Great videos Sam, such a simple design with funky marketing floating feature, but just lasted .

Look at the pretty floaty Hoovers... I think this instalment needs a subtitle of "Ow! OW!!" on it!! Great work, as usual, my friend. x

Thanks! Although a squirt of oil is reasonably all you need to do, the washing of fans and cleaning of seals is what makes them hover like they should! Needs the original airflow, sadly their like Dyson. Fine when their within spec, awful when that drops by 20% (5% for Dyson 😂). Can always tell by how sanded smooth and paint free the bottom is....

Very comprehensive video Sam. Very good quality photography, what camera are you using?
I like the way you do the filming with no pointless annoying special effects that some youtubers feel the need to add to their videos.
I agree with your comments about the models they are my favourite Hoover cylinder machines, simple and with superb suction, it’s all you need.
I hope you don’t mind a couple of points.
You mentioned the sleeve bearing may be the same as the junior but it is different.
The other thing is fitting the hose. Originally Hoover hoses came as yours did without any cuffs, the procedure of fitting was to slide the cuff right over the DS hose (difficult to do) then the hose was pushed on to the hose end using adhesive plus it was also tied with some waxed twine, finally the hose cuff was pushed over the hose fitting to finish the job. It was all very fiddly!
The ‘bojack boys’ solved the problem with their simple push on hose which could be done in a few seconds, A case where pattern parts were better than genuine.

I have an 862 that’s been in my family for god knows how long…. My dad used it as a daily driver right up until the 2010s but retired it to the shed.. It needs a refurb, as in, the skirt is warped so the Connie doesn’t fully float like she’s supposed to.
Still has that detonation device intact.

Nice! Yea, should get the old girl going again! If it's been in the shed for the last 15 years the supressor will detonate for sure 😂
