Hey Leo. Wanted to let you know that my wife and I hooked up on 20+ fish each thanks to this video. I got my minnows and tiny jig heads then re-watched this video last night. Got out to the lake this evening and tore it up. Can't believe how much the fish love this bait. We tried all 3 of the techniques mentioned and caught fish each time. Just so much fun nailing those small fish on ultra light tackle. Thanks for all the tips and tricks man! They are working great on Lake Cumberland, KY.
Boom!
Funny story, last week I was fishing at the tidal basin at one of my favorite spots for bass and white perch. I found a 1" gulp minnow. A few days later, I watched your video and realized that I found it in the same spot where you were fishing a 1"gulp minnow, and on the same day that you were fishing the tidal basin. I went out and loaded up on gulp minnows after that.
Thanks Leo
He'll do, he didn't talk fast. Just spoke slowly & clearly Good job young fella
ive decided id watch you for good luck of my sickness lymes disease and ive been clearing up. so thanks leo!
I hope you get well soon and get back to fishing, Dylan! Tight lines and thanks for watching!
Very well done !! Nice presentation and really informative especially for small children I’m gonna show this to my kids
I hook these on a regular hook and cast them out and leave them sit and for some reason I have great luck. I think I told you or another Bigtime fishing youtuber that I've had luck doing that.
Caught a massive 11 inch gill with the 2-1/2 inch minnow. But I believe I already told you also. The gulp is GREAT stuff. You're the man Leo. Funny, this is also my favorite bait for multi species fishing. I also use the fish fry. Both of those are my go to. Which reminds me, I'm running low. Sadly I broke my ultralight rod the other day :/ now I'm using a light action ugly stick which, I don't like as much. I think il pick up the rod you featured here. I broke my reel too. They both got ran over (my stupidity). I've been running mono but I'm going to buy some fluorocarbon I and try that too.I'm still amazed I have so much luck without a jig head. Keep in mind, I'm not fishing in a stocked pond, but rather a pressured lake. I made 3 (real bait) guys convert to gulp. Love ultra lights!
All you fishing channels inspired me to fish
Thanks for the Video, I watched it the other day and decided to try the Gulp Minnow. I put one on a Trout Magnet jig hook on 4lb line on an ultra light rod. I went to a lake to try and catch yellow perch and I ended up catching a 28.5" 7lb 2oz Northern Pike.
It was my first ever Pike and took me 20 minutes to Land it.
Thanks again for the recommendation!
Thank you so much for all the great tips Leo. Keep fishing bro.
I would love to see more videos of fishing in a river, a medium size river. Because theres no creek nearby where I live, only the main big river, and sometimes I dont know how to approach fish in that scenario. Creeks are more noob friendly I suppose ;)
Thanks for your awesome content.
Greetings from Chile.
"a smmoll lerge mouf bayss" haha youre awesome, and you sound like a tour guide

tour guide.. from a boach..
Your tutorials are fantastic, thanks Leo!
I use the gulp minnow in the spring when the crappie spawn and I don't use any weight. What I do is stick a small hook through the head of the gulp and throw it out and it slowly suspends and I'll jerk it twice and then let it sink back down. Killer for crappie and perch
Sean - No weight at all? Not even one of those tiny "B" ones? I ask because my Crappie fishing is at a local (good-sized) farm pond, and I need to get to the depth where the Crappies are. To date, I've been using a 1/64 oz jig, tipped with a maggot or piece of crawler, with a float/bobber 2-3 feet up. I catch Crappies with that rig, but your post is making me re-think my method. I may have to try your set-up this Spring. Let me know if you have any other tips, and thank you for the above post!
I do same thing but use a splitshot or two and my already used (beat up by walleye/sauger) 3" gulp minnows on a gold "J" crappie hook. Pretty much only catch bigger crappie using 3" though and I miss a lot of small fish. For bluegill, I cut the old 3" minnow in half(maybe less) and use fluke end of gulp minnow under a bobber on a #10 hook or a 1/64oz jighead.
I keep 2 mason jars with gulp juice, 1 with brand new minnows and doubletail grub minnows and the other with used ones. The gulp pint jars suck and leak.
Sean Simpson same
I use a small mason jar to put all my Gulp products in because it doesn’t leak at all and you can mix many plastics in too
It's the best! It's the number one lure for pan fishing! I catch big crappies with it. Always work
Great video and always great knowledge, your videos are the best by far, especially for shore fisherman. It can really be tough on land but you always make it look effortless. Love to see how you work the lures and the rod. More techniques please. Thanks, Cue (Q).
