New York has so much to offer outside of Manhattan. That's why I love being a subscriber to this channel cause you show parts of the city that don't often get a lot of attention. I've been living in NYC for 4 years now and I always go out of my way to explore the boroughs.
We can always count on Action Kid to go through all NYC not just Manhattan. I haven’t been to Fordham Road since I was in my late 20s. My sister lives in the Bronx and goes often. Anyway thank you for the walk 👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾
It's amazing to see that the recruiting station is still on Fordham Road and the Concourse! It was there when I was growing up in the Bronx in the 60s. Of course, back then, behind the recruiting station was one of the best places to shop in the Bronx, Alexander's department store. It's always so much fun to walk with you, Kenneth, when you're in New York and, specifically, when you return to the Bronx.
It's nostalgic to hear the ice cream truck music at the beginning. 🙂 Nice to see all the shops on Fordham Road, and the streets were so busy! I really enjoy how you cover the different boroughs in NYC. 😎 Thank you for sharing this walk, AK! 🤗
Thank you so much for your walking tour. I live in Florida now, but my heart will always be with my boogie down borough. It’s my home. Because of videos like yours, I can still go back home even if it’s through UA-cam.
I used to live very close to the Grand Concourse and my family used to do almost all of their shopping on Fordham Road. Used to go to Alexander's, Sears and Woolworths. Also used to go to Shipman's and the toy store that was across the street from the Loew's Paradise. Also used to go to the movies a lot there as well. All the places I used to love there went away a long time ago. It still looks mostly the same, but it changed a lot. I haven't been there in a couple of years and I don't know if I'll come there again.
You know that the 8 Thrid Avenue Elevated line used to run there on Fordam plaza right where the 8 crosses the New York central metro North getting to Gun hill road connecting to the 2 5 trains 🚃.
Many yrs ago Alexander's used to be the place to shop on Fordham Rd. The corner of Grand Concourse & Fordham. It's so funny to see a Target 🤔. That is a suburban store. Sears used to be on the corner of Fordham & Webster Ave now its a Best Buy. And Krispy Kreme donuts, that's southern. When I moved to NC yrs ago that's all people down here ate, now Krispy Kreme is nationwide. I still prefer Dunkin' Donuts. Wow have things changed. Thanks for sharing.
Love Fordham Rd ,use to shop there a lot. Have not been there is probably 20 years. The closest I’ve been recently is the Brong zoo, which is technically straight down the block.
@@ActionKid Its alot of content on Morris park and white plains road going south towards castle hill and soundview. When you come to morris park let me kno so I can come outside xD
I didn't know they opened a target and I live near fordham lol. I'm glad they did since the other target is a bit further so this can be convenient even though I dont mind walking a lot to the other one.
11:06- _This_ is a subway station (entrance) in New York? It looks like one in Toronto (well, one of the newer ones in the newer extension to Line 1 [the Yonge University line.]) It also reminds me of a midtown district here in Toronto as well, with the big new building at 12:11. on the next corner (only we don't have a lot of street vendors selling clothes.)
it can be debated that it's an even toss up between fordham rd and 149'st on 3'rd ave where most bronx residents would do their shopping , fordham had a lot of small independent little shops and the big pull was sears and 149'th st offered almost all the same except for many 149'st was found more affordable
1:15-I'm so surprised to see a TD Bank branch in New York-it makes me feel as if I'm in Toronto. What's next, Scotiabank or Royal Bank setting up shop in New York?
When you said we would be surprised where you would turn up next I said it's either Staten Island or the Bronx.😎❗glad to see you in my birth place. ( I used to live on teller avenue)
Wow I was raised in the Bronx from age 5 to age 16 then I moved to Rhode Island and I think that big store in the corner that is under construction I think the store K-mark use to be there and a home phone company I think it was bell Atlantic and probably a electric and gas company there to and other shopping stores because it was a big building but I don’t leave there so I don’t know what’s in the building now but I use to leave in Jerome and tremont ave pluse I attended the taff high school till 9 grade then I moved
Lots of street vendors and great shops , but must be chaotic on those narrow sidewalks sometimes i guess, either way great video😎therefore thank you for sharing A K 🙂👍!!!
Wow. Someone actually selling piragua! 3:56 You don't really see it anymore in the Bronx not like when I was little. Might have to make a trip back to Fordham even though I haven't been in years, just to get some piragua lol.
I moved to the Bronx Belmont area, Crotona ave and 182nd was were i moved to my senior year of High school. HUGE CULTURE SHOCK moving from LA cali to the Bronx but it was dope af and 😂very one was cool with me called me Cali and showed me love till I moved when I was 21 so I was there for 4 years and fordham road was dope 💯 cool spots for shoes to buy like Jordan’s and shit we didn’t have spots like that in LA
Cam’ron brought me here, said Jordan Poole was a munch for paying Ice Spice $500k for a date when she’s from Fordham Road. I had to see it for myself! lol 😂
...people are hurting all over, This is New York need I say more. It breaks my heart to see so many areas that obviously has people who are struggling, how is this possible in what was the greatest city of all time. This isn't living your best life, is it just me that noticed the pain on the faces of people walking. My heart breaks 💔 😢
Sweaty don't be so nagitive, NYC is and will always be the greatest city on earth so if u have any issues blame it on the devil who is totally real, everyplace people are hurting they are hurting in every city big or small this is America they got the devil in them and they just don't care
The Bronx , what an exciting and vibrant place to live . Lots of people just enjoying the last of the warm weather shopping, eating out and motorcycle riding in groups a happy place 😀 thanks AK 💛 it .
The Grand Concourse was the "Park Ave" of the Bronx with many Theaters along the Concourse and on Fordham Road. After the theater my friends and l would drive to "Jahn"s Ice Cream Parlor" for a "kitchen sink Sundae" which we would share, since they were so big. After that we would walk around and look at the shops with no fear of any harm coming to us. l am so thankful to have experience that life before this country became the hell hole it is today. l am so sorry for those who are not able to get out, but then again they are the ones who make it what it is today!!!!!
The Florida sucks guy was funny. The Bronx is nice and really nice day. NYC is awesome Florida is awesome. Where you go AK we will have a good time. I'll stay tuned 😏
Pure trash anything goes on Fordham road nowadays. Think the city gave up on the area.the better class moved away many many years ago. Now, Fordham road when my mom was Shopping there 80 yrs ago with her Mother you shopped and got out . And good Old Grand concourse was Grand supreme. this generation have no idea how it was like back then even myself i could look back 50yrs ago when that was the place to go to for Shopping.
I know exactly what’s going on. The local governments have been listening to small and large businesses, alike, complaints of employee vacancies since the pandemic. The solution is to allow the “immigrants” fill those positions. Thus you have bustling street vendor scene and construction has picked up too.
The Actionkid avoiding sold out Yankee stadium 🏟 .. it would be nice to see Aaron Judge make history but it's a tough 🎟 to come buy. Let's Go Yankees !!

