A clarification on the trains. They are NOT Millennium Flyers from GCII, but instead “GCII Custom Trains.” The Custom Trains were built with the headrests for riders 46”-50”, lapbar monitoring system, and were constructed to run specifically on Roller Coaster’s Track, including the use of Switchable ECBs.

I rode this during the 100th anniversary year and it was my roughest-ever experience on the Roller Coaster. Might have just been a heavier slate of guests than usual, or there may have been some minor maintenance hicccups. I hope they got it straightened out, because even though it definitely shows its age in the design, it's still a pretty fun ride usually. Always worth a circuit or two. Looking forward to another 100 years!

There are only an exceptionally few more wooden coasters that are less likely to be rmc-ed. This coaster is a registered historic landmark, an Icon of Lagoon, received a recent update to the station and trains, and still is one of the major draws for lagoon. Additionally Lagoon has been designing or building new coasters and typically only reaches out to traditional manufactures for trains. In short there is no need, and no desire, and even if there was, a historical society would have to sign off on everything RMC would do, greatly limiting what could be done.
I rode this with both the custom millenium flyers and the ptc trains and I gotta say it rides way better with the custom millenium fliers. When it had the PTC trains the ride was substantially rougher and i didn’t really like that much. The gci overhaul was much needed and drastically helped the ride in my opinion.
I always enjoy the classics, even if they aren't the strongest. Even though I don't bring much into a park, I love that Lagoon has free lockers. I didn't even know about that before.
Hey, I am loving these lagoon videos! You should do a review on more lagoon roller coasters like spider, jet star, the bat, wild mouse, colossus, bombora, and puff the little fire dragon! You should also do a review on the park as a whole and a review on their haunt, frightmares. Thank you!
I got to ride it with its most recent trains and the ones that came before it. I may be in the minority here, but I really loved the older trains more than the newest ones. Especially the lapbar. On the older trains, the lap bar started to click immediately as you started to pull it down. Allowing to be a few inches off your body if you wanted for great airtime, and they would still dispatch even in thay scenario. But with the newer trains, it has to be a set distance down before the computer recognizes it as locked or before even hearing the first click. As is for some, I have gained a lot of size since my youth and trying to ride it now, depending on the day, I have to have the attendants push hard to get it to lock, or I am able to do it myself but it is still tight. Every other coaster in the park I have no trouble with even with my size. Although I am trying to lose some size off the mid section, and even if I am able to, I would still prefer the older trains lapbars as I could still keep the bar a couple inches from my waist whether I am big still or not.
On the original ptc trains, the lowest position on the ptc trains still rested a good few inches above my lap. Also, I'm my experience, the front row doesnt give any airtime, and the back row gives some weak pops.
@@CanobieCoaster I've ridden it a few times in the old trains, and almost all my rides have been with the new trains. I feel like you do get a pop of ejector in the front here or there, but it's so brief that it doesn't feel like airtime.
I don't like heights so this ride is perfect for me. The oldies are always the perfect height. Back then it was more about fun and less about thrills or over the top thrills. its a shame its less like that these days, parents always forcing their kids to go on high rides. Not everyone wants to. Even some adults. I want to have fun not feel scared. The mouse coasters are another example.
Personally I prefer the new trains. The old ones didn't have padded sides which made the laterals a bit painful sometimes. The fully articulated trains also track better in my opinion.
They really need to paint this coaster white again. That's the color it was designed to be. I know it would be expensive now but each plank should have been painted as they replaced them.
It was originally brown, aka natural wood, and was not painted white until the late 20s or early 30s. It potentially was painted white after the foundations had to be replaced in the mid 20s due to a flood.
@@askjeevescosby2928 The problem is the paint obstructs important things the carpentry inspectors need to see each day during their inspection. Safety ALWAYS comes first.
It might just be nostalgia for me, but my favorite look was when it had a mixed white and brown look. I really don't mind the brown, though, because it makes it look older and just fits in better with the area.
Canobie Coaster would say: For a ride as old as it is, Roller Coaster rides smoother than you'd expect. The ride sounds rough from the sounds the trains make, but it actually tracks well. Some of the valleys I specifically noted are a bit bumpy, but it's overall fairly smooth for a wood coaster. That is probably helped by the ride's modest speed. That ties into my next point though. This ride does not have the strongest pacing. You noticeably slow down atop several turns and hills. I can look past a lack of speed if all the hills still deliver, but there are a few on this ride that don't quite offer the airtime I expected. So what would I rate Roller Coaster?
With the most generic name for any roller coaster, literally, it may be old and that's what makes it good, I sure hope the millinium flyers didn't ruin the experience and forces.
I am old enough to have ridden the PTC trains with buzz bars, the same that Knoebel’s Phoenix has today and it was a faster and better ride with much more air time. The current trains are just awful, heavy and slow.
