Here I am waiting inevitably for my flight, surrounded by unknown people and amidst all that, while I was listen to this impeccable piece, I was transcended really...For a moment, I lost all sense of existence in a place where motion was the primary notion engraved in each living soul in the area, I was motionless and happy and sad at the same time. Not only did I find myself standing against the crowd but I found the core value which thrives in this universe that two forces which oppose one another must co-exist in order to balance both of their existence...Life is not about winning and losing, it's about balancing the will to win with that of losing.
Wow, haven't heard this in OVER 40 years. I bought the big boxed set in 1967 and literally wore it out listening to it thousands of times. Loussier has had a great run, both as performer and composer, and we always catch him in the very rare personal appearance in Southern California. A unique voice and visionary he is. Thanks for posting Kosomot ! Hmmmmmm, nice listening . . . . = )
Preludium w takiej interpretacji absolutnie mnie zachwyciło. Potem przesłuchałem ten utwór chyba ze 100 razy. Dziękuję :)
I used to own all (4?) records many, many moons ago ... but even now ~ whenever I play this on the piano I start out strictly classical ~ and after the last chord ~ I always jazz it up for the second run. It is just so suited for this variation. Thanks Jacques Loussier for the inspiration ;o)
@mmbmbmbmb Ditto - we do exactly the same in our house - ie play the first time classical then jazzed up and at twice or three times the speed ever since saw Jacques Loussier and his trio do this in Nottingham around in 1974 or 75.
Does anyone have this song but only on piano without any other instruments? I heard somewhere other version and I love it. So, does anyone have it? Or maybe piano sheets?
@Paiste01 I totally do not agree with this. In my opinion this ist just another interpretation of Bach, a modern(?) one indeed. I like it a lot, because I'd love to understand Bach but I simply can't because the only music I tend to understand is Jazz. Loussier is helping me with this issue and opens my mind for Bach and the other componists. I don't think this is the definition of rape ;)
Hmm...why don't you take it a step further and call him Hitler? You don't have to like it, but to compare it to a traumatic, violent destructive action is a little extreme.... I think it's fantastic. It doesn't diminish the original in any way.
This is the perfect marriage of great classical music and great jazz, transcending both genres to produce magic
Right you are!

that's exactly how it is...😊
I grew up with this! At age 14 my mom took me to see and hear him and his trio and I never forgot. I love his music so much. Thank you for posting!

Jacques is an alien from another galaxy who is here on our planet to teach us how to jazz like a god! I love playbach
Amazing rendition 👏👏👏👏
greatest Jazz musician of all time in my opinion
this music will always remind me of the wonderful tv ad for The Independant newspaper .

Cravo Bem Temperado? Fantástico!

Máximo Cozzeti

Beautiful Judith I love this guy he plays 'SUPERB' EXCELLANT PIANIST

Bellísimo!
ça me rappelle la version de Alexandre Astier
Sauf que celle d'Astier est en 15/16. Allez voir, ce petit changement de tempo change absolument tout dans le ressenti !
No es BMV, sino BWV!!.
Genial...
This is the sort of thing I wish I could show Bach
h/t to Glenn Gould at 1:33
OMG the bass is good ... airier and more syrupy than the Pierre Michelot bass from the 60's. Vincent Charbonnier? Must be Benoît Dunoyer de Segonzac?
