    Great video! I found your explanations about stuttering your breath and how you camouflage your breathing into your playing to be very helpful for where I'm at right now. While experimenting with them I had that "ahah!" moment and got really into it but had to quiet it down when I heard the baby shift behind me!
    I've actually found I can play pretty quietly by pressing the armature against my lips instead of my teeth. It gives it a very muted quality with no travel, but when I'm just sitting working on my strumming or something, it keeps me from disturbing my wife or kiddo when they need quiet time.

    That is what I love about playing the Jawharp, it is all individualize to our own essence and personality. And to play well all you have to do is to play and learn to use your Whole Breath.
    You don't have had to already known how to play or have learned any other instrument before.
    But your information is of great help in learning. Thanks Jamie

    Thanks for sharing! I’ve been playing for about 6 months after hearing someone else play in a ceremony. I play all the time and I’m starting to get my own style now. 🙂

    I think it's fun to do this with a tuner app on sometimes, so I can not only hear the changes I'm making but see the difference as well 🙃

    I've been listening to a lot of jawharp music. And boy! do styles vary. I may have my preferences but sifting through what's available recorded is a confusing task. I'm not that keen on shamanistic playing and I like some of the hip hop jh out of Europe. So I'm asking folks if they have any recommendations for players I should listen to. Indeed what are the essential listens, do you think?

    I just subscribed to you so i can learn some techniques. I got my harp today and i already love it.
    The only thing that bothers me is that when i hit the trigger/loop it resonates like a metal sound, like, you'd flick a thin metal. I'm not sure if it's supposed to do this. It was cheap for 10 bucks so i guess that's normal? It's an Ozark Harp.

    • @bebbcorpharpery7331
      @bebbcorpharpery7331  6 років тому

      What is the name of the harp? You can also polish the trigger a bit and it works when a trigger is rough and does this.

    • @Zerokimchii
      @Zerokimchii 6 років тому

      Bebbcorp Harpery its an ozark i think? Or Schwarz. They both have the wide handle when i google them. It's small and the trigger is like an L, quite sharp. Not sure if this helps haha. I'll look up about the polishing. Thanks for the reply!

    Can this technique be used with a Pavel Potkin Vargan, or is that harp not really designed for melodics?

    • @bebbcorpharpery7331
      @bebbcorpharpery7331  8 місяців тому +1

      Potkin tend to vary in quality. I have en Potkin that are perfect for this and some others that were pretty fuzzy. But also practice most to all techniques on any harps you got.

      @@bebbcorpharpery7331 I'm still deciding which one to get first. I'm leaning towards the Potkin, but I like that the Drymba isn't as loud so I can practice at night once the kids are in bed.

    What do you mean by the word saturation? do you mean harmonic distortion of some kind? thanks

    • @bebbcorpharpery7331
      @bebbcorpharpery7331  5 років тому

      Saturation is an abundance of higher overtones. It is the crackling nature of Glazyrin, some Szilagyi, and many other harps.

      Can I play E note in Glazrin wave???

    • @bebbcorpharpery7331
      @bebbcorpharpery7331  5 років тому +1

      No, the wave are pitched well beneath the e note. You can get a petrel and tune it to e. Or buy a Blackfire in e, is good for rhythmic play.
