@ 03:00 As a PCB designer I use to put those layer counts on PCB's but stopped when no one cared many years ago. It is nice to have them as you can see where the planes are in the board stack up.
UA-cam's new ad system REALLY likes this video
Thanks for making these so early!
We know we are gonna be okay for 2021, it is going back to normal finally as BZ is uploading a video exceeding 60 minutes.
The Z490 Ultra did have a postcode. The X570 Ultra didn't.
@@ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking did you cover/saw the Z590 AORUS TACHYON?
I think we are all in for a real shock when the prices comes out. I bet that UD is at least $190. That's why it has ~$200 feature set, because it's going to be a ~$200 board.
49:06 one issue with the ITX board is the non standard fan connectors, but I believe they include an adapter.
wow that DP input is interesting on the vision boards. I'm not sure I've seen it before.
Glad to hear Gigabyte is looking for tough feedback. I'm looking closely at the boards they are offering.
It's called "Product Stacking" bro. Use that terminology and your viewers will more easily understand the unneeded excess features at top of the motherboard range. Go Buildzoid!
Normiefication squad!
16:42 - z590 Pro AX gets 4 M.2 slots (3 off the cpu) by having 2 M.2 slots potentially steal 8x PCIe 4.0 lanes from the 16x PCIe 4.0 slot (embracing that 8x PCIe 4.0 is good enough life). Might be an OK gamble, as long as you don't get squeezed by GPU availability and decide to run a PCIe 3.0 limited card (like a 2080ti) in your build with a bunch of m.2 drives.
44:20 - z590 Aorus Extreme is something outside my price class, but I am intrigued by the Fan Stop feature in Smart Fan 6. "FAN/PUMP Stop - Enables or disables the fan/pump stop function. You can set the temperature limit using the temperature curve. The fan or pump stops operation when the temperature is lower than the limit." I am intrigued about the idea of stopping most fans into my case when a 20 phase monster is idling... if for no other reason the idea of an idle computer reducing fans contributing to dust buildup. Not +$400 intrigued though (and it turns out that Fan Stop feature is in all the z590/z490 Smart Fan 6/5 lineup I've opened the manuals for so maybe it's not restricted to the expensive boards).
This Ultra seems more like the Z490 Master than the Z490 Ultra.
They should bifurcate the top cpu M.2 slot so that it runs at 4x with one or 2x/2x if the top 2 M.2 slots are used, Due to having pcie3 x8 to the chipset the bottom 2 should be pcie3 x4/x4. That way users can get the most flexability in M.2 without screwing with the PCIE X16 gpu slot. Traces and switching would be hard though.
The Z590 UD has way more USB ports than the X570 Godlike a.k.a Quadlike.
UD, gaming x and aorus elite all have 8 usb
buildzoid: mOre Usbs
@@ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking no, i meant that they all had equal number of ports but you said that there are more. also no offense, just a little mistake i for some reason found funny.
Buildzoid is MY bestfriend:)
37:26 1 BIG + for me with the master compared to the ultra is a 2nd USB 3.2 port.
I LOVE usb ports and my Lian Li case has 4 usb3 ports at the front of the case, 2 at the bottom and 2 on the front-top.
Both needs 1 usb 3.2 connector on the motherboard so for me 2 times a usb 3.2 is almost a must.
Z590I VisionD is the first board to make me consider Intel in 5 years, but as I would use it as a secondary streaming PC (and most people would use it for similar purpouses) this is the kind of board that seems poised to price itself out of its only audience, so I'm not getting my hopes up. Nobody spends more than $250 for a motherboard for a secondary rig.
The aorus pro ax is not going to be sold in the US. Why???
Just bought a Z590 UD for RM700=$168 here in Malaysia. Gonna try to pair it with my i7 10700.
