Thanks for all the kind comments. It was a special sighting with no other vehicles around, we had this little guy all to ourselves! The lioness who joined the mom and cub is the cubs older sister. We also wished he had a sibling from his litter to play with. All the licking reduces parasites on the cub and of course is part of the bonding between mother and cub.
I wonder if the little guy had any siblings and if he did what happened to them... I am happy for this cub and hope he survives and thrives. He definitely has undivided attention and love from his mom. Aunt is nasty though
It’s the cubs big sis. Probably hasn’t had cubs yet so there’s no maternal instinct yet. Older siblings can get rough but luckily mama is very protective.
In Prides, grooming is a sign of affection and how they bond. Cubs also feed from other lionesses in the pride, not just their mother as another way the to bond.
Cats (of any species) have a tongue that is like a brush or sandpaper (they use it to clean fur and to remove meat from prey bones) in the same way they clean each other. (this of cleaning each other more specifically in reference to the lions, since they are the only social cat on the planet, we could define them as an anomaly in this side) even if a mother cat will clean her little one in the same way as a lioness .... A lion could hurt a man only by licking him over and over again in the same spot (see how abrasive their tongue is) if you have been licked by a cat you will understand what I mean .... (enlarge a cat's tongue 50 times and you will have the effect of a lion's tongue)
Ps: we can't be sure that the one in the video is the mother, since lionesses all give birth approximately in the same period, they grow and breastfeed all puppies of their pride indiscriminately whatever their mothers are... (so a large community of mothers and aunts) this obviously has a huge advantage (just for example, as well as strengthening the puppies with different antibodies, if the mother is injured or dies the puppies will survive thanks to the aunts) I find this very interesting fact for help to understand these beautiful creatures (which is why I wanted to share it)
Wow, the cub is gorgeous and it is heartwarming to see Mum and baby bonding 🤩😍🥰🤗💜💙💞
It was a special sighting!
Little guy is enjoying all the love and attention.❤️
Que ternura y como posa para la cámara, bello bb de león.
ces lionnes sont vraiment des mères exceptionnelles avec leurs cubs !
Oui, ils sont!
My brain every time i see lions doing this : 'mum y're messing up my mane'
The cutest, little guy, huge paws!!!!! Good one .
warning: this video is cuteness overloaded
BEAUTIFUL AND FREE.
This is so sweet and cute. Such a tight bond between mother and baby cub. Great videon. I wonder where are the rest of the cubs.
I don't think mom had any others. If so, they didn't survive long.
@@lanceandmyacotesafricanadv4692 That is very sad. Thank you.
I love how the Cub being groomed looked at the camera as if to say, _"Do you mind? I'm trying to take a bath here!"_ 🤣🤣🤣🤣
TROP MAGNIFIQUE !! Mais tata n'est pas gentille avec moi !

as well ok
I always have a question about the fitness of lionesses. Why do they lick their puppies too much?
