• The Manhattan Transfer...
Too bad they've decided to hang up their microphones as of December 2023. I have enjoyed this group ever since I first heard of them in the mid 70s. Having 11 of their CDs will testify to the fact that they really have tickled my ear. Thanks so much for sharing your vast talents with us for all these years.....
I'm SO GLAD THESE PEOPLE FOUND EACH OTHER MUSICALLY.
Love this version...Manhattan Transfer is awesome ALWAYS and FOREVER
we are all in the twigh light zone when we listen to manhatten transfer
YYYYyyyyyes! @@michaelireland7239
The amount of goose bumps I got from this almost makes me worry for my health... and hands down the best “harmonica” I’ve ever heard...
This is so finely performed it is flawless if you can't appreciate this you don't have a hip bone in your body
The Greatest VOCAL GROUP EVER!!!!
That Bentyne solo is STELLAR!!!
In a word "OUTSTANDING"!!!! The crystal clear vocals and harmonies are IT!!!!
this has to be the FUNKIEST version i've ever heard of this song.. literally bouncing off the walls rn
TMTs. Still Cool. Still Happening! Hoping to get them over to the Green island Ireland, next year! 2023. One can wish, right?! Love the newish “The Junction.”
The Instrumentals and vocals by the Manhattan Transfer in this version of the Herbie Hancock classic are simply astounding!! Their talent is breath taking!!
Love the fact that they are still doing music.
Was put on UA-cam 5 years ago.
Who knows what they're doing now.
Unless you look it up.
Lunch time for me.
Man Tran is back! Trist Curless fits in perfectly! Mr. Hauser would be very proud.
Better not call them Man Tran. They might be banned in FL & TX.
As close to perfection as I can imagine
This brings tears to my eyes. Too good to be true, unbelievable.
I miss Tim Hauser's voice, but this is really tight. Tim would be proud!
I'm pretty sure that I've never heard before a better example of "pedal" effects applied to a vocal polyphony -not to mention the fact that this "four voiced instrument" is the coolest of his era so far.
Sophisticated Pop, Contemporary Jazz and Fusion owes all appreciation to these top notch artists -name it performers, improvisers, entertainers...
Threfore, I really hope that new generations of musicians will do listen and study, thoroughly, the MT subject.
Loads of love from Spain! ✌🏿✌🏿
i love this version as well, manhattan transfer outdid themselves once again! RIP Tim Hauser, you will still be proud of the group.
No tengo palabras. Siempre imitados, jamás igualados. The Manhattan Transfer sigue siendo LA referencia en el Jazz Vocal…
¡¡QUÉ ASOMBROSO SONIDO!!!
Herbie Hancock, simplemente GENIAL…!!!
1.24.2024 - one can always be surprised with music on YT. .. . i was listening to Cantaloop by US3 and i never knew the Transfer covered this. Sweet.
We need this uplifting music 😊😂😂😂😂😂
wonderful arrangement of Herbie Hancock song. Perfect tribute to founding member, Tim Hauser.
And yet it's not all Herbie.
OMG....! Incredible harmonies... fantastic arrangement of a Herbie Hancock classic. Vocal solo starting at 3:19 is jazz scat at its finest. Blown away.....
I can’t stop listening to this tune
There is high-class music. Then there is classier than that. And then the classiest. And then on top of all that - Manhattan Transfer.
Perfection of vocalese! For me, they make it sound so easy, but it's not. I'm lovin' it, and the more challenging, the better!
The most precise, agile, and lush-crunchy you've ever been. Fresh.
This is what I call the Manhattan Transfer at their very best. This is TMT of old (35 /45 years ago.) Give me this any day of the week .
My dad got me listening to this group and the very first song he had me listen to was Birdland... I’m honestly so glad that he introduced me to them. Also this song is super tight. I love listening to the dissonance in the harmonies.
My high school music teacher, and I was instantly hooked!
Thanks for posting
amazing , so happy they
are back and how . a tribute to Tim , what a tribute . Love is here
Just saw them live at the Blue Note last night. Love them!
