Nah I think it has more to do with the HEV suit. Upon receiving a certain amount of damage it will say "Automatic medical systems engaged. Morphine adminestered."

I believe there are quotes that reference Gordon has "stopped taking his meds" which is definitely a reference to Freeman's mind - but the morphine shot is a reference to the HEV suit. The guard also says "I didn't think you'd crack soon.", what would cause Gordon to crack exactly? There's nothing else that would cause that - except the Resonance Cascade itself, which hasn't happened yet.

The guard is accusing Gordon of trying to pick a fight so that he can get a morphine shot from his suit when he gets punched, which is exactly something Ross Scott's Freeman would try to do.

For some reason I don't know, since I never actually cared, Valve gave his permission to work on their most famous IP and let them publish it on Steam, but still remained a fan made project, as far as I know Valve never gave them the original assets nor gave them additional support, help or resources, they started doing it from scratch and they ended the same way.
It being out of beta is mostly a PR thing what with HL:A coming out. Conveniently they finished xen like 4 months ago. Still a lot of bugs and shit that should be updated.
Without mentioning of course that now Valve conveniently has a quality remake of Half Life without spending a dime on it, of course. I mean, I played it and I found it really good for being a fanmade remake of a 22 years old game using a 15 years old engine, playing with the nostalgia factor.
Some more fun things about the scene with G-Man talking to the one scientist: If you have subtitles on, their conversation is subbed as different variations of the phrase "Hushed Whispering" If you stick around too long, they'll eventually notice and close the shutters
I love the new Kleiner-esque scientist voice. Because Kleiner is actually in the game now, they can't use his voice for the generic scientists so they use a slightly different one but one that still has all the HL Scientist energy
I think in that area you can hear a bunch of qoutes, the one you are referring to is when the zen crystal is inserted into the anti-mass spectrometer and one of the scientists says "Shut it down, shut it down now!"

About G-man : You forgot another place where G-man appears. In "Questionable Ethics" In the laboratory where the bullsquid and the "exterminator of intelligent creatures" are located, he stands in the window of the second floor. When you turn on the "exterminator", G-man leaves.
One of the more interesting parts of dialogue you can find is if you save the guard at where you find the hive hand before getting said weapon, when you grab it if you manage to have the guard see you put your hand inside the weapon he make some unique dialogue like if he finds a camera he wants you to do that again.

That random npc conversation system is so 90s. Most Quake II engine games had it, I remember Kingpin had it. It was funny bacause you could bring any random npcs close together and they started conversing by saying silly generic things intead of the focused dialogue modern games have. It's so good this remake respected that detail
Lovely additonnal detals they made, some related to the original game. I miss some deatels that HL1 had tuoh: -vortigunts flee if they seriously injured. -houndeye sleaping pack that is not presetted. -aliens eating from corpses, including yours. -seeing Xen fauna at the resonant cascade formin (none aggresive bullsquids), not only alienslaves/vortigunts groop chanting.
Imagine if you don't help the first scientist and then proceed with the game. Dying while waiting for toilet paper has to be one of the most undignified ways to go.
I remember on my first play through of black mesa in anomalous materials there was this scientist next to a bunch of chemical test tubes, and I picked it up and the scientist goes "watch out those are very dangerous" and so I try to put it down but accidentally throw it and the scientist goes something along the lines of "you know I spent a very long time making those chemicals" I love this game