Ive been casting my own jigs and really want to fish a straight jig in the water with no other rigging, can't wait to try these
Professor Leo , great tutorial as always you never disappoint with your teachings...this technique has saved me from many skunks LOL...btw I also used the Gulp 2.5inch minnows with great success...hope all is well Leo 👍🏻
Haha. Good stuff, Vinny! I am glad to hear! Tight lines and thanks for watching!
I bought the 4 inch minnows a while ago and the first time I tried them I didn't have any luck so I left it along for a while. but then I decided to give it another try and i absolutely love it now.
Glad to hear, Gerardo Perez-Sutton! And thanks for sharing! :) Tight lines and thanks for watching!
I agree that the Gulp Minnows are very versatile and great stand-by. I use them b/c I've seen you them in previous videos. Glad to see you reinforce techniques that I discovered and used on my own. Great video.
best multi fishing channel
Thank you very much, boss money! Tight lines and thanks for watching!
Still love this video 7 years later
Love your accent and how your pronounce certain words.Great videos, i lived in Gloucester City, NJ for a while and there are two nice ponds to fish there. The one is called Martins lake and its pretty open with a fountain in the middle, he second pond is right around the block and it has a variety of vegetation and hiding spots. Check them out some time. The bridge from philly drops right into Gloucester City hard to miss.
i just went camping fishing at 1 my favorite state parks and tryed these gulp minnows and i am a true believer in these gulp alive minnow and you are right these are like 1 the best berkly gulp alive fake baits. caught over hundreds of big huge bluegill or brim
caught some catfish too on gulp minnow
I have the exact same reel as you and my God I have to say if it wasn't for your video I would never have known what I had and mine broke I have wanted another one for so long but now I know what to look for thank you so much
Thanks Leo... caught 18 fish in about 90 minutes at Neshaminy Creek with this bait... bought an ultra light rod for about $24 - can't wait to get out there again.
finally Leo, very very glad to see you using that ultralight setup... please make more video and go fishing to catch bigger fish with that setup. i guarantee you it will be more fun.

Superb video Leo. Keep doing more instructional videos in the future.
I bought the minnows from Field & Stream today because of this video. I usually use live minnows with Dutys Minnow Rigs - I recommend buying some. Anyway, I hit the creek tonight in Central, PA (which still needs a dry day as the water was swift) with a 2.5" minnow and 1/32 jig head which is the smallest I could find. I had a couple trout hit but no hook ups. I switched to the 1" and I was working another trout but the chubs kept hammering the minnow. I went to another hole and I switched back to the 2.5". Again I got a nice hit but I must have been slow at setting the hook. The minnow rigs I use have treble hooks at the rear of the minnow and I land almost every trout. My buddy joined me and we went to a huge boyscout lake. I was hoping I didn't land a 14" largemouth on my trout rod but I wanted to test the minnow. No bass wanted to play tonight but I caught some of the biggest sunfish in my life and a 11" yellow perch which I rarely fish for so I was excited. So, the trout hit the 1" and 2.5", Sunfish loved the 2.5" and so did the Perch. While I didn't catch what I went for I agree these minnows are amazing and extremely attractive to a variety of fish. I still prefer live minnows but I have absolutely no complaints about the gulps. I will keep them in my car to use at lunch time or on the way home when I don't have minnows. They do kind of last longer than live minnows but I still used 4 tonight. 2 got shredded by fish I landed, 1 was pulled off by a trout and 1 must have got hung up on a rock and tore.
I recommend getting both 1" and 2.5". The big jar for the 2.5" leaks so be careful. Dump all minnows in the big jar and use the little jar from the 1" minnows to carry a few of each size minnow with some scented juice in the bottle and you'll be good to go.
I'm going to put the Gulps on a minnow rig next time and I bet I land those trout who were only interested in hitting the tail of the minnow.
That's funny. Yesterday, I was jigging a one inch gulp minnow for Crappie and ended up catching a 5.02 pound large mouth. It was totally unexpected and one of my favorite fishing moments ever!
Great content thanks im glad i found it, i live in monmouth County NJ so its even more relatable. God bless and tight lines
His accent is a breathe of fresh air compared to the whiny millennial voices usually behind these vids lol
SlumericanDream *cough* peric *cough*
My wife says he sounds like Borat.
Most vlogger you tubers
From the U.S. sound really...uhhhmm ..let me refrase that .. are trying to sound and come across really 'hip' & 'cool' in their own minds.
It's really flat.
Same goes for most well known you tube fishermen.
It turns me off big time!
This guy here.. tip top!!