For some strange reason... this helps me work lol
Hi BZ. Thanks for the reviews. Now I know that you love the xtremebut they are un available .The Master is still available up here in western Alberta. As is the ultra . Now to keep the cost affordable you also spoke about the MSI unify .However it only comes in z590i format . So now I have to choose between MSI Ace ( which is on preorder as are all the z590 MSI Boards )or Gigabyte Master ,ultra .
Now with all the shortages of GPU'S, and major platform architectures forthcoming (DDR 5,power supply mods,Socket pin counts in both AMD 5 , intel 1700 pin count ) ,,,it really makes me wonder if I should proceed with any pc builds for the next 16 months. So now if you have any recommendations that you can spare time on thinking about this delema which everyone is facing, please share your thoughts. Thanks BZ.
I got a Z590 Ultra for €180 and a i7 11700k for €250 I'm going to have to watch some tutorials I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to over clocking
isn't the thunderbolt chipset integrated into the CPU from this generation?
For weeks, I thought I wanted a B550 and 5600X upgrade...then I just realized that Z560+i5 11-600k was just as fast and the Ultra is a FAR SUPERIOR mobo than the overpriced B550 ($150) and 5600x ($160). I can get a Z590 Ultra for @$115 and i5-11600k used for $150. The specs for B550 mobos are piss poor!
worth upgrading from z490 aorus master to z590 aorus master for a 10900k user? running a flat 5100 mhz 24x7 wondering if the beefier VRMs would be worth having. Z77 UP7 and Z87 G1 Sniper 5 are still my favorite two gig boards of all time!
Finally those discrete mosfets to power the CPU are gone for good even for the lowest lineup
I miss when Gigabyte just had UD nomenclature with minor changes... It was easier back then.
They priced these amzingly
dang, i thought you could "cheat" and peep the spec sheet by adding /sp on the end of the url 🤣
Did you ever get hands on with the Z590 Ultra? I got it and its nice but the bios of Gigabytes boards is odd. Anyways I am having issues with the Intel 1225-V Lan card. Error 10 driver fails to load randomly and cannot start. I google Intel 1225 and discover the horror stories. Any takes on this? Should I return my board and get say a Z490 MSI ACE? The unify is not available and the Z590 Master is not either.
So wait, with this board you could actually fill three PCI-E slots without dropping your primary slot below x16 speed? I bought the z590-e gaming thinking that was the case, but they don't have it configured that way so I am disappointed... and they want to charge a 15% restocking fee. But that is beside the point. I am super interested in being able to install three cards without decreasing the speed of my primary card.
LEts give the best heat sink to the boards which dont need them and the worst to the ones which would a better one
BZ stop whining ang go buy yourself one of those keysight 110GHz oscilloscopes :)
that should do the trick for transient analysis, i think
Probably need an overclock in Patreon before he decide to go nuts with transient
So my z490 carbon wifi was DOA and my 10900KF is sad, no budget if I don’t upgrade for at least 5-6 years and want top of the line, would the master work good, I typically overclock more than I do gaming lol.
B560 aorus pro 175 euros... Gaming x 158.... What shall i buy? Its confusing. Also UD same price with gaming x.
Cant wait for memory overclocking videos on any of these, pick 5 random kits and clock them to 4900....
@Buildzoid so.. .what you think about the Z490 ULTRA VRM, will it be sufficient for i7 11700K and some overclocking?
I own a mobo like that and a 10600k, purchased the board to update to 11th gen i7, but now not sure at all, if the Z490 ULTRA will be a neat board for that CPU :/
the Z490 Ultra VRM is the same VRM that the Z590 Elite has but with better heatsinks IIRC.
@@ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking you mentioned in your video, that Z590 ULTRA is for OC. How about the Z490 ULTRA, do you think it will still be sufficient for i7 11700K and OC it?
@@playr667 The Z490 ULTRA has 12+1 55A mosfets, or 660A total for the CPU. It will be fine. At 1.2v that's almost 800W of power available. It will be fine.
What about the Elite?
