I still have to go and replace my unit too. I added like 5 new circuits for the kitchen and wired only half of them on top of existing circuits. Yes I have sockets in my kitchen that are unusable for a year now. The wires sweep across my wall without proper protection.
    You are not alone :)

The camera is neat! Would love to see some cable tray fabrication bends at new rig in the future. Keep up with the good work.

Good to see you doing Sparky content. I think your parents place is going to be a lot of work, probably more than the Loadout warehouse. Just in the garage there are a lot of JBs I bet there are many more hidden under the floor inside. You may even find some old VR cables as well. Good luck on the mission. Worth fitting an emergeny backup light above the board/CU in case of a power cut or tripped circuit. I know you will leave it looking great and be more than fit for purpose, as you do with all your installs. I look forward to this series of videos

Workshop area is looking well decent 👍. I think domestic installs now are almost heading into the territory of commercial installations. Boards like the one you have are ok where there is the room in a garage install, but that would be a headache of an install for boards located in a house. Totally agree with your description of using a leakage meter, the DCM305E is a good meter, actually a rebranded Appa Instrument, the auto backlight does annoy me though.

Many thanks for taking us on a tour of your parents wiring.
I’m looking forward to your thought process and the stages of bringing the C. U. up to the latest regulations and standards. Until then, take care, stay safe. 👍⚡️

There's no requirement for double-pole switching on TN systems, so there's probably no need for DP RCBO if you use PME facility with Open-PEN protection on the charger side. I believe TT installs for EV chargers are increasingly rare these days.

Not bothered about the camera it's the content and you that are engaging. I got our new regs book the other day and noticed the cover is more robust than the blue one and past ones. bit worried at first regarding not being able to run services through escape routes which are mainly corridors and thought that it would be a problem as most services run through main corridors then it was explained it was protected escape routes and what they were. As long as everyone is pricing from the same hymn sheet.

As you admit... some of that was well rough, C1 & scarper 😉.
And sorry dude but you've lost your catch phrase... Paul [Meenan] does it better especially with that cheeky little grin of his. "Wat's good guys" 🤣

  • @spikester

I presume one must clamp all 3 tails (L1/L2/N) when testing entire boards for leakage on north american residential single split-phase? Or one must measure 3 different points? L1/N L2/N L1/L2? EDIT: clamping L1/L2 would require one to take load off neutral, so testing 240V appliances only.

    1. Saw your review on the Velocity Stealth 500. Was gonna order from your site but went for the Velocity Rogue 9.0 instead which you didn't stock.

Pre-rcd UK board changes on UA-cam seem to run into them all the time.
Here (Netherlands) junction boxes are not allowed to have wires from multiple circuits in them, shared neutrals are not exactly *unknown* but they’re very rare.