I was lucky enough to see Manhattan Transfer live in Traverse City, Michigan. They performed this song. Amazing. I was blown away. Front row seat baby, at the City Opera House.
you're lucky
3 months ago in London, baby
That's still one of the deepest, funkiest, catchiest grooves I have ever heard. It relaxes and pleases the mind. Makes me want to stay there. :P
Yes yes yes !...Flip Out!...♪♫ Groovy groovy jazzy funky pounce bounce dance ....♫...
This goes immediately into the legs, makes good mood and invites singing along - ingeniously arranged and interpreted
You couldn't make this up and get better than this!
Don’t stop, Tim would be so proud of his family!
Saw the MT in London on Tuesday night in the flesh for the first time. Absolutely brilliant, been a fan ever since their Extensions album. And this track from their new album was awesome.
Was blessed to meet them backstage in 1990-1991 tour here in Atlanta, Georgia. Spent about an hour with them, and sang my heart out with them! Oh how I wanted to join them, but only if they were auditioning. That was the next best thing! Cheryl even knew that I had perfect pitch, and what a thrill that was to hear that from her, because I don't like to toot my own horn. Pat Metheny's the same way, and that man, along with The Manhattan Transfer, Josh Groban, Celine Dion and Enya have all influenced my desire to sing even more once I discovered them. I always wanted to sing since I was 6 years old, but my family with the exception of my mother and grandparents on her side of the family were not supportive. They were too scared of the rest of the family who threatened to disown me if I even thought about taking that first step of getting in the door with it. I stuck with it, and love what I can do, and Lord willing, I might still be able to make music for time to come.
So smooth, funky, upbeat, energetic, and happy~
Those Harmonies are insanely brilliant...
MERVYN WARREN will FOREVER be the arranging
🐐🐐🐐
As well being as one of the COLDEST vocalists back in the day....unrivalled globally in the pop scene - and I'll gladly die on that hill!!
His sound can NEVER be duplicated!!
This song is one of my favorites and this arrangement is exceptional. The definition of "tight"!
This is literally part of my childhood playlist.
Dad got me hooked to the shaker song, and the rest is everything! (Vocalese is my fav album!)
This is such a terrific album.Great to garden to.
Oui!!!! Merci!!!! C ést ça!!!!!
Oh yeah soooo smooth they've grown up ! cant stop smiling at this version best by far makes you really want to groove dance to this and the way they hit those notes whooo!!
Oh yeah!
Use to play the US3 version. This version is simply wow 😮😮😮
Having heard arrangements of this since the original Herbie Hancock Cantaloop Island I have to say - this one is my favorite. No question that Manhattan Transfer continues to be master's of the tight harmony high speed vocalese. With a song like this you might expect a vocalese version to be a bit clunky - but not these guys, I can't stop bopping it in my chair at work!
Completely agree. The song seems simple, so various Toms, Dicks and Dunning-Krugers have attempted to capture it, with lukewarm results, but the tune calls for tightness, discipline and crispness, which MT are very good at.
Have you ever heard this one?... ua-cam.com/video/sA_Ngg8mAcU/v-deo.html
Daniel Perreault bopping with you.
Absolutely agree!! The Manhattan Stranfer is THE reference in Jazz vocal…
@@BrennanYoung ;Toms, Dicks and Dunning-Krugers' chapeau!

Never mind! it was a great pleasure...
Musical emotional beat to the heart
It's Manhattan Transfer!! What else would you expect respect but excellence?
Yeah! Very hip! Nice work, as always. Always evolving too! :) And the key change around 3:07. I've always loved this tune as well as playing it. This really genius arranging and great singing!

I heard this on the radio like ~3 years or so back, sometimes I just stop by once in a while, and 3 years beyond that it’s now been re-recommended to me :v
Fantastic. This whole collection is stunning, infectious, and irresistible. Musicianship, harmonic blend, production value, and Alan Paul's "Sometimes I Do" vocal--my new go-to listen.
They are another one of those long lasting music groups that will never die out of popularity.
Examples:
1. Manhattan transfer
2. Skillet
3. Fourplay
4. Take 6
And Many others
