I purchased several at the Fryeburg Fair this month and the 9 year old wanted to make some. I found this video so helpful and I will have the 9 yr old watch it. Thanks so much and thank you also for the tips on where to buy the tulle.
Wonderful video! TFS. After connecting the second scrubby (and before fastening off) make several chains (around 20) and create a hanging strap. This way you can hang it off your faucet in order to dry faster 😎
Good tutorial... Thank you. I will try this for sure. I friend showed me this several years ago but I never got around to trying to make one. Now I am retired and have plenty of time. Thank you again.
I am a very newbie with crochet. I just started 7 days ago..... I find ur video very helpful. I have many colors of tulle left. I can use those.thanks a lot.
I am glad to hear that you were able to make your first scrubby from watching my video. That makes me happy to know that the tutorial was helpful for you :)
Love your tutorial! I can hardly wait to order tulle and get started. Was given one by an elderly friend that had dishcloth crocheted of Sugar'n Cream around it, and scrubbie in middle, and I love it and want to make more. It's really neat all in one. Thanks lots! KathyShebley
I’m a beginner so I’m sorry if this is a stupid question. When you do round 1 - 12 stitches. And you skip stitch together. Are you combining stitch 12 and stitch 1? Thank you 😊
Did you ever do the tutorial fir the different color rounds for dish scrubbies. I cannot find it on your blog. I have lots of tulle left over but not enough for one round burble. Thank you
Thank you so much! Great video. Do you have a slow-mo how to video? You go quite fast, but I think if there was a step by step how to using tulleing similar to this one, us beginners can fallow how to hide the tales and remember how to marry the 2 halves together easier. Thank you for this great video!.
I did do another video of my dish scrubby tutorial that included instruction notes. Here is the link to the video on my channel; ua-cam.com/video/dBBV9Sylc30/v-deo.html Hope it helps. Thank you :)
I couldn't find an item number, but I can give you the direct link to the website of the set of 20 rolls of tulle that I bought from Amazon. www.amazon.com/All-Makings-Stulle-Rolls-20/dp/B0044FU8RC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1524583330&sr=8-1&keywords=all+the+makings+tulle&dpID=21%252BQCT5XRBL&preST=_QL70_&dpSrc=srch
Some tulle is more pliable than others, the polyester tulle is soft and not as coarse as nylon tulle. I always apply lotion on my hands when making the dish scrubbies, especially when using nylon tulle. The nylon tulle does make a more effective dish scrubby.
With 2 spools you can make 3 double sided scrubbies using 6 inch wide strips. From one spool you get about 3 single rounds, and if you are making a double sided dish scrubby, then you would get one complete dish scrubby and another single round. To make 2 double sided scrubbies with 6 inch wide strips then would need 2 spools of tulle, 3 scrubbies if they are not double sided, or 1 complete double sided scrubby with one round left over to use as one of the sides for your second scrubby. With 2 spools you can make 3 double sided scrubbies using 6 inch wide strips.
No worries if they do not have a dishwasher. I wash mine in the washing machine. No need to place them in the clothes dryer after washing, since they air dry quickly.
I haven't added a written pattern yet to my website for this dish scrubby. I have been adding written instructions to my website for other tutorials and also have begun to add pdf versions to download the written instructions. I will be adding more written instructions available as a pdf download as I continue to build my website. You can visit my website at tanglewithyarn.com/ and I will have a pdf version for the written instructions for this dish scrubby soon. Thank you.
I've crocheted for many many years, but I'm having a terrible time with this tulle!!! Is the tulle held the same way as regular yarn?? After doing the 12 single crochet in 1st round, all I have is a tight mess. The does't appear to be as soft or pliable as yours and although I can't really see it to tell for sure, it looks like you are holding the tulle differently than you would if it were yarn. I must be doing something wrong. I've pulled it out and started again several times so far. What a mess! LOL
If you have never worked with tulle before, it can be a little tricky to work with at first. Some tulle is softer or more pliable than others. I have found that the tulle that I purchased from Amazon was softer than the tulle I purchased from Walmart. I would say to try adjust your tension, and work the first round a little less tight as you would when working with yarn.