Watch richard gene the fishing machine, not 1 hint of millennial
@@tuckrex2038 I dig him a lot too
caught a 5.11 largemouth bass on a gulp minnow crappie fishing I love them
Nice great job sometimes it's fun just catching any size, will give a try I use gulp on the Gulf Coast for spotted trout, flounder and red snapper
Great video. Gotta try these some time.
Glad that you enjoyed it, Realistic Fishing! Tight lines and thanks for watching!
Leo back at it again with the AMAZING VIDEOS! I love to use the Berkley gulp minnows too! Everything bites it!
Thank you very much, Josh! Always glad to see your positive comments here. :) Tight lines and thanks for watching!
I like a 6' - 6'1/2 foot rod for ultra light...helps get a little more casting range or jigging area when you're using such a light lure/bait.
Awesome video, Leo. Your channel size has almost doubled in two months, you deserve it 😀
oh, and one time I spilt a bottle of the berkley juice on a backpack, stinky!
Thank you very much, Danny. I am glad that you enjoyed it! I am surprised with the growth of the Channel as well. :) Tight lines and thanks for watching!

I was very impressed that he knew idubbbz
Lachlan Thistlethwaite Jon b has idubz in his liked videos
I just moved to Austin from Florida. I love the fishing here!
The fishing in Florida is truly phenomenal! Lucky man, Florida Huntsman!
I love the fishing in Texas for sure.
They really are great, even the larger sizes. Bought quite a bit back this winter when they had them marked down dirt cheap for a year end clear out type thing through Berkley's website. Free shipping after $25 and about 75% off so racked up lol.
I like the new intro to your videos I was very surprised when I was watching one of your videos.
Great educational video. I really benefitted from this Leo
Thank you very much, Joes! I am glad to hear that. Tight lines and thanks for watching!
just started watching your Chanel today, you have gained a subscriber. love the videos, keep it up.
Love the consistent uploads
Western pa fisher here, really enjoy the vids.
I use a zebco slingshot with that lure (started to use the lure because of u Leo thanks for the advice)
cool, im definitely buying some of those. I'll probably catch more weeds than fish though because where i fish is super weedy.
In super weedy places, the key technique is to vertical jig around the open holes in the week. You would be surprised, visualkeirockstar -- even the smallest crack on the weeds can give you a nice fish from under it! :) Never be afraid to put your stuff in small holes. Tight lines and thanks for watching!
Totally agree about the trashy containers, product is pretty nice though
I also enjoy the gulp products. I like the gulp worm. Also Awesome video.
Good stuff, Hopsky's Lounge! Gulp! is certainly a keeper. Haha. Tight lines and thanks for watching!

I hope it works for you, FLuffle! Tight lines and thanks for watching!
Lol, love when you pronounce words with an i in them. I have a feeling that you watch alot wise guy movies. Happy fishiiiing
This guy knows his fish.
I just buy this can’t wait to use it
Very cool video ! Keep up the amazing videos . Maybe one day you will be famous.
I love your accent awesome video explanation of this versatile bait
Killed the bluegill and baby small mouth with that rig under a rocket bobber set up as slip to 18". Small but lots of fun. Love thise little minnows, the fish do too.
the gulp minnow reminds me of plastic baits called "finness" that i still use for fluke and weakfish but lil longer size. but they have no scent just the action that you gave it .
You can bay spray or spritz or dip scent, and it works very well.
Great Video i've been trying to find out what i've been doing wrong when it comes to jig fishing thanks to ur vid i know. thanks to all the other vids out there that steered me wrong they were telling me to use 15lb fluorocarbon and 20lb braid that was there specs for fishing in the UK where i'm from so i was like ok must be right. lmao glad i found ur vid coz i was just about to give up on jig fishing thanks again.
Is this technique good for all seasons seems to have worked good for you so!
Definitely, Dean! The Gulp! Alive Minnow is a winner. Tight lines and thanks for watching!
Extreme Philly Fishing Thank you for reply I appreciate the communication you have with your subs!
Can you make another video about how to fish a 2in or 3in Berkeley gulp minnow
Great video and great bait your using. I started multi species fishing at a local lake and it was fun. Can you do a video on drop shot or worm fishing. Thx and have a good one
Awesome video Leo, That bluegill at 21:02 had a red bubble on its fin hope it is okay. I have noticed that with some of the bluegill I catch as well.
yes its good info for new fisher mans who wants to start ultra light fishing , i live in europe and for now im using xul-light class fishing rod , i like the bait that you are using and i using that bait too , and it works for some species , and if you read this comment you cant try some baits from lucky john they are doing grate small baits and it should works for you to :) and yes i love your really good multi species fishing video
thanks for making this video ive been trying to use the minnows
No problem, Ant Mats! I hope you catch some fish on it! Tight lines and thanks for watching!
