    2. Instagram cookware
    3. Personalized vitamin blends
    4. Instagram pop-up experiences
    5. Shirts with weird/super trendy sleeves
    6. Over-the-top social media foods
    7. Very expensive house paint
    8. Fancy planners (if you're not an established planner user)
    9. $75 candles
    10. Pre-packaged healthy snacks (you can achieve nutritional profile cheaper ways)
    11. Canned vodka sodas
    12. Plastic full-face visor masks
    13. "It" bags/purses
    14. "Especially formulated" skin and haircare - you know the types.
    15. Finicky houseplants (if you're bad at taking care of plants)
    16. Expensive workout clothes
    17. Uncomfortable high heels
    18. Shedding home decor (pillows, rugs, etc.)
    19. Any product sold through a viral tweet

The jeans thing is real. I'm now convinced that jeans shouldn't really go through trends. We should be able to get low, mid-low, mid-, mid-high, or high-rise jeans in different leg cuts whenever and wherever especially online. Also, there is nothing wrong with the color pink for grown-ups. There is something wrong with an expensive pan that gets bad reviews though.

    • @aylacrissman3443
      @aylacrissman3443 3 роки тому +6

@@dani23dani85 they were. One example is toasters. They lasted life times during the depression and WWII times because as a society, Americans (as I have only really looked into it in America because of family history in America) did not truest believe in “disposable” products as what you had in this time period needed to last so you could keep using it. However, as more and more work was given to other countries and companies used more and more materials that were less sturdy and inflation, the value of a dollar dropped, the companies cut more corners, making things more disposable, which in turn made them more money because people needed to buy it more, so many companies made thing cheaper, sold it cheaper, making it more and more disposable, which lead to more buying of the product and more money for the companies. There’s more to than this, with inflation, laws, taxes, etc that were also factors, but I looked most into this little niche because it’s what I found interesting when I was doing a paper for my economics class. And this information is actually all based on memory from that paper (which was written a couple of years ago), so some information is probably not as accurate as it could be and I have no sources to offer, so take that as you will, and take my info with a grain of salt.

@@rosaliamiranda4808 I know, right?! The skin tint is pretty much just a very thin liquid foundation with alcohol added so that it evaporates. Not the greatest thing for your skin. You can add a drop of foundation to a moisturizer and get the same coverage/effect, with the benefit of something good for your skin. Their concealer is great though. It actually conceals and melts into the skin so that I don't need a foundation. But there are a million cream concealers out there that will do the same. Some cost more and some are cheaper.

The prior owners of our house painted one of the rooms in Farrow & Ball Chappell Green. We had the same idea - color match it. Benjamin Moore color matched it to perfection. However, it just didn’t have the same richness and color depth. At night it looked muddy. So we splurged on the Farrow and Ball and repainted the room. Although the color is the same it looks soooo much better. We color matched another room, which was in a light blue color and that worked out well for us. I would say if you’re painting your walls a light/neutral color you really don’t need to splurge. However, if you’re painting your walls a deep/unique color it won’t look the same.

I am on the crazy sleeve train! But I’d also describe my style as “history bounding”, I basically wear whatever I like from the 13th century through WWI. And having shops that are selling late Victorian style blouses with these big puffy sleeves just means that I can buy them for once, and not have to make them.
It’s like for those who wear a lot of vintage style, and fit and flare dresses come back into fashion, so you stick up while you can, when it’s all very easily available, to get you through the lean times. Only because late Victorian blouses don’t come around anywhere near as often (the last time they were this ubiquitous was the 70s), you really gotta jump on that if that’s what you’re into! It’s like the jeans thing- buy what you like when you can. I happen to like historical clothing. If I could also find decent quality walking skirts… actually, I’d probably still sew them myself, because they’re actually really easy to make.
I think the advice to jot follow trends just for the sake of being trendy is good advice. That being said, my fashion is already at least 100 years out of date, so I don’t really care much about it anymore. But if there’s a nice ankle length prairie dress, a nice waistcoat, or a poofy sleeved shirtwaist, you can bet I’m gonna buy it if I can afford it. I’m still really sad that the only brand selling those cream sweaters with the massive leg o mutton sleeves to the elbow, then tight to the wrist, is far too expensive for me to buy. Which mean I’m going to have to figure out how to sew one myself, because I really want one. So don’t buy stuff that’s trendy just because, but if it’s something you already like, then it’s a great idea. Because sewing your own is usually not that much cheaper.

Since I started my minimalist journey years ago, I have learned of great ways -- without spending money -- how to care for leather = shoes, boots, jacket, purse, etc.; Plants = compost, seeds, water, etc.; cleaning supplies = homemade cleaning mix. If you or anyone makes their own research - you can make some or all even hand lotion, or face mask at home (I have done it and I'm acne-free). If you are willing to do research and make it yourself, you can save up so much money by taking care of your clothing, home, and your health and pets if you have pets. 🌼

I ordered a drink which sounded good (and it was!) but it was cheaper and did not have dry ice. My friend really wanted the fancy drink. Everything was good; the drink foamed when poured and it was a very instagrammable moment. However, when my friend took his sip, a few moments later he made a face. I agree with all of them except the weird sleeves and fancy snacks. Being pear shape, like I also am, the weird sleeves help balance our figures by adding details and often volume to your arms (though the bell sleeves that get tight at the wrist are definitely way more practical than typical bell sleeves). And cold shoulder sleeves are great for anyone who runs warm or if you're self conscious about your upper under arms (bingo wings lol).

On the paint issue, I’ll say that the pricier version from Sherwin Williams is worth it over the cheap. I bought the “cheap” line for some colors and the more expensive for others and the difference in coverage (which dictates how much paint you have to use) was noticeable. Also, Trader Joe’s has the best candles.

18:07 Actually those face shields (with a face mask) are required when going outside here in the Philippines.
Again, not as an alternative to face masks, but to reduce exposure to the eyes. (I don't necessarily agree with that but it is very important when with a patient)

The one pictured didn't cover the eyes - it was lower-half-of-face only (& I've seen one in the wild that covered even less, being wide open at the sides).
Yes, a full-face shield can nicely supplement a mask, but there are definitely some out there that exist with no higher purpose than malicious compliance.

You kinda offended some people there, Chelsea. I love you and TFD, but that one was kinda below the belt.
It's not like some people have options in wearing those face shields. You'll get kicked out of a store or a public transpo if you don't wear one.

Yeah, I love this channel and Chelsea for all she and the team do. I understand that she may be referring to people who wear the face shields INSTEAD of a face mask (I agree with her there) but still, as a supplement they help. (even if they seem stupid to walk around wearing, sometimes).
My country has just reached the 1 million mark in number of cases so I definitely wear both a mask and a face shield when interacting with patients.

Not only are they unrealistic for most real people but if i wanted a hint of color on my lips I'd use a high pigment lipstick dab it and add lip balm or gloss. That's so much more affordable and gives you more control on color versus buying some overpriced deluted makeup child makeup. Glossier honestly reminds me of those free samples you'd get in tween magazines but with an insane price tag.

Of course, you should make sure they're practical for your lifestyle, but if something suits you and you feel good in it, buy it whether it's popular or not! On plants you can start with small plants to keep the cost down. Spending $75 on a plant means that it was large or rare so start with a pothos or snake plant for $10-15. And if the plant died in a week it was probably sick when she got it unless she watered it with some weird fertilizer or something.
