- In this second episode of Unfiltered, Oli Dugmore is joined by England legend, Gary Lineker.
The Match of The Day presenter sits down with Unfiltered's new host to discuss growing up, playing for England, his incident with the BBC and corruption at the highest level of football.
A world class striker, he won the golden boot at the 1986 World Cup. 80 caps for England.
Today, he is the longest serving - and most outspoken - Match of the Day presenter, the BBC’s best paid presenter, and Perhaps a bigger player in the media than he was on the pitch. He says “I was born to be in the box, I learnt how to be on the box, and I’ll end up in a box.”
Our guest today is Gary Lineker.

This interview is so refreshing. I have never, ever, ever been interested in football. It was too tribal for me. But listening to Gary and his centric persona and aims. Boy I’m I glad to trip over this video.
Honeymoon well spent Oli, congrats my man
Great interview, great topics and pacy:
Good stuff with a required amount of enlightenment. Fair play.
Great interview yet again Oli keep smashing it
Despite GL being the cause of so much misery as a kid (Leicester making the end of season truly miserable for my beloved Norwich City), it's always great to hear him speak in a "normal" situation.
He was always pretty much the "Mr Clean" of football, and now punditry. He's very fact driven, rather than using constant soundbites end hyperbole, which is refreshing when it comes to listening to practically anything these days. He seems like an all round good egg. For that reason and because it's the last thing he'd want to do, I'd be happy to see him much more involved in this country's politics.
Now, surely it's time for a quiet sit down with Mick Lynch?....😊
good interview
Fair play Gary never change a good lad
Great interview
Its always funny to me that a person is humble, transparent and very humble and gets hate regardless. I just don't get why people hate Lineker so much. I'm sure we don't agree on everything but it feels like I'd be able to disagree with him without the expected vitriol of the current standard of discorse.
They hate Lineker precisely BECAUSE he's transparent and very humble, along with showing basic compassion and humanity to the groups of people that the right wing media has convinced people to hate.
If anyone's ruined the lives of the poor, it's billionaires, not a family in a dinghy.
It'd take millions of immigrants to be half the drain on the UK that Johnson alone has managed.
I don't know anyone who hates lineker...
Young, old, football haters & lovers alike! 🤷🏻♀️
No one hates him. But he embodies a snowflake, virtue signalling, champagne, multi millionaire hypocritical lefty. He loves the BBC (lol, who wouldn't if they - through ordinary taxpayers - paid you millions to present the footie) and sets up a podcast with a notorious lefty who has the blood of more than a million people from the middle east on his hands and an ex-tory toff who is now left leaning. He has a moan up about the UK's refugee/immigration system but when he really had the chance to make a stand against a truly appalling regime at the world cup - he decided to take the money, help sportswash that country and further damage minorities/immigrants.
@@3373just oh they're out there, but only because he's a decent person n doesn't hate immigrants.
Sends them feral!
Envy causes resentment
Really like Gary Lineker. Having said that, he really needs to pick up a book and read about the experience of Jews in Germany in the 1930s. It would be logical to assume that he has already done that. However, judging from his tweet, I don't think he has.
Hi laika3916. I’m sincerely interested to hear where you think Gary got it wrong? Because I think his motives were good. I’m asking you because you have been kind in your comments.
@@kathrynphillips84 jews were trying to escape nazi Germany not trying to break in
Lineker is clearly very sound
Amazing Fact: Lineker never received a red or yellow card in his football career.
Another stat, he never scored at The Mecca Villa Park, something that really upsets him
UP THE VILLLAHHHHHHH
for the first time in my life, I never watched a minute of the World Cup. Until the corruption ends, I will not watch again.
but he happily accepted the paycheck from Qatar though didn't he lol
How? The BBC paid to have the rights to show the World Cup, he worked for the BBC. Qatar didn’t pay the BBC or him. He also used and continued to use his platform to speak up about curruption and HR issues in Qatar. Points that, in his world and with today’s audience, would lack substance had he not gone
Hope joe are paying roots manuva for the intro music
you guys need a post audio mixer, can't hear a word then the speakers nearly burst with laughing
🏆Great at your chosen professions, pay your tax & a decent person.
Wouldn't ask for more of anyone
someone needed a tissue
Hypocrites go to the lowest point of hell..
Hes in the top ten.. and its a long list
Immigrant security guards STILL in prison in Qatar over wages not paid to them😢
Your wife has met Gary Lineker, no freaking way

Legend Lineker
The Beeb can put Bojo on that dancing show and wash his reputation there and everyone can forget how many Nana's died during covid while he was avoiding meetings and holding parties and laugh at his floppy haired antics like they used to!
Didnt stop you going though did it Gary. Hypocrisy at it finest.
BBC do good at sport?? You are having a laugh
He's taking you for a fool if you pay your TV license.
🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂
TV licence is so far down the list of things to criticize. Its so cheap for what it sustains. Criticize the BBC for a lot but they have their place and its better than the US style of media.
Wowwwwwwww talk about missing the point. I have issues with the TV licence too but give your head a wobble
You missing GB news content?
Speaking of fools, you better avoid reflective surfaces at all costs!!! 🤡
Ah something not to listen to. Gary is a cast iron prlck.
Over paid hypocrite.
How? Seems like he is transparent and honest. You just don't like him because he has opinions you don't like.
@@thomasandrewclifford And you don't like my opinion 😂
Can you provide some justification for your opinion? Or are you just hating on footballers?
Never understood people who use a public forum to project an opinion and then get a cob on with anyone who questions it.
@@keef82 Are you referring to me.
Gary Lineker doesn't like twitter now because he can't just read an echo chamber of comments to his opinions..... who would have thought 🙈
Mate if you're also getting wound up about twitter in any way shape or form, you're an idiot. Twitter is for fucking squares and weirdos
he explained the issue quite clearly; if you don't understand plain English, maybe ask someone to help you understand the interview
Are you saying Twitter is less Partisan now that the CEO is banning reporters he doesnt like and retweeting conspiracy theories? Before they just kind of said "please don't be mean to people" and only stepped in when needed. I don't think its any less an echo chamber, just far more toxic and intentionally provocative.
@@thomasandrewclifford could not have said it any better myself 👏
@thomasandrewclifford have you read or seen any of the information from the twitter files on their monumental corruption and bias? They did more than just say "don't be mean". I person have never had or used twitter, but opening up the platform for free speech and having transparency seems like a leap in the right direction to me.
I laughed my arse off at the media and everyone turning on Linekar. He joined in with the media's character assassination and propaganda against Corbyn and helped the Tories in for more terms, yet complains about the very thing he allowed to continue. Now he has a taste of what Corbyn went through, except Linekar absolutely deserves it. Justice.
