Our very first time in Tokyo Japan June 2023, it was very stressful, my blood pressure up due to the complex train system... we were so lost but people are helpful... they would even walk us to our destination...but once you uncover the system, it will be all good... it is country where u can splurge or be frugal... vending machines everywhere... Also... bring cash... lots of it... sometimes credit card not accepted...its a country of law abiding citizens... u have to carry ur trash...very clean...very discipline❤
It’s so clean, is what I would hear every tourist would say when I would have conversations with people. Love it! The bidet toilets are such a plus in Japan. Coming back to the US after was sad going to the restroom. Lol! My Japanese friend always said that the food/sushi is still so good quality in grocery and convenient stores and always such beautiful presentation. Enjoy your time in Japan!
Japan is said to be a cash country but the digital money technology itself is super advanced. However, I heard that japan is making sure physical money is being circulated and being used as digital money use grows, because when and if a great outage happens, people would have cash to get by. These outages could happen from system errors, server facility being destroyed due to natural disaster or war, or hackers. Japan is being cautious with every technological advancement it makes that might impact their society. There is a huge risk being Hyper-Connected with the rest of the world over the digital system. It makes an entire country vulnerable to cyber attacks. When you see or hear about Japan being “late” in some technological areas, there’s always a reason behind it. It’s not because Japan doesn’t have the capability. It’s because Japan is being cautious and careful or they have their own agenda. China faced problems with digitalizing money everywhere. People in china dont keep much hard cash. When there were system outages, people werent able to buy food or make payments. They struggled.
Small tip to make arriving in japan a bit easier to navigate. They usually sell welcome suicas/or pasmos cards when you arrive at the major aiports. I think you can add them to your phone as well. Charge them at ticket machines, and then tap your phone or card where you would insert your ticket just before entering the platform. Then you dont need to buy the ticket separately. Those cards last 30 days I think. It is possible to get permanent pasmo and suica cards for longer stays.
Thankyou glen and mado for showing the Philippines I hope you enjoy your time in Australia keep it up and God bless I can't wait for Japan tour of yours❤
I lived in Oskar in the 90's an it has always been amazing but strange. 7 Eleven and Lawson's are similar convenience stores. Because the food has to be sold near closing time supermarkets and convenience stores mark down their food. Please use the Soy and wasabi for the sashimi and sushi it is better that way. Love from New Zealand.
Welcome to Japan 😊. You guys are so smart visiting the supermarket the timing. You can get many items for cheap prices. Next time you should ask the workers free soy sauce for sushi and dressing for salad (if you don’t see any dressing on top of the salad, you can buy. It is about ¥30-50 for small portions. ) If you don’t have chopsticks, they will hand to you for free.
Japan has a strict health inspection for almost everything. So products for stores and even convenience stores have a short shelf life (which is better). But because of it, they have to throw away most of their products after 24 hours, so they half the price to try to sell it. It's a great deal
Sushi every day sounds like the thing to do. Love your content guys. Been following from when you arrived here in New Zealand. Safe Travels from Aucklands, Northshore.
I am Japanese. Just because it is quiet doesn’t mean you absolutely have to stay silent. They are just quiet because they are alone. Normally, as long as you don’t speak loudly, you can talk at a normal volume. However, I really appreciate your considerate attitude.
It’s considered very rude to get on public transport wearing such a huge backpack . You should hold it in front of you. It’s one of my pet peeves to have a foreign tourist’s dirty backpack in my face on a crowded train . ( and I’m not even Japanese but have been living here many years. )
hahhaa😂😂😂😂 I would never dare travel to japan without learning the language first😂😂 My favorite country of Anime, You should have Translator in your phone, Just use the camera and it will translate, anyways thanks for sharing
Hi Mado and Glen, if you're going out shopping in Japan, you should bring your own shopping bags to bring home your stuffs with you for rubbish is well organized in Japan. You will not see any single rubbish bins anywhere on the streets of this country. Your rubbish, bring it home.
Welcome in Japan 🫶🏻Japan has many earthquakes, so there are times when there are power outages. In Japan, it's better to have at least some cash with you
Nah, taking transit is perfectly fine. Yes, do try to avoid travelling during rush hour if possible, but as long as you're mindful of others it's perfectly fine.
Welcome to Japan and Osaka. Osaka is a great town with plenty to do and cheap food. Must try tako yaki (fried octopus balls). I assume you're also going to Kyoto and Nara?

Omg, you guys are eating sushi without any soy sauce?😂How could you eat it like that? When you buy sushi, you always get a little packet of soy sauce and wasabi for free!😆
You shouldn't wear your luggage on your back on the trains. You might have noticed but the Japanese wear their backpacks on the front when they get on the trains because you may inadvertently hit people when you turn to talk or move around.
Interesting! You stayed in an apartment and went to a local supermarket. It was unfortunate that you didn’t have soy source for the Sushi. You didn’t find it in the container? Otherwise you could have asked the shop Clark to give you soy source. Enjoy Japan!
You may not have received free soy sauce from Life Shop. If that were the case, I think the sushi would be tasteless. Also, if your hotel does not have a microwave, it is efficient to use the LIFE SHOP microwave. If you have trouble using chopsticks, it is convenient to get a fork for free at a convenience store.
If you purchased a transportation card such as ICOCA or Suica with a 500 yen deposit and put 10,000 yen into it, you don't have to buy a ticket every time, and you can easily pass through the ticket gate smoothly. Furthermore, convenience stores, supermarkets, fast food chains, and most restaurants accept transportation cards such as ICOCA and Suica. You can also purchase them from about harf of vending machines. Please should do it a try. You can also install it on your smartphone. Soy sauce and wasabi are sometimes available free of charge in the sushi section. Look for them when eating sushi. It tastes better with soy sauce😃
Looking forward to watching your Japanese adventure! 😊💜
