We were not a fan of Crocketts. My husband said the icing was off on the cinnamon roll. Maybe we will have to try again. Hope your weekend is great. God bless.

It's been several years since we've actually gotten a cinnamon roll, due to the size of them, and the fact that we are so full after breakfast. I don't really remember much about the icing. But we really do love their food.

Great place!! I have been there several times. I really love the decor in there. It is definitely smoky mountains. The cinnamon rolls and the griddle cakes are HUGE!! You are right. they are different. I enjoyed my breakfast and experience there every time. Thanks for another great review. I always appreciate your honest assessment. We can always trust you to share with us what you really think. That helps is to decide of we would want to go to a place or not. I felt like I was right there with you. It really makes me miss the smokies. With the decor and the music. That is a great.tradition to go there every year on labor day weekend when you go on your annual Cades Cove camping trip. Before you go camping you have to eat at a breakfast camp. 😊

Yes, that is correct...It just wouldn't be camping, if we didn't need eat at a breakfast camp.
Glad you have gotten to eat there and have always enjoyed your experiences, as well. The cinnamon rolls are huge, and probably one of the reasons we didn't get them, is that the breakfasts themselves are big enough to fill us up for several hours.
      Thank you for watching!

A suggestion to soften the hard butter faster------put some on your plate and take your fork and mash and mix it up....will bring it back to room temp much faster and make it easier to spread. We went to Crockett's right after they first opened. Not knowing how big the breakfast plates were.....we each ordered one of the skillets. We ate on it for days! lol! The pancake mix they use can be bought at any local Food City stores.....it's called "Aretha Frankenstein" pancake mix. It has Cream of Wheat in it. I love those pancakes....we make them all the time here at home. I'd say it's time for us to make another trip to Crocketts! Hope ya'll have a great camping trip in the cove.....and a great Labor Day weekend! 👍

Thank you so much for watching! I'll have to let her know to look for those pancakes in the store, as she's the pancake eater.
Yes, I guess that would soften the butter faster. It just seems to me, that they could let the butter sit out before serving it rock hard like that.

Hello...unrelated to this video but I have a question. If it remember correctly you've stayed at the SiestaKey Beach Resort on Ocean Blvd correct? Are there any recommendations on what rooms one should look at?
We have a VRBO booked but with Terri's bad knee I'm looking for something closer to the Village area and beach access

    • @NCMemoryMakers
      @NCMemoryMakers  11 днів тому

Pretty much all of the rooms there, are near The Village and have essentially the same walking distance to the beach.
In fact, The Village actually starts right out at the corner sidewalk in front of the motel. The section where the office is located, would be slightly closer to the beach. There is actually a street that goes down in between the 2 sections. But either way, you basically just have to walk across the road and out to the beach.
With her knee, you might just mainly ask for something downstairs, as they do not have any elevators to the upstairs area. We always get Room 107, but we used to get Room 216, which had a kitchenette, which they later took out when they remodeled. But it was upstairs.
They generally don't take requests for specific rooms, but only room categories. However, if they are not already booked, they might accommodate. They always do us, because we usually put the reservation for next year in before we even leave, and we've been coming for such a long time. It certainly would not hurt to ask.
I don't really have a lot of experience with many of the other rooms, except #128. Avoid that one at all costs..... no place to even hang your clothes. I had to use the TV mounting arm to hang up my collared shirts. And the bathroom is about as small as one could be.
We've also had Room 124, which is out by the pool. There's an A and B, and I honestly don't remember for sure, which we had. But if I had to guess, I'd say it was B. We really liked it. It had a little living room area to watch TV in, that was separate from the bedroom. The room we get now, does not have that.
If you happen to call to make your reservation, asked to speak with Eric or Alejandra, as both have helped us in the past, but Eric more so. He would know us by our names. Not our UA-cam channel, but by our first and last name, and that we come every year and have 107.
He would probably be able to advise you on a room that would accommodate your needs.

@genehinders9639 Yes, there are several rooms in that category. Some are in the two-story building and downstairs, and the others are in the side single-level units. I would think that 124B would be in that category. That's the only poolside we've had, but we really liked it.

That is a big pet peave with us at many breakfast places the butter is rock hard. Can’t spread it on pancakes easily as well as toast. Pancake pantry has the bowl of butter you can see while you’re dining there. How difficult can it be to set the butter out before you open to get soft.

