    By the time all that handwork is done, that is about a $120 watch strap and then you put it on a $40 Casio, lol. Seriously, this was fascinating to watch for me. I've been wanting to get started doing this kind of work and this was super helpful.

      It's quite the juxtaposition.
      Last month, I "went on down to the local Walmart" and bought a $20 black Casio Illuminator and drafted a template in CorelDraw for a 20mm padded strap with 2.7mm spaced French style irons. Two thoughtfully places holes (tight, loose) for the adjustment get punched manually after everything is said and done.
      I used Weinheimer Leder's Waprolux in black for the exterior (>1mm,

    Beautifully recorded video and master leather working! Quick question, if you wanted the saddle stitching to angle the opposite direction, would you just change the order of which side you thread first, as well as which arms pull up vs. down as you close the stitch? Or do you also have to have the pricking holes angled the opposite direction as well? Thanks!

    • @jholden0
      @jholden0 Рік тому

      You can buy obverse punches to angle the opposite direction. Otherwise you could punch from the backside of the strap to get the opposite direction.

    Hi. I'm just wondering, why are two different leathers always used on watch bands? Why can't the same leather be used in two layers?

    • @HectorDigos
      @HectorDigos 9 місяців тому

      Two layers because, many people have different allergic reactions to animal skin. The layer that touches our skin,is usually friendlier man made scientifically proven not to do harm to us.

    • @ScottMcCormick12358
      @ScottMcCormick12358 4 місяці тому

      One concern is the total thickness. Sometimes a thinner leather on the liner allows a thicker top layer.

    • @asterisk606
      @asterisk606 Місяць тому

      It can be. There is a construction style of watch straps that consists of a single long piece folded onto itself. There is usually an inner layer for comfort, allergies, style, controlling thickness, sweat resistance, etc.
