In Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, there is a conservation area called Wasit Wetland Centre. It has a visitor centre with observation spaces for both captive and wild birds, as well as sizable expanses of dunes, mud flats, salty lagoons, and freshwater pools. It also protects a portion of a type of wetland (sabkha or salt plain), which was historically widespread throughout the western coastal plains of the UAE. The centre is situated at the Sharjah/Ajman border in the Wasit neighbourhood in northern Sharjah. Since 2019, the centre has been recognized as a Ramsar site. Its protected environment is 86 hectares (210 acres).
Monday to Thursday - 9 AM to 6 PM.
Friday - 2pm to 6.30pm
