When I went to live in Toronto, in 1970, Toronto was just a vast isolated place and extremely cold. Waiting for the bus at night coming home from school at Pape subway Station was agony then I had to walk from Don Mills Road to our apartment at Havenbrook Place. But I survived just as you will Uhraine, and be the success you were meant to be.
It’s terrifying there at night, i remember last year when I turned 13 me and my parents went to a event and we wanted to take the train , so we did and it’s not good at all, i was scared, luckily we are alright and then we got back and drove home with our car, God bless you and I hope you are safe

I used to go to norquest and corona station all the time. They're not bad. It's north of that place is where it gets sketchy. MacEwan, Churchill, stadium and collosium.
The lengths that people have to go to get around Edmonton is insane. We shouldn't have to travel so far just to get to work, school, shopping, etc. This crazy system is dysfunctional. When I was a student, I also had to travel far and wide on transit, it really sucks.

The city is home to one million,,2 we are try to fix things, especially after the pandemic. However; the province and the frds have to do more, their not doing enough. I often wonder how they cannot just come together and keep their surroundings clean, even if it is only to sweep the area that they occupy, clearly the government dont give a damn so it is up to the citizens. I lived in Canada for a long time so I know how the transportation system works. I waited many a nights in cold subway kiosk waiting for hours for the next bus after the train being delayed made me missed the bus.

Try find somewhere closer to school. Don't feel guilty. I had to travel 2 hours to and 2 hours from work in Canada and after 6 months I couldn't bother anymore. I felt guilty moving closer to work because my brother had renovated a flat next to his house for me so I came back to Jamaica instead. I came back to a good job but I would have been better off financially in Canada

I'm so shocked that it's this bright at 10 PM :O My husband and I are deeply considering Edmonton as our destination as newcomers, so I have a question for you: have you ever faced any uncomfortable or violent situation while using the public transportation in Edmonton, something that made you feel threatened?
As an edmontonian, during spring/summer, our sun is up till at latest 11:30pm. During winter it is gone by like 4pm. And depending where ya go, the transit can be pretty sketchy at times. Honestly it's only been happening lately due to the increase of local homelessness and out of province homelessness as Alberta has turned into one of the fastest growing province and the cheapest. So a lot of people move here expecting a quick turn around but in the reality of things, just because you move doesn't mean you have new opportunities sadly. Don't get me wrong, Edmonton is a good city in a slowly degrading country. If you look at it logistically, Edmonton is the best choice in alberta. If you look at it aesthetically, I highly suggest Calgary instead. Both cities bring their pros and cons.
Edmonton is an amazing place to live (especially in the summer, it's basically a city in a forest), but it is slightly above the national average for violent crime. That being said, I have lived just west of downtown for nearly 20 years and have never really been in a situation where I feared for my safety. The rest of the city is even safer, as it's mostly quiet suburbs. The main issues with crime seem to be centred just east of downtown where the homeless population is concentrated - but that area is easy to avoid, and there isn't really any reason why you should find yourself spending time there. Crime on public transport (especially on LRT) has become an issue in recent years, but hopefully that's just a temporary issue that can be resolved with policing.
I have lived in edmonton my entire life. LRT is getting dangerous cuz they let homeless people sleep and do drugs there. Just try to ignore them and stay away from them. Get a car as soon as you can. City is very spread out!
Lived there and couldn’t leave fast enough. Horrible place for many reasons and the only reason to live there would be that it’s cheaper for housing but there’s a reason for that. It sucks
