Wait but what is the point of solar without inreach and maps? I would want the solar to be able to leave it somewhere and forget about it and to know it will work when I need it.
I have several Garmin products (Fenix 6, inReach mini, GPSmap 67), but I really struggle to understand the purpose of the etrex SE/solar. Even the old etrex 22/32 have maps on them, and the inReach mini has … well inReach for SOS/messaging. What do you actually use this device for without any maps or communication features? It’s quite expensive and large for only being a compass and drawing breadcrumb trails.
Excelente lo tengo y genial sincroniza automáticamente las actividades que grabas y la manda directo a garmin explore que almacena toda la información y la guarda en la nube de esa aplicación para de ahí editar corregir, etc sincroniza el clima, notifica llamadas, mensajes, redes sociales y más directo a éste gps y lo sorprendente la autonomía de batería (168 horas con pilas AA, y 1800 horas en modo expedición, ya me dejo convencido llevo 2 días usándolo y no se ha gastado ninguna raya del nivel de batería y lo otro que destaca el alto contraste de brillo no necesitas activar brillo porque se ve muy claro nítido más si estas al aire libre la visibilidad de pantalla una maravilla. Tengo otros como montana 700 y 680 y con éstos etrex muy bien ya que gracias a la aplicación Garmin explore puedes sincronizar toda la información del etrex y también sincronizarlo al montana 700 y este puede enviar por ANT los archivos al 680 o si grabo en el 680 pasarlo al montana 700, éste sincroniza en garmin explore y de aquí pasa la información al etrex SE, estos gps son maravillosos es pequeño pero MUY PRÁCTICO Y ÚTIL además repetiré lo dicho inicialmente tiene una gran autonomía de batería el SE y que decir del ETREX SOLAR energía ilimitada pues siempre recibirá carga hasta del mínimo de luz y el alto contraste de brillo sin necesidad de activar retro iluminación
How come this can show black n white maps and landmarks but the instinct 2x cant. Maybe update will include or instinct 3. That would make it THE perfect watch. Hope garmin adds maps to instinct line🤞
I think instinct watches and new Etrex GPS receivers are designed to have minimal features and monochromatic screens to last long, for maps and other features Garmin released other devices
Thank you for your question. If you are looking for a small, lightweight, simple-to-use handheld that will get you to your destination and back - then yes. Keep in mind that it does not have any detailed mapping capabilities, so you would not have any waterway charts. Also, while it is IPX7 water-resistant, we do have a line of boating handhelds that float. If that interests you, take a look at the GPS 73, or the GPSMAP 79 series. I hope this helps.
2:16 does it work as smooth as this on instinct 2? I find it challenging to tolerate the laggy compass on my Garmin 67, especially since I've upgraded to the Instinct 2.

Completely useless without basemaps. So I still need a phone which doesn’t have a limitless battery life to have any actual usefulness to this device. Bread crumb trails are great and all, but not what I would expect in a new release from a Garmin. Utter Garbage.

Ésta nueva característica de poder sincronizar con garmin explore es MUY ÚTIL porque por ejemplo tengo un montana 700 que también sincroniza a garmin explore entonces tengo los datos del ETREX SE y viceversa de ser el caso y también tengo un montana 680, y la información que recibe el montana 700 lo paso por ANT a mi 680, y así una maravilla ahora pueden interactuar mis 3 gps intercambiando información de la manera más fácil. Salvo que quiera ya editar en basecamp ya eso es otro tema. Lo importante que usar garmin explore con etrex sólo necesitas Bluetooth nada más no necesitas que activar datos, o ubicación de tu celular para que sincronice automáticamente solo que estén conectados, abres garmin explore sincroniza automáticamente una vez terminado si quieres desactivas Bluetooth y ya está todo en tu etrex o garmin explore
