I'm a long time follower of this platform. Big fan of both raza roomi and haroon khawaja. I have a question for Mr khawaja. Regarding his research about Islamic banking, how does he intend to tackle the issue of present value of money. All contemporary finance is based on this fundamental principle (a dollar today is worth less in the future). All financial instruments and calculations are based on this principle, eg in bond valuation you need to use a discount rate (ie. Interest rate). In Islam, there is no concept of interest aka time value of money. I would like to have his views on this. Without tackling the elephant in the room he cannot possibly come up with business models. Didn't know how to ask the question discretely. Hence the public comment.