You can crochet with coir rope. I think this pattern would also work with the coir rope. I have never personally made a scrubber with coir rope before. Crocheting with coir rope would be similar to crocheting with jute. I am not sure if a scrubber with coir rope would work for dishes though. Were you wanting to make it to use as a scrubber for dishes? If you try this pattern with the coir rope, I would love to hear how it went. Thank you.
Are there different types of tulle. I tried doing it today and am having the hardest time crocheting with it. I have been crocheting for 60 years. Your tulle looks so much thinner and more pliable. Thanks for your response
I went and bought a yard of tulle from Joann fabric today and cut it to 6 inch strips. Do you roll the strips they are very wide and I am having a hard time crocheting. Any hints would be most welcome. When I tried cutting to 3 inch wide they were too small. How do I crimp the tulle together so I can get hook around and thru the stitch? HELP!!!
I am currently working on a video that that will help show the differences in types of tulle. I am creating this video to help answer your questions and show you in more detail about the different types of tulle, and how to hold the tulle to work with it. I am also looking at answering others questions that have been posted in asking about the dish scrubbies in my tutorial. I hope that this new video will be very helpful. I know that it can be tricky to work with tulle at first, even if you have been crocheting for many years :) Thank you.
Try putting your screen on your TV through Chromecast/Smart TV.ect. you have to start/stop and review to figure it out as a newbie...but that is what worked for me..your right this video isn't geared towards a newbie.
You can also change the speed of the video. If you know your basic stitches this is actually very easy to follow. You should learn slip stitches single crochet, half double crochet and double crochet for beginner patterns.
Everyone's tension is different. If the center hole is coming out too big for you, you could try one to two less chains when you begin the center ring. If the center hole is still too big after trying that, then you can definitely start with a magic ring instead.
From one spool you get about 3 single rounds, and if you are making a double sided dish scrubby, then you would get one complete dish scrubby and another single round if you crocheting with the entire width of the scrubby (with 6 inch wide strips). To make 2 double sided scrubby with 6 inch wide strips then would need 2 spools of tulle, 3 scrubbies if they are not double sided or 1 complete double sided scrubby with one round left over.
It is a bit small but it is because of the hook size. I have made this one and used a 10 mm crochet hook to make a bigger one. I think the smaller one is great for harder stains to get out of your pans. You can make this bigger by using the bigger crochet hook. Hope that helps.
For a double crochet stitch, you would yo, then insert the hook into the stitch, then yo and pull up a loop, then you would have 3 loops on the hook, Yo and then pull through just 2 of the 3 loops and leave the last loop still on the hook, then yo and pull through the last 2 loops to finish the double crochet. Here is a link to a tutorial I have that shows how to the double crochet stitch; ua-cam.com/video/GGz5WkCM9a4/v-deo.html
I am the original creator of this video. Are you finding my video listed somewhere else? Is there someone claiming that this is their video, that is not okay if they are? I created this video and pattern.
Unless, you mean that you also saw my other video, which I did as a redo to add written notes in the video, this is my other video ua-cam.com/video/dBBV9Sylc30/v-deo.html both are my videos and pattern that I created. I have seen my videos posted on numerous blogs that were not my blogs and they did not even mention that they were my videos, that is why I have been adding my watermark to all of the videos now. :)
I haven't posted the written instructions yet. I can redo the video with instructions noted during the video. I will upload a new video with instructions by the weekend.
Ok ... Still having issues. Going to give it one more try in the morning. If I still can't get something this simple to work ... I give up and will raise the white flag. LOL 50 years of crochet and can't get this right. I've crocheted with mohair easier than this tulle!!! LOL It's not the tutorial ... it's got to be something that I'm doing!
If you are still having trouble making the dish scrubby, I am working on another tutorial where I will be using 3 inch wide strips instead of 6 inch wide strips. It may be easier to work with thinner strips of tulle, if you are not used to working with it. This pattern does not come out correctly with thinner strips though. I will upload another scrubby tutorial where I use the 3 inch strips, that you could try that may be easier. :)
I have another beginner friendly version of this tutorial that I uploaded. I made another video of this dish scrubby with written instruction notes in the video. Here is the link; ua-cam.com/video/dBBV9Sylc30/v-deo.html I hope this helps, thank you.

