@@decouplemedia Decouple Media should be compulsory viewing for everyone at the New Zealand Climate Change Commission. It would give them a hard Reality Check to burst their Magical GroupThink bubble 🤔
@@decouplemedia May I suggest that you make contact with Bret Weinstein, Dark horse podcast, I'm pretty certain he would want to do a podcast on the energy subject If I see you there then I will pat myself on my own back, because I believe I will have achieved something good in this crazy century! 👍🌅
I'm from two years in the future (nov. 2023), praying for a mild winter, and another mild winter after that, worked ... we shall pray for a third mild winter
This is a WONDERFUL resource !!! I grew up with natural gas, drummed into me by my parents, and when I purchased my first house, I would only look at homes supplied by natural gas (and a tie to the current discussion -- there is "donut" of NO natural gas resulting from the local authorities having declared a moratorium on new natural gas connections for ten years, following the shortages that occurred in the winter of the '73-'74 "Arab Oil Embargo"). Then, in 2003 we suffered much power outage from hurricane Isabel - though we had a generator - many neighbors were chucking their spoiled food from silent/dark refrigerators, and burning candles. I was determined in the aftermath, to convert as much of my energy consumption to natural gas: gas refrigeration, gas hot water, gas forced air, indoor gas lighting, gas fireplace, gas grill. But have more than localized Big Power problems - enough to affect pumping of natural gas - and our house will be screwed.
What was the original date on which this show was made? I'm assuming it was before the Nordstream pipelines were destroyed. Not sure if it was produced before the start of the Russian fullscale invasion or not, as that had a big impact on oil and gas prices too.
You can let the pod run to 3 hours I think people will love it. You like to tightly direct the conversation too, which you do well but I wonder if it isn't ultimately better to let the guest lead and just talk until they've said everything. Nelson pretty much does that anyways lol but your other guests don't get to unfold themselves fully sometimes I feel.
I wish you would have add-in cheap nuclear into the conversation and how that would affect the market. Thorcon Power will be building MSR's for less than coal plants and they take only 2 years to get on the grid. This solves the financial problem of nuclear which is both capital cost and financing cost. Of course, the NRC will make sure the US doesn't build any but the rest of the world can.
Two years ago most of what an ordinary citizen was allowed to know was bldy appalling, so hearing Mark straighten out half the Engineering story is fabulous.

Gas has epic marketing. Calling it "natural" like its good is a master stroke of marketing. Then NORM - Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material. Or the stuff that the gas industry toss over the side & don't measure for "reasons". Also don't measure methane leeks from well head to end user.
It’s just a technical term that stuck. Contrast with LPG - liquified petroleum gas, the propane/butane cylinders ranging from cigarette lighters to huge tanks for household and business use
I think it has nothing to do with marketing. Manufactured (synthetic) fuel gases were first, and it was quite logical to name new player as natural gas.
$140/MWh. Try $260/MWh in thr UK average for 2022.... The gas crisis of 2022 in Europe really hit our wealth here. Governments borrowed to pay for this, so we will be paying it off for 20 years So yeah gas is cheap Until its very expensive At least for Europe
This man is inflating the Natural Gas cost to make Nuclear Power look good. I am pro Nuclear but don't skew the numbers. I also worked at 2 Combine Cycle Power Plants . Natural Gas does pollute the air but what about Nuclear waste ???
New title suggestion: Meeting of the staches. 🤪
Great discussion!
Really good discussion. I dont understand why this channel does not have even more viewers

Not enough STEM grads out there.

August 2024 - Scotland - also praying still 😮
We now have full stortages. We do not need to pray.
Everytime you guys get together I learn so much.
I was searching: “gas hole pumping mustached men,” and this is what I got.
Well you found the treasure😂

Nice to see you finally getting to interview yourself!
How many will die of energy managements failures this winter in Europe compared to total nuclear energy deaths since inception?

Another mind-blowing, mind-opening conversation. Wow!

In talking about high gas prices, could they have imagined that 13 months later, Nordstream would be blown up?!

Great! You spoke the truth.
Good talk.
Thank you.

The viewing requires analysis skills and acquiring knowledge. Few teachers have the time or interest for that.
🤯
Very true.
Ahh but the cat is listening to the Trump speach about Springfield
Genuinely interesting, keep it up...

how did that Nordstrom pipeline explosion impact the enviromental models?
Brilliant ! Except for the use of a unit used in only 1 country ;-)
Good thing it's far and away the biggest country.
The weather gods were kind. This time.
One year on and only Germany holds out on phasing out nuclear.
I need to grow a moustache, looking good men 🎉
33:50 I think the global economy is screwed going forward. We are fooked.
Would banning Gas speculators from the market help the end user?
Maybe int he short term.
At some point discuss methane hydrates as a potential new source of NG?
So good. Those moustaches are great too. 😂
Great moustaches.
Thank you! We do our best
