The Mandalorian new episode features Baby Yoda eating way too many eggs and pissing off way too many spiders! What Star Wars Easter Eggs did you miss throughout The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 2 -- references to The Empire Strikes Back, The Force Awakens, Return of the Jedi, Star Wars Rebels, Solo, even Galaxy's Edge? Erik Voss gives an in-depth breakdown and analysis of all the hidden details you missed this episode, including secret layers of meaning in the music and translations of the Aurebesh text visible in frame. Why does Mando say "May the Force be with you" to the X-Wing pilots -- and why do they save Mando from the giant spider? Is Peli Motto (Amy Sedaris) secretly betraying Mando? And does Baby Yoda eat the frog eggs just because he's hungry... or is there a deeper more innocent agenda behind his chowdown?

Your first!
yo i have a pair of these shoes it's honestly awesome
i loved that action scene with the spiders and the most scary part was seing baby yoda consume those eggs
i love your vids
babayyoda used force to draw the egg... i doubt he did it for egg safty when min ago he don't like his food
Is it me or is baby yoda making more noises than last season. As in trying to speak more
yes! i noticed this too. i also noticed that mando himself seems to speak more, i wonder if that’s why
I just hope it doesn't come to a point where it becomes over done and corny!✌🏾
@@davidwilkinson3509 My guess is that Baby Yoda started to learn how to speak, so it'll become more frequent but more like language as well as the episodes/seasons go on.
Ill be shocked when he starts speaking like yoda
Baby Yoda: Me dad Mando you are.
The whole episode made me feel anxious. From keeping the eggs safe through the journey, to baby yoda's fall, to the integrity of Razor Crest, and the reduzing number of eggs, the spiders attack...
Last Time I was this early baby yoda didn't have an egg addiction
But he always ate frogs.
He just eats anything frog related
You think baby Yoda would’ve learned his lesson about eating eggs after the whole ice spider attack
Pretty sure they are supposed to be Kinrath from KOTOR. Big spider was Matriarch
No, Baby Yoda (or whatever they'll name him) probably doesn't care about the big spiders. Heck, he'd probably try to eat the matriarch if he could.
@@fisherr62 I think they’re the Krykna from Star Wars Rebels
@@Mael_Str0M or a different sub species of them
@@Mael_Str0M He says in the video they aren't Krykna but instead an original trilogy callback, the Knobby White Spiders. The Krykna were based on them.
"RESCUE" on an aircraft, near the cockpit, indicates where the emergency external cockpit release is. To rescue the pilot in a crash.
Exactly!
I was just about to say the same thing.
Same.
Looks like I am behind the power curve to point this out! But its still a really cool detail to have added!
5:55 The eggs are unfertelized, so he's moving the eggs to him with the Force. Also he's eating them and every time he did so, he's a bit more vocal. If he wants to grow and learn, he needs food.
Exactly. He needs midichlorians dense food and eggs are the highest you can find. He's charging up!
Those are FROG eggs after all. Remember in season one when he just swallowed that frog lol
Spit that out!! Baby Yoda Gulps it down!! That was hilarious 🤣 and awesome!!!
It's almost like his species "thrives" in a place where frog-like amphibians are the main source of food
@@masonmurphy2679 how do you know? we know absolutely nothing about the species or their native planet/food source.
It could also be one of the reasons Yoda fled to Degoba. It's a swamp-like planet. Amphibians live in damp environments, like swamps.
See where I'm going with this?
@@oBudz yes i know but he said their species thrives in a place where amphibians are a main source of food, but he doesn’t know that yet
Baby Yoda's soundtrack sounds like something out of Minecraft.
Rescue is only pointing to a rescue release hatch. Every airplane has them. Cool little detail though
I was about to say the same. :D
came to say this

He did pull an excellent sneak attack at the end there

Maybe Appa is scouting for unique treats for his store?
Am I the only one who noticed that Dave Filoni's rebels helmet had the marks of the 104th clone battalion Wolf Pack?