Recently completed a Z590 build using a 10900k. Mobo is Gigabyte Aorus Ultra. Its on-board audio comes up as "Realtek USB Audio Driver". USB for on-board audio? Is that common now? And there is a delay with it that audio...had to end up using an $8 USB Audio dongle to get audio that's actually synced up with video. Very frustrating.
Man the times when you could build a decent PC for 500$ - gaming one is so over... Nowdays least expensive current gen gpu is 500$ ... Where the heck is this world going ?
Yes I love safe boot so much. Very handy.
do high-end gigabyte boards have fan step-up/smoothing features? the B550 PRO, B450, and X470 GAMING I worked with all lacked this feature and I'd find it to be a dealbreaker in my own personal system
so these will work with 11th gen cpus out the box without a bios update required? specifically the Z590 AORUS ELITE
I'm using a10850k in a z590 aorus master. I know I can't use the first m.2 slot, but which is the better ?the second or the third for the m.2,? which of the two will give me the most performance out of the GPU ? It doesn't say exactly what the second and third do in the manual that's why I'm asking? Thank you
To my knowledge it should be the same, I'd personally put it in the bottom m.2 slot due to cooling, as m.2 are really intended for "Computers with good airflow", especially the 4th gen ones. Idk I like to keep mine cool, cheers
Hello is z590 a good choice for i9 10850k this is the only one i found stock and at 200 dollars in.my country
gigglebite!!!!!!!! :D
Has anyone ever told you that you're a (1st world problems) life saver? I managed to get a 10900k for a good price, and I found myself going the rabbit hole looking for mobos. I was set on the Asus Z490 ROG Strix-E, but eventually decided not to risky with the Intel I225-V Ethernet controller. The second mobo that I had my eye on was the Gigabyte Z490 Auros Master, albeit it was too pricey to justify buying it.
But thanks to your "ramblings", I'm now almost 100% settled on the Gigabyte Z590 Ultra, it's at a relatively affordable price, and literally has everything the Z490 Master has to offer. Is there any reason to not get this for general use and a bit of overclocking on the 10900k? The Z590 Ultra really just blows the competition even compared to higher end Z490 boards for the price. If I wasn't going for the Z590 Ultra and tried to save a little, I could downgrade to the Gigabyte Z590 AUROS PRO AX or perhaps Asrock Z590 PG VELOCITA, but both of them feel just a bit lacking compared to the Z590 Ultra, whereas the Ultra feels like it gives the complete package.
P.S. If anyone has any suggestions for any other $300~ Z490/Z590 mobos please let me know! Ty so much
Kinda ridiculos, how many features companies press onto Z590 boards while pcie lanes are still kind of (very) limited compared. For Boards aroudn 500+ id rather wait for a HEDT solution for announced current platforms. eg threadripper on amd side instead of paying such high prices for a still gimped rocket lake.
p.s how good is linux support for aquantia atm?
Hey! So my GPU will be limited to PCIEX8 if have installed 2 NVMe right?
Should I return my Z490i Aorus by Gigabyte 8+1 for the Z590i Aorus 10+ 1 for the improved power delivery ? Thanks
what about Z590 D ?
Asus just put out their top x570 with 5 M.2s...sacrificing SATA and PCIe for no reason...ugh.
Anyone installed the App Centre and found it to be full of Trojans? I installed the Gigabyte App and MBAM found 28 of them! Disables Windows Update, then it sits running garbage in the background causing my i7-11700 to run about 15% load when doing nothing, CPU temps are 60-70C in this condition, Remove all Gigabyte SHITWARE and the CPU runs at 0.5% doing nothing and temps of 40C. The Z590 Master is about 300 quid where I am.
Was here.
So they bring back the x16 to x8 to x4 on b550 aorus master to intel too and i somehow dont really like that feature
Would anyone recommend the z590 aorus ultra to be paired with either a 10700k or 10850k? Or would it be a waste of money, 10th gen can't make use of the new features of the z590 motherboards?
pls review Gigabite gaming x z590z and Ashrock extreme4 z490
I just foiund a ASUS ROG Maximus XIII Apex (WiFi 6E) Z590 LGA 1200 for $170...
