minutes of heating and pressure and finally I used the corner of a wood cutting board to snap in the last corner of the lense. Acetate
No I wouldn’t heat up plastic lenses using this method you could damage them. But the good news here is all original Ray-Ban wayfarer sunglasses have glass lenses
This was impossible for me. With some difficulty, I was able to remove the old lenses. But then I broke one of the new lenses while trying to insert it.
Hi, if u needed to replace Lenses in your vintage b&L raybans? What wld u use Glass or the modern plastic Lens ? Can u recommend where to get good lenses at good prices . If you put modern plastic lens in vintage wayfarer will it impact the value down ? Thanks for help 👍
When I purchased my Italian manufactured Ray Ban Wayfarers, my optometrist told me every persons' face is *not* symmetrical. He stated that the temples would be higher or lower, depending... but anyways, a hot-air soldering station would allow heated air to be projected in a very small area to do exactly what you are trying to accomplish. Be careful !
Thanks so much. It worked for me. I dipped them in very hot water for a few minutes, then used the hair dryer. The frame was very hot and I could barely touch it. It was tricky but with some patience it worked.
You can buy authentic replacement Ray-Ban Lenses here: amzn.to/4e0MWnI
Hot water method worked great! Had my lenses replaced in less than ten minutes. Thanks!

You grab my attention with that hair dryer...
I thought you were going to use the hammer method. 😂
Nice work

Awesome glad the video could help out Steve!
@@ShadeReviewThe glasses would work if we put on lens of our own choice?
Thanks a lot mate. Just put some new lenses in a second hand pair that were prescription. Sweeeet.
Thank you! I was able to successfully switch parts to the other ray bans!
Glad the video could help!
Worked for me surprisingly. I thought I'd break something for sure
Perfect instructions!
Thank you very much, your tutorial was the most helpful 🙏 my lenses were a bit stubborn but with the heat, it worked!
Awesome glad the video was helpful for you Lara!
Where did u purchase the replacement lens

I didn't even need to heat... just massage the bottom with a little pressure and voilá.. =)
Thanks this worked, i just put it in water and pushed them out, my glasses are stylr 4226 so might be a bit easier than the wayfarer
Glad the video was helpful!
Thanks so much for making this video it was much need!

Will the heat damaged polarized lenses?
One of the hardest things to do! I did the hairdryer method and burned my fingers! Nothing easy about this, I got the lense in by trying different approaches/ entry points for each lense!
Very helpful, thanks.
No problem thanks for watching Delta!

A much needed tutorial.
Is the same steps for glass lenses and plastic lenses?
Can this process be applied to aviators (metal frames)?
No I wouldn’t heat up plastic lenses using this method you could damage them.
But the good news here is all original Ray-Ban wayfarer sunglasses have glass lenses

honestly thought that was a hammer at first... expected this to be satire haha
Thank you, I will try this

Where can we order ray ban lenses for sunglasses with the Rayna logo?
Sir, does this method work with Ray-Ban reading glasses? Thank you.
This is good to know but where would someone buy authentic Ray Ban replacement lens?
You can call them up directly buy them
obviously from the pair you sat down on while getting in your car.
Is that the original wayfarer you used?
Yes the original RB2149 wayfarer
Although you made it more easier and more helpful I scratched up the frames but I see you did too so I guess it’s basically just inevitable. 🤷♂️
Brother can I turn off the ray ban lights please answer me if we broke the lens can it's fine or not?
Tnx for a simple vid
It's certainly much easier to do with metal frames.
Definitely haha
Aviators ftw 😎
Are the Original wayfarer lens the same shape/size of the folding one? Can I swap between the two?
Folding, Ease and Wayfarer Original have the same glass lenses

Re: your last question, yes, switching from B&L glass lenses to polycarbonate ones will likely ruin the value.
Will this work on vintage sunglasses?
Yes but I wouldn’t do it because old frames can be A little bit brittle and you can easily break them
Is that g15 lens?
Yes it is
Can i do this trick to rayban stories as well?
Hi, do you use the Ray-Ban Stories as prescription? I love these but was told I can't get my prescription in them? Thnx
Is this applicable for matte frames?
Just broked mines i do have matte

Ray Ban 2184 One temple on the glasses is higher than the other, how to fix this?
