Lyrics:
The events that brought us here
all unfortunate, I fear
but can't be helped
I am sincere
Envoy from the world below
take this message to your own
there was no way we could have known
Just pieces on the board all waiting to be moved
Tell me why I should care for you?
I stand above the world
in my glass enclave
And I can not be hurt
by the war and the harrowing waves
From High above the world
I see the ones depraved
They know to stay away
from our walls and the master slaves
I live life without remorse
out of sight is out of mind
I have no regard for their kind
In spite of everything I have
I owe no debt to those who don't
I played the game and I won
His voice seriously grows on you, i've listened to these guys since Jets and Guns, around 8 years now, i couldn't imagine anyone else singing these songs!
his singing Is heavenly and fits in every song
Dude, that is awesome, the name only strengthens the theory too.
Thx for uploading this song, I've been looking for it on youtube, since the album was released
O.O omfg, WHY HAVENT I SEEN THIS BEFORE?! You are so right! This is amazing. Makes so much sense. Good job dude :D
Those are some really good points. The more I think about it, the more I think that's what this song is about. Great song, anyway.
It's about the 99% vs 1% wealth distribution thing. It's as subtle about it as a sledgehammer to the face.
It's actually about RTS games.
I stand above the worrrrrrrld, in my glass enclaaaaaaaave.
I love the general mood of this song. I'm not entirely sure what it's about, but it sounds absolutely amazing.
I completely agree, nice interpretation.
The entire band has come a long way since the beginnings, but Gaz in particular has really made an extraordinary journey. Tbh I also preferred the instrumental tracks during the pre-Redeemer era, and it's great to hear how much he's evolved since then, going from being the band's weak point to being one of its greatest strengths.
Come on. Rob's voice is part of what makes them so unique. Besides, without him, they would have a great deal less awesome artwork, lyrics and music =P
Somewhat my favorite song on the album.
dang, I knew they were good, but in this album they have more meaning than most bands have in all of their albums. GJ MaSu.
Favorite song on this album
Love it
amazing
Yeah, ive ben trying to find out about this for a while, and what i find most likely is that its kinda the opposit of "stand" from Overworld, when i listen to this song i imagine a politician, literally standing in a glass box, looking down upon a world ruined and at war.
This song is actually a cover of their own song which was supposed to be used in the cancelled War Angels soundtrack. I have a snippet of the song from about 5 years ago when I ripped the MaSu section of the Hubnester Industries website. I used to be pretty active on the forum but not in years.
If anyone would like me to send them the War Angels outtakes plus some other Hubnester Music just send me a message and I'll see what I can do.
I would very much like to hear that,i hate myself for not seeing this comment before, let me know if manage to find it, thanks :D
@@fel9556 hey man sorry I never saw your reply! I do still have it if you're interested
@@cloudstrifex88 I'm interested too, if the offer still stands!
The lovely thing about MaSu lyrics: It can be both!
IF they toured in America, I would see them.
It definitely could. I'm just theorizing is all. It's an awesome song either way, I think!
I think it's a song about the occupy movement from the perspective of the %1
No i meant to upload Pieces, witch you did and i'm forever in dept to you sir for that. ಠ_ರೃ
Wait, I think I've got it: knowing that they sing about videogames a lot, I think it's about someone who reached the level cap in an MMO. He's so powerful and "above" everyone else that he can't be hurt. That would explain the phrase "I played the game and I won," as well as the song title, since I assume (not being an MMO player myself) that that is a very high level. I could be entirely wrong here, though.
but the part about "just pieces on the board all waiting to be moved" refers more to a politician, doesn't it?
No I think it's more of the perspective of the 99%: The rich, the corporate bastards, the bankers.
but could u upload whole album in one video by any chance? that'd be neat
I think they mean, put them all together. Provide the times in the description and stuff
For some reason I want to think this is kinda like the new March of the Undead. Such a great song
What do you mean? Rise of a digital nation? There is every song on that new album on my channel with lyrics. Only song pieces is missing.
can u make the same for the entire album, please?
Thanks for watching! Check my other videos! :)
It's about a character who has risen to power. He is asking another one why should he care about the others. Think of Kevin Spacey in House of Cards.
nice golem head pic
This might be my favorite track from the album. Interestingly enough, the structure and style reminds me a lot of Metallica. In a good way.
I actually went for a more literal interpretation: RTS
DarkTenka The beginning of the song is also reminiscent to the opening theme of Der Langrisser (somewhat obscure SNES Turn-Based Strategy game).
who the fuck dislikes this >:V
are you sure is "just pieces" and not "chess pieces"?
No, it's "just pieces". Listen closely how he enunciates it.
A true ball-booster, though I really would like to hear`em without that vocal... Dunno why, it just doesn`t fit the massiveness of their art for me. Thanks for the upload!
I don't think the lyrics are that much to do with the 99% thing... I think it's a post-apocalyptic scenario where most people, apart from a lucky few, have been mutilated by nuclear radiation/zombification etc. and lost their humanity. The lucky few have resorted to enclosing themselves in protected areas (hence the "glass enclave" and "walls") and view the mutant humans as a sub-species.
Yeah it does have 99% connotations, but I can also see it as having parallels with the Fallout series of games (the word "enclave" is a dead giveway imo).
