Miyako and Midori are of course amazing. And Kanami of Band-Maid is also isanely talented. But Haruka is not only my favourite female Japanese guitarist, she is probably my favourite guitarist full stop. Not only for her speed, passion and technical skill, but for her songwriting as well. And Dawn is probably her magnum opus. It is without a doubt the song I have listened to the most this last decade. A proper masterpiece. If you want another good one, try _Church,_ from their progressive concept album _Guernica+a_ (2021).
'Dawn' is one of my favorites. HAL-CA has more Rock 'n' Roll in her little finger than most musicians have in both hands. ASTERISM have also done a lot of cover songs from anime, including a 9 song EP called 'Animetic'. Their new song “Crescendo” has been chosen as the opening theme for the TV anime "Even Given the Worthless “Appraiser” Class, I'm Actually the Strongest”!' That's the first time one of their original songs is going to be used for an anime series. Hope the show does well. : )
Hal-Ca and Miyu had homework they had to do after this set (16 y. o.) just think about that, can't drive or drink but can melt your brain with their insane talent. LIVE in a small venue and this 3 piece band sounded like a massive wall of sound with wicked playing. Miyu and that 7 string custom made ESP bass (only one of a kind) fills out everything that Hal-Ca couldn't play ....... LOL!!!!
For my money, Hal-ca is the best shredder on the planet. She has the speed and technicality of Steve Vai with the passion of Santana. The music just flows from the depths of her soul. once you've listened to a couple of songs from the _Guernica+a_ album (most likely _Gunfire_ and/or _Church_ ), here's an experience for you: briefly familiarize yourself with the timeline of the Bombing of Guernica, and then listen to the whole album start to finish. they really outdid themselves with the composition -- amazingly thoughtful.
