I'll remember "no austerity" when we pay more for energy and lose our winter fuel allowance. You can't invest in public services to achieve growth by adhering to tax and spend. Total word salad...waiting for the budget.

Not sure if I'm following you correctly here. Where is growth going to come from if government spending is cut? If you cut government spending you cut private sector earnings since that's where public services, workers and those in receipt of pensions, benefits etc spend their money. Yeah?
If the argument is public spending "crowds out" private investment then that's clearly a lie as we've had 14 years of that fairytale and it's failed even on its own terms

No-one made a fuss when the previous government stopped many of the most seriously disabled people didn't get their winter fuel payment last year! And that was only half of what pensioners get! It was so little discussed that even the power companies didn't know about it!

The Socialist model is based on taxation or borrowing used to kickstart public work programs. The private sector is normally crowded out as a result of this government intervention.

@syedadeelhussain2691 it won't work. Taxation only works so long as you don't drive big business away, and the companies big enough to raise the required revenue are big enough to just leave. Borrowing only works if the market believes that you're competent with money and Labour has a track record of being reckless with public money and has already shown it's not competent with unaffordable pay rises to unionised public sector workers at the expense of pensioners and private sector workers.

I would like to know what Reeves definition of austerity is. If taking £200 off any pensioner earning more than £11,962.60 is not austerity I don’t know what is.

Hey Rach.. do you not think Brexit is an important factor for *why* investment isn't happening? Why would I invest in the UK if my product cannot be sold (without restrictions) into the world's largest single market, and not invest somewhere within the EU?
You know what... If they were a bit more democratic. They elected the commission rather than appointed it. They had a bit more of a citizen centric constitution more like the US. They dropped the Euro and went back to the more flexible local currencies of old... Id probably agree.