@@ActionKid homeless shelters in Detroit aren't good I'm in Ann Arbor which is a college town.
Yes that's right
Fordham Road and Grand Concourse in The Bronx reminds me of Downtown Brooklyn a lot.

There’s been a lot of changes in the Bronx. I’ve heard stories of the Alexander’s and Krispy Kreme has been popping up everywhere lately!
After alexander, it became caldor department store.
That town looks like absolute mayhem.

I saw John F Kennedy campaigning for president on Fordham Road and the Grand Concourse when I was a young girl 🇺🇸🤩
Wow haven't seen Fordham Rd in years. Man it was busy. This always reminded me of Steinway st. Thanks for the walk and memories 👍 You Rock.
It’s very similar to Steinway Street in Astoria
Fordham Road and Webster Avenue in The Bronx reminds me of the Atlantic Terminal Mall in Downtown Brooklyn.
Nice... I had a great time... thanks...

Have a wonderful day and thank for sharing video! 🗽❤️🗽❤️👍
actionkid, do you think it is safe to go up there? Never thought I'd go but looks pretty safe from your videos!
It's relatively safe, I reside in MA but I used to frequent Fordham Rd years ago. Just use good judgment and go during daylight hours.
Yes, it’s reasonably safe. Just use your judgement.
Yea I was thinking the same thing. God must be protecting him.
14:26 I went to that High School!!!

I moved to Texas four years ago. I miss New York dearly but I don't miss the crime. One thing's for sure there is no place like New York.
So did you move back to NY?
That's where the street vendors belong...on the street and Not in neighborhoods bugging people
My parents use to l8ve near by ...east king bridge ...now pass and was refused visa...any one can help
AK…can you contact Walks & Wall Street. His social media has been blank since last night. Unlike him.