No you’re not the only one
apparently dave filoni loves wolves so that might just be a fun little decision on his part
Mr. Filoni just loves wolfs

Dave Feloni is a huge fan Plot Moon. So that is the reason of it.
I spot water into my phone when you made the reese peanut butter joke. Well done sir
Hey Joven how are ya
I’m very confused about what you did? Spot water into your phone?
Or “Spat water onto my phone”
Obligatory Joven is blind joke :)
What are you 12?
Did anyone else relalise that at the beggining off the episode you can see some very faint stains off the acid from the krayt dragon from last episode???
I did. I liked that. It was a nice touch.
I saw those too!
Yep. I noticed that and I loved the continuity.
Ya
Yes I saw it. Was green it was in hes mask
Cool fact: I actually took a photo with the Xwing that they used for the scenes in season 1.

@@LaserBeem disneyland
@@LaserBeem it was one of the X-wings they were ready to ship off to Florida for Galaxy’s Edge, but the production team was able to get one on the volume before it was sent to Disney World
That’s cool
How this a fact?
If you looked closely at the artwork at the end of the episode you’ll see the bullet hole of where greedo missed his shot at Han in the canteen.
I just love with then X-Wings put there S-Spoles into attack mode.
That was badass
They are called S-foils. And yes, it was awesome
When Wolf asked Carson to go to Channel Two, I started saying "Watch the S-Foils! Watch the S-Foils!"
@@scotthewitt258 I thought they were called X-Foils.
@@darthbuzz1 no that's on the S-wing fighters. 😉
4:50 Is that also a reference to Lego Star Wars TFA where one of the post credits scenes had BB8 and some pilots using an X-Wing engine in a barbecue.
Can we just appreciate how good the cgi is in these first two episodes. My goodness the puppetry is so nostalgic but the effects are to die for.
Is no gonna talk about the "Don't cry. You'll rust." line in this episode? Clearly a reference to The Wizard of Oz. Does The Wizard of Oz exist in Star Wars? I must know.
That rescue marking is in case the pilot needs rescuing that's where to unlock the hatch
4:44 - 4:47 😂 Am i the only one who loved the Solo movie? 😞
Loved it too
Well not loved it but enjoyed it
I absolutely loved it!
That and rouge one are the only fine star wars disney movies lol
it was awesome
The RESCUE on the side is telling others where to open the canopy in case of an accident
I thought The Child was just using the force to bring the eggs closer
I'm an arachnophobe and this is the one episode I never intend to finish
Ikr when Baby Yoda ate the spider I just couldn’t take it anymore.
What a sad existence
A nice episode tho... Scared the hell of me...
3:45 seeing the bottom half of Eric feels so weird everytime 😂
AGREED
Pretty sure it was CG
It’s because he sitting in a chair
I didn't even notice the 'Baby Yoda theme', this is wonderful!
Im startiing to look past the Mando helm without an antenna thingy and reallly thinking he looks Sick especially almost chromed out
Also, there’s the shot of Mando swiping away a wall of spider webs like that shot from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
the way he got his Jetpack back from the Nikito's was the best LOL
There's a Gigoran in the carina as well. His fur is covered in sand which would definitely happen on tatootine
The "Rescue" inscription is common on fighter jets in the military. It may just be instructions to save the pilot in the event of an emergency.
The RESCUE is just like you would find on any US Military aircraft. It’s where if there is an emergency, it tells emergency crews where to access to RESCUE the crew...
I really was thinking that something was gonna force Mando into hyperspace, killing the eggs, but then Baby Yoda pukes up the rest of eggs that were unharmed because they were inside him.
I thought that too like maybe he's got a second stomach and he's up to something after he sinsed through the force there were valuable little lives in there, but the illusion died when he ate that spider egg.
yes!
That’s not how Physics works
@@diaz6884 it's star wars so...
Anakin: kills children at the temple
The child: Bruh thas cute
?
