  • Do you run the Air Raid Mesh Concept out of 3 x 1 formation? Because if you don't then you need to....
    ...AND you need to run it the Lincoln Riley way.
    Why?
    Because someone will ALWAYS be open if you run the Air Raid Mesh Concept this way.

    Im qb coach , and a lot of coaches get hitch and climb messed up, you hitch to reset yourself not to lose depth, you climb to avoid rush

    What do you think about this exact scheme in 2 X 2? All the routes stay the same: L and Y Mesh; H run Dig; R runs the post? Same reads no new learning

  • @robertmosher7418
    @robertmosher7418 5 років тому +1

    The back two middle pylons mark the hashes. So wouldn't you be adjusting the route angle by your receivers alignment and your location on the field?
    If you have him try to read the entire play his timing will be off and limit his ability to play and throw with anticipation. You have two routes breaking in they field at 7 steps, and two crossing shallow four yards directly in front of the qb and unless the D is in man they could be running directly into the coverage of the Will or Mike.
    If you read high to low (hi low on the Bandit) then you have a read Key and that's a simple read. QBs eyes go right to the Bandit and either throw the 12 yd post or 10 yd dig. If Mike or Sam buzz underneath the dig it becomes a window drill in which the QB and receiver read the open grass the underneath defender is isn't occupying and the receiver either settles early or runs to grass.
    If you read the cross late and it turns out it's cover two then it's a pic six. The mesh is primarily run to hold the coverage backers from buzzing under the dig by forcing both the Mike and Will to stonewall the in breaking route because in high school route cancellation is legal. Sam you don't have to worry about because he is the SCF player in zone and he should be trying to reroute the number two and look for number one to break in on an in or curl then his eyes go to the flats.
    If you want the QB to read the whole concept at one time because of the QBs evaluation matrix (decisions, timing and accuracy) teach him to remain a passer and buzz his feet to maintain his rythmn as he reads his progression and to keep his cleats in the grass as he hitches to maintain the timing.

      @Robert Mosher: The QB is not reading the entire play. What coach was talking about, was the QB reading the mesh as one read rather than reading each masher sequentially...This comes from Hal Mumme, who taught the QB to look down the middle of the mesh, and watch with their peripheral vision to see who comes open. This takes practice obviously, and also the coaches being persistent in making the QBs do this.
      When you say the mesh is meant to keep the coverage off the dig, do you mean this specific version of mesh, that came from Lincoln Riley, or just mesh in general in the context of the air raid? If it's the latter, don't know if the air raid's original 3x1 mesh had a dig...
      I know Mckie wants to keep it simple, but in addition to dagger and switch, which have been discussed on the channel before, I also like the idea of attaching corner/curl read to the 3wr side, have the back run to the flat for the flat route you need for the corner/curl read, and have #2 run a read post/dig to help control the deep coverage and keep them off #1's route. #2 runs a post if it's MOFO, #2 runs a dig if it's MOFC.

      @@PhillyEaglesFanatic nope. Not me. I have just begun trying to learn from my peers by commenting and hoping for some constructive criticism and hints on how they do things so I can get better. I don't think I am a great coach yet, but hope to be one some day. If you think my logic is faulty and I am approaching things in a way you would not, it would be great if you could share your knowledge. If not, I will accept you as a troll and just spend time on those choosing to help other coaches and not just try to make other coaches look stupid.
      If my comments are coming across like I think I am superior to anyone, it's because I have lost my glasses and I am squinting and probably won't be writing the correct punctuation and wording. Hopefully the replacement bifocal will be in soon.

      @@artimus142 Actually, Mumme told Coach McKie when coach McKie asked him about this, that 6 yards or under is fine. As long as the deeper mesher of the two meshers isn't deeper than 6 yards, and the two meshers can slap hands (at least when they are learning it, if not also in games), then you are good.
