    I own 7 Angle Grinders and want more, and for the exact reason you bought another one, I got one for wire, one for 60, 80, 120, one for Cutoff wheel, I also have a cordless, and I just picked up the Dewalt Mini Cutoff wheel. I think I'm a grinder addict, lol. I show them on my channel also, maybe I'll buy another Dewalt and do a Review. I like the new Allen Wrench heads, but. I dont like the paddle switches, I like the on/off button. Nice video....

      Have you seen the Metabo flat head grinders? They are really nice. Might end up being my next grinder.

    Thanks for taking the time to review this. We run mulchers and have to sharpen teeth daily with cubitron disks. Theres very little usable info out there on products like this one. We went ahead and bought the 402. Real world testing is helpful. 👍

    I own this angle grinder, but am just an occasional user. Need a refresher when I do need to use one. This is an excellent video! You cover all the bases and your final thoughts make sense.

    Thanks for the video. This is my first angle grinder, so needed a bit of help to understand my new tool. The instructions weren’t hugely helpful. All the best.

    I'm new to using a grinder. My biggest fear is having the wheel shatter. I've watched lots of videos. I was afraid that I was doing something wrong because the wrench seems sort of useless for the DWE402. I just tightened it with my hand like you did. And I assumed I must have been doing something wrong until I watched your video and you did the same thing.

    • @steelforestweldingandforge
      @steelforestweldingandforge  2 роки тому +1

      Glad I could help set you at ease. Be sure you always have your guard on your grinder properly set, use the correct size wheels for your grinder, and discard your wheels when they become worn down. Following those precautions will most likely prevent an accident. I can count on one hand in 25+ years how many times I've seen a wheel fly apart, and it was almost always due to someone being negligent.

    Good video. I'm looking into starting to make knives by stock removal. Grinding down a bar of steel to shape. Would you recommend the 7 or 11 amp for that? Looks like I will like your channel with the forging stuff too 👍

      I'm also looking at a Makita brand 7.5 amp grinder. Comes with wheels

      When it comes to rapid material removal the more power the faster the material removal. You also might want to look into getting a belt sander you'll have a lot more control than with a grinder

      I am sure that you know this, but the more heat that you generate during stock removal, the more likely that you are to destroy the temper of the steel.

    one thing i noticed you didnt mention is there is a little button on the left hand side if you press and hold after engaging the paddle switch said button will lock the grinder to stay on and will turn off once the paddle switch is given pressure so that may reduce the fatigue you mentioned. I havent tried it yet but I imagine thats what the button is for

    I have the same grinder and it's very well built internally. If you dont like the position of the switch , unscrew the head and rotate to your liking.

    For safety and warranty, what combination of (bottom spacer or locking nut) is used when putting on a "Double Row Diamond Cut Wheel"(DW4774) on a DWE402? Is locking nut required since wheel screws on already?

    • @steelforestweldingandforge
      @steelforestweldingandforge  3 роки тому

      I have personally never used a diamond cutting wheel before. From the videos I've watched it looks like they are installed the same way a cut off wheel is installed. If you decide to purchase one just be sure that the RPM rating on your wheel matches the rpm speed on your grinder. And be sure to follow the installation instructions on the wheel.

      The Allen key works as it should. No worse or better than a spanner wrench. But like he said, just tighten with your hand.

    Appreciate your review, certainly a like and subscribe and keep 'em coming. Paddle switch I now prefer given wrist issues of late and gotten used to it though like you previously used slide switches only. I do agree with another reviewer regarding enhanced safety with paddle switch.

  • @vaportrail6315
    @vaportrail6315 8 місяців тому

    I would never ever buy a grinder with a sliding switch. Absolutely unsafe. I call that kind of switch a suicide switch. Paddle switch is way safer and easier to use. On construction site you will not see a suicide switch grinder period.