@Hongkong Player oh yeah lol
well, once they're fertilized they become fetuses, till then they're like chicken eggs. Buuuuuut, they are still eggs from a sentient species, so it's less like eating babies and more like eating eggs taken from a woman's ovaries, which is just as jacked up... and a mental image I now regret creating >.
I absolutely LOVED that mando used his jet pack to catch his fall.
A jet pack seems like it would easily become something that would too easily solve problems, like transporters in Star Trek and therefor couldn’t be used 99% of the time.
So him actually using it to solve those sort of problems is really refreshing.
Baby yoda is using the force when he stares into the jar.... he’s trying to FORCE them into his mouth 😂😂😂
5:15 Jabba asked Han why did he "fry poor Greedo"
Your insight into film is really impressive.
This is the 5th video review I see about Mandalorian Chapter 2, and no doubt you are the Rockstar!!! Your videos are the most interesting and detailed of them all. Congrats!
(Mando carrying the child , running away from spiders)
Mando: Great, kid..great...always thinking with your stomach.
The "Rescue" marking is a common marking on combat planes to help in recovery if the craft goes down for any particular reason. They usually mark a point on the craft where there is an easy access point to the pilot and/or passengers inside.
Typically in aviation at least on this planet, markings are made (usually in yellow) to indicate where to cut or open for the rescue of the pilot/crew. This is what I think is meant by the rescue on the side of the X-Wing as it points just to the aft side of the canopy.
Fun fact: There were originally more Easter Eggs in this episode but that greedy little bastard ate them.
Kind of surprised you didn't comment on Dave Filoni's helmet having the Wolfpack icon from The Clone Wars
Baby Yoda being a little sneak, smiling those eggs was simultaneously adorable and horrifying. It really built tension in the episode. You wanted him to eat, just not that precious cargo. But he enjoys it so much, it's hard to be mad at him. 🤷♂️
@9:19 the RESCUE label is standard on military aircraft -- it signals where the handle/lanyard to blow canopy can be accessed to facilitate rescue of the crew
I got some serious Harry Potter and the Chamber Secrets vibes from the spider scene as well. Very reminiscent of Harry and Ron running from Aragog in the forbidden forrest.
I had the same thought as well. I wouldn't be surprised if the animators and directors watched that scene and was like "Yeah this is how we want the spiders to move"
Rescue on the side of craft typically refers to how to rescue the pilot of in distress.
@9:17
The “rescue” label and icon is a typical symbology that you find on military aircraft. It shows where one can trigger an explosive release of a cockpit canopy in case of a ground emergency. It’s akin to something like a fire alarm or “break glass in case of emergency” type of scenario. It would most likely be used by ground crew, more than likely emergency personnel such as firefighters on a military flight line or carrier deck, especially if the pilot or aircrew is incapacitated or unconscious.
It was amazing how the two X-Wing pilots were crack shots while we see that Stormtropers can't hit the broad side of a barn.
They're not wearing restrictive helmets while firing blasters built by the lowest bidder.
@@pigs18 or the barn has plot armor?
Baby is pulling those eggs towards him. And he is just hungry...and without manners :)
Weren't the Krykna Spiders based off that same concept art, since rebels used a lot of Ralph Macquari's art? Doesn't that make them a variation of the species since they are kinda different?

06:53,I didn’t know Mr Kim was also a x wing pilot when he wasn’t running the convenience store 😂
I love all the research and references thank you!
Trapper Wolf's astromech is another R5 unit, I suspect they just re-used the one they used as R5-D4. I had to check because I thought they might try and make a nod to Chopper or CH-33P. Lol.
Did anyone else notice dave has two wolf pack symbols on his helmet. Pretty cool reference to the wolf pack being his favourite clone battalion.
Excellent episode
BABY YODA: *I ate not just the frogs but the eggs too! I ATE THEM!*
Same here. I first thought Baby Yoda was swallowing some eggs just for a plot twist that all the eggs get lost in the end and that he can regurgitate a couple and save the day. Even though when you see the size of those things he could not possibly keep enough room in his stomach for them.
