You can scale that back to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place spaced at end of the 1st, mid 2nd, and end of 2nd round. That let's contenders get a cheap contributor they can develop, ammo for trades and helps middle/rebuilding teams with an extra pick if they do well. That should push organizations to go for it and keep the money prize as well for the players.
Problem with putting the in season tournament closer to the playoffs like P suggested is that it creates even more incentive for players to sit out to not risk health
Edit: I 100% agree with Pee, guarantee a play-in spot. Some seasons it wont matter bc the one seed will win it but sometimes a lower team could win it. Kenny is correct about Soccer also having that cups and stuff but most, if not all, those cups are teams from different leagues. Its teams from France and England and Spain playing for them. The NBA one is pointless bc we already see those teams play and I dont really care if my team win or lose the tournament.
1:46:46 The answer to “Better Offense or defense” comes down to this. If you have those special/rare players whose offense disregards any type of defense in front of them, I would chose thay. But reality of the nba, and the reason most nba teams won off of having strong defense is cause those special/rare offensive players are few and far in between every year. Most teams don’t get the luxury of having those sort of players, so they often have to rely on both. The reason why that isn’t a fair point P made was cause your team is made up of literally some of the most revolutionary offensive talents this world has seen. The skill level of the nba has skewed offensive ability to the point where defense has had less of an effect on those special/rare players much more so than a decade ago. If you asked this question during Jordan era or even a decade ago I think the answer is different
2:00:05 what I’ll say about the team P picked is great offense team but he forgets that they also have to guard the othe guys and the best defenders he got are is old bron and KD so I think in seven game series I trust the offensive team lose because they can’t get a stop
Most definitely defense. You can score all you want, if you can’t stop other professionals from scoring you’ll be in an all out slugfest 😂😂. You gotta be able to make stop and make stops consistently.
No weve seen at the highest level an elite offense always trumps elite defense, defense is 90% effort offense is skill in a game 7 were youre exhausted what will hold up? Its offense, you dont have to have an elite defense just an okay one but you 100% need an elite offense if u wanna make a deep run weve seen it over and over the best defensive teams with okay offenses 1st and 2nd round exits or look like a shell of themselves later in the playoffs yes u can hold them but u cant make a run to seperate and then they start hitting bullshit shots bcuz theyre elite offensively and u cant match those blows
It's both. Last lakers chip, they had the 3rd ranked defense and the the 11th ranked offense. In 2018 The warriors had the 3rd ranked offense and the 11th ranked defense. Most champions have either their offense or their defense in the top 5. Sometimes they have both. Both of them win chips. To just say defense wins chips is insane.
@@Casualfan101so then how did the most efficient offense of all time(being the Kings) lose in the first round to the 10th best offense this season. It’s because Kings were 24th in defense
@@lesnakejames505 I could literally say the exact same for defense: You can score all you want but if you can’t stop your opponent you won’t win and you gotta be able to defend consistently to not allow big runs

The NBA one is pointless bc we already see those teams play and I dont really care if my team win or lose the tournament.
no mikal on the defensive team is so crazy
jrue/mikal/jimmy/giannis/JJJ
30:04 DMills what bro?
For context, bro said from 1999 to now is 21 years lmao. Gotta love DMilly
Good shit on the new segments Mike!
Also underrated handles for a big man I will have to say Boris Diaw! #dropthemike
Yo yo! This episode came in clutch
Ayo the riddle section should be the recurring thing and should also be the one called drop the Mike bc its like a rap
#dropthemike if we counting guys who played as forwards at some point im goin tmac or vc, pg up there though

Appreciate the love for Team Canada - we've never been relevant so I'm hyped!
YALL NEED TO MAKE THESE VIDEOS LOUDER!!!!
“I’m old school drop the balls” one of the wildest things I’ve ever heard top tier comedy

THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN!! TOWWWWNNNN! 😂🥳
“Y’all had to do an episode without me” - d mills “and it was great” - P 😭😭😭😂
Oh I missed Kenny saying it too cuz I laughed too hard the first time
KB is outta his mind on the handling talk
I knew that "superteam" quote that Dame said about LeBron and Durant was gonna come back and bite him 😂😂😂
ttw clips gotta make another ttw no context part cause P saying “i got a weak mouth” HAS to be in one
You can get all the stops you want but if you can't score you won't win you gotta be3 able to score and score consistently
@@lesnakejames505 I could literally say the exact same for defense: You can score all you want but if you can’t stop your opponent you won’t win and you gotta be able to defend consistently to not allow big runs
The only thing about the audio versions is I don’t get to see DMills😞💔
#DropTheMike that season when Magic Johnson played the 4 lol
#dropthemike PG has the best handle. In todays NBA he has one of the best handles even amongst guards. Handles go along with bag talk. And PG bag is deep. As for the behind the back Jordan. Earl the Pearl Monroe had been doing all of this. But gets forgotten all the time.
Mike locked in this episode!
I loved mike segment
Grant Hill doesn't get talked about enough when it comes to wings with a handle.
28:20 Jimmy said "On your head" not "I own you"
For the drop the mic to me is do you want Joe Johnson handle or PG handle
dmills growth is insane. came a long way from them days of sitting silent n looking confused 😂
