    It only seems to really help when towing and you don’t want the rpm to drop out of the power band.
    With the stock motor it’s just going to throw it up into the flat zone quicker when you dig through the gears.

      Trucks really aren't meant for racing in the first place, and those damn crappy 4 speeds don't help it at all, 4.10/4.56 gears work really well in a truck if you have a big enough stall converter too take advantage of the shift extensions that big stalls naturally have like a 3600+ stall

    • @drivinwithdrew7676
      @drivinwithdrew7676  3 роки тому

      Like my 383 which has a 3800rpm stall and 4.10s, rpms never drop below 5k on the shift

    Hp vs torque
    That truck's engine is made for torque. Lower gear just gave you more torque.
    You need a cam that'll wake that engine up. Those heads should be fine.
    Gears and cam go hand in hand.
    Video rocked. Loved the way you got to the point and showed the data.

      Drivin with Drew nice. I already have headers and Tuned it as aggressive as possible. Use it mostly on E85. Also a 150 shot of nitrous. Works pretty good just not to good in the 60 foot. 410s should help. I got a video on my channel. Should check it out. The one where it’s on the DYNO.

      Id highly recommend you look at a gear vendors before you spend the money on a set of gears, its an over drive unit that you can use to split gears as well and combined with a 4L80 you can run really short gears like 4.88's and get better mileage than stock as well. Easily one of the best mods you can do to a truck if you ask me, a little 5.3 will run 12's all day with 4.56's and a good cam and being able to split gears I don't doubt high 11's are out of the realm of possibility

      You’re right, with the tune it had at the time, and a stock converter, the 4.10s will only do so much, once it has a converter, the gears will come into play more. It’s all about obtaining the right combination, and this was one piece to the puzzle,