5:51
wide baby yoda
Baby yoda is getting hungrier
They were freaking me out with baby yoda
6:18
I thought he could be keeping them safe but he did swallow a frog before too.
Any current or former Catholic has fought the urge to reply “And also with you”, when told “May the Force be with you”. This is the first time I’ve heard it said back! 😁
Thank you 🙏
Great analysis. Well done gang. Looking fwd to next week!
Are we not gonna mention commander Wolfe’s wolf pack symbol on Dave filoni’s helmet at 6:55
The “RESCUE>” logo is pointing to the emergency canopy release. It’s found on many fighter jets.
generally speaking with aircraft when rescue is put in an area close to the cockpit like that its more either there's a manual release for the canopy there or its a cut here to break open the canopy quickly (not in military so im not sure which of the two it is)
Erik on his roof: OOPS I GOT MY SHOE WET, but my feet are DRY!
His neighbors watching through the window: * __ *
You have hear the force rumble when baby yoda presses his face to the tank and raises his hand to make them float towards him.
Good video as always
This is my favorite Mandalorian-deep-dive channel. Such detail!
I believe the "Rescue" notation on the X-Wing is likely mirroring marking on military aircraft. It signifies where emergency crews can access the cockpit via an external means.
The 'Rescue' marking on the X-Wing refers to an external canopy release in case of emergencies. The same marking is found on most modern fighter craft.
This episode was definitely a different feeling than the first episode last Friday mainly because there was less crazy action stuff happening but I like that they did that.
Rescue on the X-Wings might refer to the usual marking in jet fighters on how to unlatch the canopy from the outside
Breaking news: baby Yoda and Mando terrorize a cave inhabited by ice spiders that leads to mass genocide.
"Rescue" is a common word written on all fighter air craft. Its there to designate a removable panel where a manual over ride for the cockpit hatch lock is located. So when a jet goes down and the hatch is locked "rescue" teams can over ride and access the cock pit. Still a cool detail.
4:44 Accurate and a BIG laugh!
Im not the only one that’s noticing the egg theme right? Like there was the Mudhorn egg in season 1 and then in season two Peli Mottos reference about Baby Yoda reproducing, the krayt dragon pearl which is “egg like”, then the frog woman’s eggs, and then the spider eggs
I think baby yoda was using the force to make the eggs go towards him
Pretty cool that the producers, reminded us- in the moment that Mando ignited his jetpack- that he has control of it-via his wrist, so that later on in this scene when he flips the script on the asshole pointing a knife at baby yoda, we know that he is going to get his jetpack returned. lil cool detail there.
Wow. Props to Eric/NRS for noticing that the Ant fella and Frog gal were in the cantina last season. I wish the main Star Wars movies had this kind of nominal foresight/planning.
5:58 was that not BY using the force?
"Rescue" is painted on fighter aircraft and others to safely pop the canopy off the jet so the pilot can escape. This is an option for ground crew to rescue the pilot if he can't open the canopy quick enough. I don't think it has to do with their mission/overall purpose. Awesome episode!
“Rescue” is used on military aircraft to indicate where the emergency hatch release is located. I wouldn’t read anything into that.
Niktos had the child at the very beginning of the series. So its very well they could have their own motive, for sure
when the baby yoda themed played, it made me feel like i was in a dream
The rescue marking is to point to a manual release for the canopy for pilot rescue.
The "Rescue" on the x-wings isn't related to Search & Rescue. It's painted on aircraft to point to an access panel that jettisons doors and canopies to facilitate faster rescue of the occupants.
*Mando and baby yoda get attacked by a army of spiders*
Baby yoda: *Slurps egg*
I thought that about the eggs to! He is protecting them!
The word rescue on the x wings is actually something that all fighter jets have, it’s to allow whoever on the outside of the plane/ship to eject the canopy so they can be rescued if they can’t open it themselves.
I assumed Baby Yoda was using the Force to get a closer look at the eggs
That “hi i’m erik voss” shirt is awesome haha!
I thought the droid roasting the meat was a nod to Wall-E lol
May the force be with you this is the way
