This is because when entering a parking space forwards, it is easy. But when backing out, it requires effort. It is the reverse when you park backwards. I normally park it in reverse since it is easy to get out, but do it forwards when shopping. some car parks do it at an angle (usually 45) where you have to drive into the space and back out to make life easy.