That's a great idea to add a loop to hang it on the faucet.
Good tutorial... Thank you. I will try this for sure. I friend showed me this several years ago but I never got around to trying to make one. Now I am retired and have plenty of time. Thank you again.
This is the best I've seen THANK YOU so much!
Awesome pattern! I like the idea of using the 6” wide tule without cutting it.💜
I am a very newbie with crochet. I just started 7 days ago..... I find ur video very helpful. I have many colors of tulle left. I can use those.thanks a lot.
❤️I make these and I think their the BEST scrubbers that you could ever use...to me there's No better One. I love them.❤️
What a wonderful teacher .
What a wonderful tutorial!
This pattern also works great with the Scrubology. I did both and they came out fantastic. Thanks for the pattern.
More tutorials please please , you are a wonderful teacher. ❤❤👍
So clever in the tulle holder you could feed it through one of the slots.
Very nice and easy tutorial, the only thing I would suggest is to start with a Magic chain to prevent the big whole in the middle.
New to this. Great video.
Love watching your hands! You can go fast! Good video!
I made my first scrubber from watching you demonstrate it. Thank you for doing the video😊
I am glad to hear that you were able to make your first scrubby from watching my video. That makes me happy to know that the tutorial was helpful for you :)

Thank you for your tutorial, I will make some to sell at my craft fair.
How well fo these hold up? Do they scratch the pots and pans?

great lesson... thanks...
I understand the width of the tulle is 6 inches but how many feet or yards are on the “spool” that you get 1 1/2 scrubbies from? Thanks!!
Thank you! Can please slow down and show the first few stitches when you switch to a new crochet stitch technique?
awesome
Great video..thank you
very good video easy to follow
Thank you.
what is the item number from amazon for the tulle you bought
I couldn't find an item number, but I can give you the direct link to the website of the set of 20 rolls of tulle that I bought from Amazon. www.amazon.com/All-Makings-Stulle-Rolls-20/dp/B0044FU8RC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1524583330&sr=8-1&keywords=all+the+makings+tulle&dpID=21%252BQCT5XRBL&preST=_QL70_&dpSrc=srch
How do u keep it so fine as you crochet?
Is this hard on your hands to crochet? And how many scrubbies can you get out of that one roll. I think I'm going to try this
Some tulle is more pliable than others, the polyester tulle is soft and not as coarse as nylon tulle. I always apply lotion on my hands when making the dish scrubbies, especially when using nylon tulle. The nylon tulle does make a more effective dish scrubby.

You have printed instructions?
How many length fabric used this scrubby?
what?
PLEASE GO SLOWER! Beginners are trying to learn how to make the scrubbies but also need to learn sc, dc, stitches. Thank you!!
So what if the ppl i give them to dont have a dishwasher. Do they just have to toss them??
No worries if they do not have a dishwasher. I wash mine in the washing machine. No need to place them in the clothes dryer after washing, since they air dry quickly.

I think the darker colors are stiffer. So far the white is easy to use. It's a challenge.
How many do you get out of an roll?
A small roll I make one full and one pad. So 3 single rounds and some extra to bind the two.
What size of hook did you use? Ty
I used a size J / 10 crochet hook.
You said crochet hook to weave in the end. Did you mean darning needle?
Are you using Polyester or Nylon Tulle? It looks a lot softer or not as heavy as Nylon.
Ok for a newbie this is not the easiest video to follow. Perhaps try using darker/brighter tuille & showing the stitches a bit more slowly & close up.
Try putting your screen on your TV through Chromecast/Smart TV.ect. you have to start/stop and review to figure it out as a newbie...but that is what worked for me..your right this video isn't geared towards a newbie.

Thanks so much for your quickly reply! I'll try that.
is your roll of tulte 3" ot 6"
6 inches
the width of tulle in this scrubby is 6 inches
How many rounds do you get out of 1 roll of tulle
From one spool you get about 3 single rounds, and if you are making a double sided dish scrubby, then you would get one complete dish scrubby and another single round if you crocheting with the entire width of the scrubby (with 6 inch wide strips). To make 2 double sided scrubby with 6 inch wide strips then would need 2 spools of tulle, 3 scrubbies if they are not double sided or 1 complete double sided scrubby with one round left over.
Why make one if you can’t use it in pans?
Ha-Ha! No more sponges! Free at last!
What is the finished size? It looks small. compared to your hand. I think another round might be better.
It is a bit small but it is because of the hook size. I have made this one and used a 10 mm crochet hook to make a bigger one. I think the smaller one is great for harder stains to get out of your pans. You can make this bigger by using the bigger crochet hook. Hope that helps.
How to crochet a double stitch
For a double crochet stitch, you would yo, then insert the hook into the stitch, then yo and pull up a loop, then you would have 3 loops on the hook, Yo and then pull through just 2 of the 3 loops and leave the last loop still on the hook, then yo and pull through the last 2 loops to finish the double crochet. @@TanglewithYarn thank you so much
you only chain 1 on your half double crochet , half double is ch 2 double is chain 3
what said here makes no sense
ooh dear, this is dreadful
She crochets too fast and I can't follow.
I did do another version of this video of my dish scrubby tutorial that included instruction notes in the video. Here is the link to the video on my channel; ua-cam.com/video/dBBV9Sylc30/v-deo.html Hope it helps. Thank you :)
