Another great thing to do on the NCL Getaway is to meet great people! Which we did as soon as we got to the terminal ... meeting the crew of Byte Size Cruises was definitely a highlight of our trip!!! You guys rock!!! Jay & Eve
Good video. I’m going on this ship this coming spring so I’m really looking forward to some of your suggestions. This will be my second cruise ever so I’m super exited.
Just got off a 12 day Transatlantic on Getaway and some of your 10 are in my faves, too. My favorite show was Broadway Unplugged. I'm glad it was held in the Imaginarium and not the main stage because it was much more intimate. As you mentioned, it's the same cast as Million Dollar Quartet but, ironically, I enjoyed the Broadway show much more. As many cruise lines do, they managed to come up with different entertainment every night by repurposing the talent onboard and the best use of that was the Ocean Music Fest. They took some of the top artists and combined them into one group on the main stage for a 50 minute medley of hits. No breaks. It was fantastic. There was also a terrific ABBA tribute by the Jamaican pool deck band Zennhitt. I'm not an MDR fan but was pleasantly surprised by Tropicana and loved eating there. The Spice H2O parties were excellent, especially Glow, as you mentioned. RE: the others - unfortunately, the ropes course was closed for most of our cruise due to wind. Syd Norman's was always too crowded to get into. And I was very disappointed that NCL has done with late night snacks. In the Q&A the Captain said they just felt that not enough people were utilizing it so they have eliminated it across the line. The only option is O'Sheehan's.
Thanks for a bunch of great ideas. I am on this ship on Nov 28th. Could not believe how empty it was when you went! I hope it's that quiet after Thanksgiving. Keep up the videos, they are very informative. One of these days maybe we can get a cheesesteak place on one of these ships( I know the best right now is in O'Sheans)
How crowded is the ship at the pool, food, ordering drinks at the bar, trying to go to a show if at full capacity? Worried its going to be so congested.
Bar drinks are a breeze. Pool gets crowded midday but mostly right at the pool. The rest of the deck is fine. Shows are totally fine unless you get there late. Generally we go about 15-20 min pre show and it’s empty
Just got off Getaway this past Weds. Long lines at Restaurants. Buffets and Bars were fine. Have to make reservations for shows. Long lines getting off at Ports. Disembarkation was a disaster.
I think it depends on demographics. I just got off a 12 day Transatlantic which was more than full capacity since it was in June and many kids were out of school, yet it did not feel crowded at all. I never had a problem getting a chair on the pool deck all week. I also never had an issue finding a spot in the hot tubs. The pool was never crowded. There were no long lines at the buffet, it was easy to find a table, and the shows were never so full that I couldn't get a good seat. Embarkation and disembarkation was a breeze and port stops were a snap, too. It felt like the ship was half empty.
@@irinamanasherova3896 it does not unfortunately. There are hot tubs but the pools are not heated. Some ships have solariums or indoor pools but Getaway does not. There is a spa thermal suite which has an indoor warm pool but that is an additional cost
I’ve only been on one NCL ship, and that was the Encore just a few months ago. I saw that it had the boardwalk dining, and thought it was a very nice touch. I’m not sure if the Encore is in the Breakaway class of ships, but I thought it was one of the best ships I’ve been on. The Encore has a 2-story go cart race track, which was exhilarating. I really love how NCL designs their ships, and as such I think they really did a nice job setting themselves apart from the other cruise lines. Food in the MDR was *not good* , I have to say, but everywhere else it was fantastic.
@@ByteSizeCruises another thing I love about the Encore is that it has an entire enclave of solo cabins, as well as a neighborhood lounge that’s JUST for solos.
We’re going in november! What I am curious about is what is actually included in all-inclusive? I am watching à LOT of videos here on youtube and there are lot of telling what is not included - no caffelatte, no fizzydrinks, no water(really?). The travel agenda is not very helpful either in this matter. Can someone help me out here, please?
I stayed in a studio cabin. It’s great. The studio lounge is nice. You meet great people. I love cruising solo. I do it a lot and I’m introverted. People are great. Don’t worry
Thanks for the tips. Going on the Getaway for the first time Nov 10th, out of New Orleans. Looks like a great ship.

Glad you enjoyed it. Sucks about late night snacks. That was one of my favorites.
@@ByteSizeCruises Mine too. Even the "secret" casino buffet is gone. We went there after midnight every night and they only put out cookies.

Are the shows you mentioned all in the main theatre?
Most are. Noise boys is in the illusionarium as is the broadway unplugged

Thx so much
Does the cruise get heated since its cold? Pools and decks? I hope
