Many stores sell big "table lights" and LED strip lights for various holidays, in pretty much every color, at least in the U.S. There have been people who have bought red and blue ones and attached them to their vehicles. In extreme weather, and especially at night, it's very hard to distinguish between those types of lights and an actual police car. You call 911 and explain your situation, explaining that you will pull over at/in the first heavily populated area - rest stop on highways, 24-hour store/restaurant in cities, whatever you happen across first. While the number IS low, it is still a semi-common "scam". Usually it's just a car-jacking, but there have been enough who have lost their lives to this trick to worry about it! MOST bigger cities allow this, and will report to the officer what is going on. They're usually pretty cool with it as long as you're not speeding/driving erratically. And if emergency services do find out it's not actually an officer, they will send one to your location. ALWAYS be aware of your surroundings!! (This goes double - or even triple - for those traveling in unfamiliar cities, especially if traveling solo.) "Buzzed"/drunk or on drugs and making that call, of course, you're going to suffer some repercussions - as one should - but it's still better to pay a fine than pay with your life!

("YOU Better Be Careful, Young Man/Lady! I Know Very Important People! AND I PAY YOUR SALARY!"
i called the police because i had lost my presto card and was stranded in another town. IN MY DEFENCE it was getting dark and i had no money my phone was gonna die, i was 16 and had snuck out so nobody woulda known i was even over there. 😭 the officer that picked me up was so annoyed BUT THE ALTERNATIVE WAS MAYBE GET ABDUCTED? so yeah embarrassing as hell but i called 🫣🫣