Yeah, it seems Gigabyte watch your videos. This is why the dual-BIOS implementation of the B550 Master looks like a major oversight.
Does the Aorus Pro AX and Vision G have the same VRM ?
I think i'm still going for the MSI Z490 GODLIKE. I think the Z490 GODLIKE does apparently have PCI-E 4 capable with the new CPU'S and PCI-E 4 M.2. But i just like the look of the GODLIKE aesthetically and functionally it has everything for me. And it loojs way better than any brands new Z590
Yeah I have that z490 godlike motherboard it's great, but I honestly don't give a dammn about PCIe4. I care about the feature sets and extreme OC potential. For you please just get the Ace or Unify or something similar(or norma tier lol if you don't OC) instead to save your mega moolah with your 11gen cpu
@@emini6 obviously godlike is what it is, has everything you need but unify is the last in the bottom tier to have a post code at least
@@sagerdood yeah I know, i got my godlike and 10900k used before on a good deal. I favour MSI but I still like Gigabyte than Asus is a little tough to recommend with their rog tax pricing still going.
But for OP all z590 should be fine with his PCIe4 problems if he wants to try some overclocking I would highly recommended the Aorus Ultra or maybe with extra moolah get the Master to be fancy without breaking the bank on the Xtreme or maybe the Pro(or Vision G) if OP wanna use those 4 M.2 slots and play around with the settings with that 6 layer pcb.
I personally know a guy who is really Gigabyte fan boy. Thankfully he already has a good computer based on X570 platform. I build his entire PC along with few modifications in past last year like new AIO, new case and more storage moved from HDD to M.2 SSD
40:00 NOOOOO DON'T TELL THEM TO NOT DO MONOBLOCKS JUST BECAUSE WATER COOLING THE VRMS DOESN'T MATTER! THEY LOOK SO COOL AND I WANT THEM TO BE CHEAPER PLSSSS
aorus ultra or strix e?
question, if you do not use onboard audio what do you use? dedicated soundcard?
54:30 Patched in latest bios update 24.06
Couldn't you add timestamps in the description?
Still using my 5 years old z170, want to upgrade to Z590 this year, then I look in $220 range the design are not good looking. I mean in that range Z490 look so good, look asrock Z490 extreme and z590 extreme, the 490 looks better.
Asus next
so dedicated tachyon videos got it
Gigabyte might as well just hire you at this point
So gigabyte finally got safe_boot analog
3 years of waiting and here is it
u need to start testing more low and midend boards tho buildzoid, theres not a lot of us that wanna spend 300+ USD if we can get a board with a GOOD enogh VRM for 199 or 249usd.
Normie here, can confirm I love M.2 SSDs
Are you South African? What is your accent? I can tell you definitely live in the UK
How many times does he gotta call these "low end boards" when they're straight unaffordable 😭
You skipped the best Z590M board: Gigabyte Z590M Gaming X. It will be out soon with 12 phase and SPDIF header. Truly the only good 11th Gen mATX board.
I prefer realtek lan over intel, so im very pleased these are in cheaper lineup
Buildzoid seems heavily influenced by some past internet posts about realtek lan issues. My experience is that the only concern I had was realtek support in freenas and it worked.

@User Oh well, I was trying to make a key features table in mine (I love tables).
Gigabyte consistently misses an opportunity by putting metal covers all over the top of the AORUS Extreme EXCEPT over the memory traces, where the extra shielding might actually make a slight difference! It's already got a killer backplate, so it doesn't need the rigidity, and the only place that the additional shielding a metal cover provides might possibly make even the slightest difference is the one place they don't put one.
And oh yeah, I can't wait to see the T***y** either when it comes out.
Does the Aorus Pro AX and Vision G have the same VRM ?
Love your work.
Edit when you get a chance though, you've listed the extreme at 18+1 not 20+1 :)