IFYKYK ❤ glad I found your channel good job UA-cam algorithm 😮
I believe they make the jar leaky on purpose, so that when all the liquid leaks out, the bait dries out, and you have to buy a new jar.
Leo, if you dont mind doing a How to: fish beach piers. in los angeles there isnt many good fishing ponds or lakes. that would be greatly appreciated.
Yes Leo! You did it bro! You became One with the Geese haha.First video I've seen where you didn't give them too much crap! I always wonder how your going to react to them. Awesome video btw. Thank you
Best ultra light rod is cabelas fish eagle witch is only $50 and it feels like an expensive rod im just amazed at how good it is

Extreme Philly Fishing lmao this is definitely a bot
nice video. I always have gulp minnows in my fishing bag. never tried the 1 inc tho
Hi, Leo, Jim here. Great instructional video! I have some of these and will feel a lot more confident using them thanks to you. I wonder.........Considering our conversation yesterday (4/6/17) about fishing the Trout Magnet and your using 2 pound test.........This video above is 8 months earlier...and you're using 4 pound test. So - Question: If you were making this video here - today - 2017 - Would you use 2 pound test with one of those Berkley Gulp Alive Minnows?
Awesome video Leo
With suspended you should try using a slip bobber. This way you can change the depth quickly.
Love the Channel! Have you heard of the Goliath Pen Fishing Rod? It looks super fun, I just purchased one myself. I would like to see you use it in different ponds all across your area to really see the versatility of the rod and reel. Keep up the great work, peace & Love
ET
great video, and English is getting really good
I so totally 💖 & enjoy using the Berkley gulp alive 1 inch minnows + also my favorite color to use is chartreuse shad & when I use these 1 inch minnows. I also use them with a small trout magnet Shad Dart. The reason why I used the Shad Dart with these instead of a small little round jig head is this like totally I'm being serious here. When I use these Berkley gulp alive 1 inch minnows on the little trout magnet Shad Dart.I have a better reaction with the Shad Dart then around jig head. A lot of fish go nuts with these. It's like a Feeding Frenzy. The Berkley gulp alive 1 inch minnows are 97% more effective than anything that I had ever used before. The one downside I do not like using these Berkley gulp alive 1 inch minnows. after a while when you keep catching fish with them the rubber keeps on breaking. But still it's worth using these Berkley gulp alive 1 inch minnows.
Love your videos man!!
When you talked about the jar leaking, I had to pause the video and go check my Gulp! Waxies lol All tight!
What do you do to keep it from leaking? I put my bottle in a plastic bag and when I went fishing I could see a little had leaked into the bag.
Keep the lid free from dirt, make sure it's screwed down tight and not cross-threaded. I also leave most of the foam safety seal thing in place, I peel it back just far enough to get a pair of forceps/tweezers in there to grab the baits. Keeping it in a bag is a good extra level of protection. The little jars aren't too bad, the 11oz Gulp! tubs are a disaster waiting to happen lol
Matt Riddell Thanks. I guess I need to tighten the lid more. I kept the stuff in the top and even the sealing paper around the rim.
🙋 check it when I use these 1 inch Berkley gulp alive minnows I use them on a small Shad Dart. Cast them out & slightly twitch, bounce, or even jerk them off the bottom. & they work fantastically amazingly awesome. The color I use most when it comes to the Berkley gulp alive 1 inch minnows is chartreuse Shad. For some reason the trout goes nuts over this color & it's like a Feeding Frenzy. Also it's like the trout never ate before but they attack them. When the person or the persons using these and if they using the correct way they will catch a lot of big rainbow and brownies. I have to stock up on them being serious. Sometimes when I use these the trout hit them so much that they actually rip the rubber once in awhile. But anyway I prefer using Berkley gulp alive 1 inch minnows than anything that's out there today.
last time i was this early leo was bass fishing
Hey EPF! I love your videos your videos are what got me into fishing! Well, I want to fish when I have enough money for a rod and reel. Speaking of rod and reels what would you recommend for Midwest fishing? I was thinking a bait caster but I like the spin casters a lot because they're easy and I know you like them too. Anyways thanks again for your videos! New species and tight lines! 🎣
Do more videos like this showing us tips and fishing
I appreciate the feedback, Ethan! Tight lines and thanks for watching!
there is actually 44 in one jar
love what your! doing keep up the good work !!
do you ever use trout magnets?
Thanks, brother. Tight lines!
Can you show us how to use your favorite or second hard bait for any thing. I am guessing it's a inline spinner
