Meanwhile vfx artists are in an even worse situation. Not just the tight deadlines and unrealistic expectations but they’re also left out of credits while working on a production for months. Like in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, where 80% of the artists were not in the credits. Ridiculous.

Jessica Chastain is an Oscar winner who has worked with Christopher Nolan, Ridley Scott, Terrence Malick and Kathryn Bigelow. @@angelachanellehuang5663they weren't withholding. Consumers have gotten rid of early 2000s $150 cable companies. Networks are now carving out their own individual prices to keep their business afloat. Also I'm sure the advertisement rates for television have went down with the smaller audience and with alternative entities to get direct to consumers. Technology/internet has caught up with the drama industry just like Napster/Spotify caught up to the music industry. The difference is that a music artist with a decent fan base has many ways to make money outside of just selling CDs, which is how the industry survived. How do actors get out of this when all they do is acting roles?

1:10 (Hi. SAG member typing here) This guy is so WRONG. It is not 'optically weird' for the leaders in the field to attend strike events!
When the big celebrities come out to the picket lines they say 'I've been fortunately in this business. I am part of the 1% who get top billing. I am not here for ME...I am here for my colleagues who are just getting started as actors. And I am also here for my colleagues that are trying to earn the $27,000 a year necessary for health and pension. THIS IS WHY I AM HERE."

When I do finally find a move that I find enjoyable, I come to find out that most "critics" review the movie as bad. So apparently movies are no longer for me, so I stopped watching big budget films all together. There is no bar to entry in the field of acting and with a corresponding massive surplus of actors around & few who are outstandingly talented, most actors will just have to face the fact that very, very few are them are ever going to be rich and famous; most will have to be part-time and rely on other sources of income (perhaps coding) to provide for their basic needs. The rest of us just don't want to have to carry them because they want to act (perhaps income can be split more equitably among Hollywood Marxists). Most aspiring athletes have to face the same reality, except they will likely never get any employment as a pro-athlete at all & hence won't have a forum in which to whine.

Movies & TV Shows are deferred + there's too much offer.
So right now numbers tell the Studios are making profits and reducing the bill. They are so happy.
This strike will need 9 to 12 months to be really effective. That will be the moment of strength, not now.
This impulsive people only reveal actors are desperate, and that they can't wait that much.
The studios can see this, and bet the strike can be counterproductive to actors.
I hope SAG-AFTRA think of this and make a cold and long term strategy if wants to be successful.
Or ask people for money to eat, pay rent, etc for at least 1 year of resistance.
Studio numbers will be the reddest red at that time and will ensure success for actors.
Sorry but right now SAG-AFTRA is doing stupid, and as a result can disappear.
There's no right or wrong, they are playing chess. And they need to make it better.

@FuzionZlercika It could, far better than major writers today are doing.
Compared to indie and world auteurs, maybe not ... but then again are those people making money with emotionally rich cinema?
But in blockbusters, AI could easily do that since those films have gone more robotic over the years. I don't recall ever watching Transformers or an MCU film for any emotional experience.

They have destroyed a wonderful thing that America was known for Great movies and TV shows. Now I am about to cancel 5 streaming services since there's nothing new to Watch anymore. Stick THE BOYS season 4 where the sun don't shine and don't bother even putting Reacher season 2 on this December. You destroyed your own profession. Great Job.
