Never thought I'd live in the timeline where they did more for Metroid on its 35th anniversary than Zelda lol

Meanwhile Zelda is currently sitting on having one of the most anticipated future releases and we don't even know the title. Why would they bother generating MORE hype? lol

It's good to see that the company remembers that: 1.) the franchise exists, and 2.) that this was its 35th anniversay. A shame there wasn't a bit more done to celebrate, though.

“35th” isn’t exactly an anniversary that gets special attention in any walk of life.
At least we got a trailer for BotW 2. It was a teaser but it was a trailer. Not another year of waiting for some type of news about it.

Finally someone who also likes phantom hourglass and spirit tracks
1. The original Legend of Zelda. The free range exploration with no hand-holding or direction, the labyrinths are like mazes, and even though the combat was primitive, to this day nothing replicates the feeling of being trapped in a room with a bunch of darknuts with fireballs shooting at you.
2. Breath of the Wild - a modern gaming masterpiece which replicates the free exploration of the first game and is an enhanced version of Miyamoto's original vision
3. A Link to the Past - in my opinion still the best arsenal of weapons and items in any Zelda game. Breaks up the "dungeon 3 item defeats dungeon 3 boss or gets past hurdles in dungeon 3" format more often than later games, where it truly felt like any item you picked up would be useful at any time (though some actually still were under used)
1) Legend of Zelda (NES)
2) Link's Adventure (NES)
3) A Link to the Past (SNES)
Anything else is a derivative.
Remember when back in 2011 in the 25th anniversary of Metroid Nintendo only announced the Zelda 25th anniversary with Skyward Sword in Wii and Metroid got nothing?
How the things can be change, and don't worry guys you still have BotW 2 for next year

I felt hurt when they didn't mention Twilight Princess. Is not my #1 but still a pretty solid game. I loved the story so much. But my #1 is Breath of the Windwaker. Those 2 games are really special.

Great lists. Then again any Zelda is worthy of any tier. They are the best collective series as a whole and also hold their own individually.

Guys the community is being super loud about this: Wind Waker and Twilight Princess HD ports from Wii U are a freaking no brainer money printing machine. You have already ported so many of the few titles that made having a Wii U worth it, what is the deal with the delay on these titles?
Probably has a bit to do with replacing all the Miiverse content. SM3DW+BF kept its Miiverse stamps and did Snapshot mode, but WWHD in particular, with the Tingle bottles, was anchored to Miiverse. TPHD wouldn't be as troublesome, but then there's the Cave of Shadows. Not to nention it would likely be Tantalus handling the ports, and they wrapped SSHD earlier this year.

Thank you for everything. Nintendo Power was a key aspect of my childhood. I remember when it was announced the magazine would be discontinued I had cried. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
Damn 35 years of a hallmark franchise for a great company, I can't wait to see how they celebrate it after all the stuff they done with Mario, like an AC crossover and some game collections must be coming soon surely? I can't wait to see what they do, I mean unless they phone it in which would be a bit disappointing to say the least as it is after all a genre/game changing franchise beloved by millions and the latest game even outsold the console it was on for a time...
Because we all know anniversaries all follow the same format, right?

This. Like SMM was the main thing on Mario's 30th. The fact that people want all these big releases every 5 years to coincide with anniversaries, when that's basically the timeframe in which games get developed is bizarre.

Many of these playable stories touch our morality. Imprinting the struggles of youth, the trials of the chosen to grow and save the world, our world. Interacting the multitudes of personalities. Each game is a parable of life, teaching us to pay attention, work hard to achieve the goal. While we all feel some distinct connection to a single game, they are all a religious experience.
My favorites are (in no particular order ) Link to the past, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Minish Cap, Phantom Hourglass, Link Between Worlds & Breath of the Wild.
I know Phantom Hourglass doesn't get much love, but jumping from Link to The Past & Link's Awakening to it, it felt like a phenomenal step forward.
Then I went back to the other games I had missed and found something to like in each of them, but the ones in that list above are the ones that made a bigger mark on me than the others.
I just love Ocarina of Time I’m a Grandmother !!

Zelda II is the hardest game ever. Never been able to beat it without save states.
It's by far the hardest Zelda game. My only regret is that I could not beat it without "cheesing" dark link by using the crouch-in-corner glitch

If we get Ocarina of Time HD and Majoras mask HD on Nintendo Switch at somepoint i would buy it in a heart beat. They could convert the 3ds version right? Is there a way to hook up your new edition 3DS XL to an HD TV screen? Like a converter or something?

I didn’t realize that Game Forecast didn’t talk about future games, other than the two ones that come out in 2 days. My mind sorta put the two together- Zelda’s 35th and a Forecast... but no, we’ll just have to appreciate some 8-bit tunes and a tempting thumbnail. At least do something about the anniversary of one of your best-selling series, one game in which made you 1.5 Billion dolarridoos, might I add. I’m hoping for something in the game awards, which there’s a good chance there will be a trailer or announcement of a game in that series of some sort.