Great review! I hope the camping was fun. Despite the urgings of my paternal grandmother to "discover God's World" (She was saving to buy me a tent when she passed when I was eight...) and go camping, I didn't get to go for the first time until I was 21. Ham radio Field Day weekend. As for the butter, would you believe that I've been places where the butter is actually served frozen? Seriously! You would think that restaurants would serve less expensive "whipped table spread", rather than butter. "Spread", by FDA definition must be spreadable at 70 degrees F. And, by being called "spread" doesn't have to contain dairy products. (Cheap!) And, by being whipped, contains that inexpensive zero calorie ingredient called "air". What's funny is that it seems most people actually prefer the artificial, imitation, facsimile rather than the real stuff. Your comment about country ham might explain in part why it's not often seen on restaurant menus. It can be tricky to cook. But, I always have some in my fridge at the house. I've yet to go to Gatlinburg. I went to Pigeon Forge last year for the first time to honor the memory of a cousin whom I was close to who for many years went several times a year and raved about it. While it'll never replace the Eastern Sierra Nevada nor Los Angeles for my vacations, it does make a nice quick getaway. While it's nice that it's such a family friendly vacation destination -especially with lots of things for couples and families to do together, those of us who are alone in this world are a bit left-out. What really bums me out is the plethora of moonshine places! I have nothing against people drinking in moderation and not hurting themselves, their families, or anyone else, But, both PF and (from what I've seen in videos) Gatlinburg overdo it quite a bit on the merchandising. As always, I enjoy the gentle warmth and humor that are in your videos. PSE continue! God Bless!

      That should work, shouldn't it?
We don't generally eat at a lot of chain restaurants when we're on vacation. We kind of like to broaden our horizons a bit, and have an experience that is fitting of the area we are in.
I'm honestly not even sure why you would feel the need to come on our video and just try to argue about breakfast places. I hope your day gets better. Personally, I have too many other comments to answer, to sit here and argue with you about Crockett's.

    • @NCMemoryMakers
      @NCMemoryMakers  9 днів тому

@f150bft Okay, I have to respond to this, and I will try to be respectful since you seem to be trying to. Somewhat, at least.
I did not say I had too high standards to eat at a chain restaurant. You're twisting what I said. I said we try not to eat at chain restaurants when we are on vacation.
The clear reason behind that, is that we don't want to eat what we can get at home, when we are somewhere else. We want to try something that is tied in with that area.
And lots of people feel the same way. They want to eat something on vacation that they can't get at home.
I never said we don't eat at chain restaurants. In fact, had you read closely, I said the opposite. I said that we have eaten at Shoney's many times. Did you miss that?
So obviously, if we have eaten at Shoney's many times, then we have eaten at chain restaurants.
I did not put down where you eat. You contacted us first being critical, remember? I didn't come on any of your videos and ask why you went to Shoney's. You came on ours, telling us why we shouldn't go to Crockett's.
It was you who said that Crockett's food was no better, and even probably not as good, as Shoney's. So, like you said, it is "only fair" that I would reply to that.
I believe Crockett's food is great. And there's nothing about Shoney's, that gives you the feel of being in the Smokies.
What I said to you, was I do not know why some people just feel the need to come on someone else's video and try to put a wet blanket on it. You're not the only one. There are people that just feel the need to do that, for whatever reason. I think it's ridiculous.
You have every right to eat where you want to, and I sincerely hope you enjoy it. But why do you have to come on our video when we're trying to do a food review so that people can know what they want to try when they come, and try to just be negative for no good reason?
What is the benefit of that?
I'm sorry to have to reply like this, but you won't let it go. You're not going to twist what happened here. You came on our video first, being negative. I replied. Then, you come back saying I put down where you eat, which is absolutely false. I can't just let that go by.
Now, I'm going to say one final thing....We want people to watch our videos and enjoy them. You don't even have to like a place where we eat. But occasionally, we have people who never say anything at all, unless it's a criticism. Those are not the kind of people we want on our channel. We want people who can enjoy the videos, and be respectful of us. We hope you can be that person, instead of the one who is always trying to criticize something. Because that's not what we're looking for here.
