I used to live in the XV back in the 80s. The Café du Commerce was part of the Bouillon Chartier chain then and was open to the public at incredibly cheap prices. Now more upmarket but still my favourite restaurant in Paris. Just a detail - Georges Brassens was more of a popular singer than a poet, around the same time as Jacques Brel. Nice trip down memory lane!
You two are so charming! Love these vignettes around Paris. The 15th arr. is just a dream to live in! It is the Paris of Parisians. Food, parks, dynamic and interesting landscapes, and very different feel from quarter to quarter. The heart is Vaugirard (metro) near the City Hall. It’s absolutely brilliant! Between Lines 6,12, and 8 you can just about get anywhere in Paris in 30 minutes. I do agree, not for a first time visitors, although they do have some wonderful hotels with Eiffel Towel views (really you can see the the Eiffel Tower from just about every street in the 15th). But if you want to get a taste of old world Paris, there is no better place. It’s also the safest and cleanest part of the City! Cheers on a lovely video.
I’m coming to Paris in a couple of weeks and the île au cygne is a perfect tip. Think I might stay in the 15th on another future trip. Totally non tourist what I like. Might see if I can squeeze in the bar on the Tour Montparnasse. Thanks guys !
I've just caught up on the first 6 videos. They're great! (It's amazing that Paris has such beautiful weather all the time. Haha.). We've walked a lot of Paris, and yet there's always more new stuff to see. Can't wait to be back!
One question, do you think it is safe to stand in the bicycle lane in Paris? Thanks for your videos this gives a different view of the 20 arrondissements than i saw from two other UA-camrs. I will certainly check out the restaurant
Great Video ! Just New to your channel.. Most videos on Paris is about 10 percent content and 90 percent self promotion about the creator, really nice to see some substance in a video, and letting Paris be the star.. Make longer ones please !!
Awesome thank you! Would love to make longer ones, help me make the channel grow and I'll do it. Otherwise, we put out a 30 min podcast every week, and have done for 5 years, so there is a LOT of content out there if you like Paris (and I'd say it's mostly about Paris and not about me :) )
I love your series but I think you missed out a a lot about the 15th. It's probably because it's such a huge arrondissement, there are almost different segments of the 15th. I do love the gorgeous dining segments around Vaugirard, Commerce etc. and one of the best creperies in Paris, and so much more.
Les Merveilleux de Fred is actually a chain from the north of France, there are a few shops worldwide, you should definitely try their specialty, it’s like biting into a cloud 😋
I love how Paris is full of pocket parks. I think I read the Emperor Louis Napoleon got the idea from a visit to London and seeing all the tiny city churchyards as oasis of green which they are today and many are now little gardens. I'm hoping a new administration in France will drop the vax jabs need then maybe I could visit and get to see all things I missed out the first time, and I saw loads then, but there is SO MUCH.
Hi Hilda :) Well, 15 min videos would be three times the time, the work, and the budget. I'm amazed we're managing so much, not least considering there is much more content on the website and the podcast each week. As for Patreon, I understand that that not everyone can afford it, that's why I put 95 percent of The Earful Tower out for free :) For those who can afford it, they get extra bonuses and make the 95 percent possible for everyone else :)
I studied in Paris in spring 93 and my host mother’s apt was in the 15th so I was anxiously awaiting this podcast and video. Love it! Great job!
We stayed in the 15th on our very first trip to Paris and it was amazing!! We were so close to everything! Can't wait to go back!!
Another great one! Thanks, guys! Salute from astonishingly grey, cold & weirdly back to normal Ireland! ☘💪🏽👀👍🏽☘
First comment, woo! Hope the weather improves for you soon :)

People in the 15th like to say that the Eiffel Tower has 2 feet in the 7th and 2 in the 15th 😊
In Rue st. Charles ( think no. 50) you can buy the BEST Cakes in the entire world, " Incroyable" and "Merveilleux" !!!👍😘
Merci!!!🤗😽

Videos are too short. Why not 15 min long. Not everyone can afford to be patreon.
