John, i dont know if you know this. But the childrens toy "little people" makes a character that looks like your twin! He is even a baker. My daughter and i have named him John!
Yum! Love Buckeyes!! My church makes them every year before Thanksgiving. Going to try and make them for Christmas presents this year! Merry Christmas!! 🌲❄⛄😀
Hi ! I am from Ohio. It is Ohio these candies come from. Bc of the buckeye nuts. My Mom taught my sisters and I how to make Buckeyes when we were very young. Our recipe is a regular size jar of peanut butter powdered sugar and a stick of butter to make the peanut butter balls. A whole bag of semi sweet chocolate chips for the dipping chocolate. Always use a double boiler. Going to make Buckeyes this Saturday. Very yummy!
@kinjunranger140 😊♥️ The original recipe called for shaved paraffin. 😳😂 I too switched to coconut oil. I put the balls in the freezer before dipping in chocolate. The colder the better. Gotta eat those ones that drop in the chocolate. 😁👍
I sometimes make these around Christmas, but with homemade almond butter instead of peanut butter, because my cousin, who comes by for Christmas, has a really bad peanut allergy. The almond version is very good as well!! Thanks for the great video :)
I put a 50ml (airlines size) bottle of Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey in each batch. The liquor gives it a complexity that everyone remarks about- but can't identify😅. I also prefer 70% dark chocolate for the shell; it offsets the sweetness from the powdered sugar. ❤
John! John! John! I LOVE to make these but with Crunchy PB, THEN roll them in salted chopped peanuts!!! Thanks again, my man. And I do NOT know what you two use for 'anti aging' but...... It works!! lol. Make sure you 🧔🙎♂ two have a great and crazy Holiday with the twins. Richard
I just realized this is what my family makes every year at Christmas, but we call them peanut butter balls 😅 Creative, lol. But we always add Rice Krispies to the PB mixture, and melt Gulf wax into the chocolate, and cover the whole ball.
I really love your channel! I buy it your book and I am so happy to have it! Thank you so much for all you do for us here!🙏🤗❤️Merry Christmas and all the best wishes for the New Year!❄️🎄☃️
This looks fantastic and right up my alley, but I was wondering if you could do this with crunchy peanut butter? I prefer crunchy and I like the idea of having some peanut bits in them.
Looks sooooo yummy. Please make a candy cane recipe. Merry Christmas to all, and a happy New Year! 2024 has been exhausting, but God's been in charge the whole time. May God bless everybody.❤
I’m giggling at the fact that you filled the little toothpick hole. It looks so funny without It to me haha. I grew up in Cincinnati and make hundred’s of these every year.
I love you and your channel! I have two questions directly relating to my allergies to tree nuts including coconut. 1. I use a (tree nut free) peanut butter that is only peanuts and salt. The company is CBs nuts. How do I compensate? It is also slightly crunchy. They call it “Creamunchy.“ 2. I can’t use coconut oil in the chocolate. What is an acceptable alternative?
For 2: Palmoil (the stuff that hardens)or other vegetable shortening are options. The idea is to add an oil to it, which is melts easy, but is hard at room temperature without adding other stuff like butter would do...or a strong taste. But you dont have to use that..its just to make it easier to work with the chocolate.
Thanks for the forecast! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
No. They shouldn't be crunchy. They're a homemade candy. If someone wanted these to be crunchy, you'd have to add something crunchy like rice crispies. I've never tried that, so I don't know how much to add.
@anticlickbait They're a bit like a Reeses peanut butter cup. I haven't made John's recipe, but my family has a very similar recipe for Buckeyes that I have made. The chocolate shell/outside layer might be considered crisp, but crunchy means something different to me. Perhaps crunchy peanut butter or adding rice crispies could make it crunchy if that's a goal for you. Myself, I find them lovely just as is, no modifications needed.
Im from Ohio and been making these since I was a little kid. Never put vanilla in the buckeyes and the peanut butter and butter should be equal 1:1. I make these every year and give out to my California neighbors that seem to love them as much as my family.
I absolutely love these! For some extra texture I put some Rice Krispies in the peanut butter!
I love this idea! How much rice krispies do you add?
I make Buckeyes for my niece every year and she also loves rice crispies. How much would you add to this recipe?
This is genius
@@jesswinter thank you! Honestly I just kind of eye balled the last time and didn’t measure.
@@GTMonica just eye balled and it and didn’t measure! 🤣
John, i dont know if you know this. But the childrens toy "little people" makes a character that looks like your twin! He is even a baker. My daughter and i have named him John!
You’re right! Glasses and all! 😄👍🏼
🎄 Merry Christmas to everyone! 🎄
Merry Christmas!🎄☃️❄️
Thank you! I hope you have a blessed and joyous Christmas!

Merry Christmas! Jesus Christ is the Reason for the Season!❤

Was just in Ohio for a wedding and was so sad I wasn’t able to pick up any of these while there! Def making my own now, thank you :D
I was just thinking about Buckeyes and now here is a video. I believe John is clairvoyant!

From the south. And have never heard of this before. Definitely want to try this recipe.
Was looking for ideas for something easy to bring into work for our christmas fuddle. These might just be the thing, thanks John!

Born n raised in Springfield OH. Been making these Buckeyes for decades. ❤🎉🥰🏆👍 Making some soon.
I lived in Columbiana for 15 years. Loved it.❤
Is this the same recipe that you use? Mine is slightly different.
@kinjunranger140 😊♥️ The original recipe called for shaved paraffin. 😳😂 I too switched to coconut oil. I put the balls in the freezer before dipping in chocolate. The colder the better. Gotta eat those ones that drop in the chocolate. 😁👍
@@libbyvalley Gotcha. paraffin is what we used in the 70's also. I never liked them because of that. I am your neighbor to the west.
I sometimes make these around Christmas, but with homemade almond butter instead of peanut butter, because my cousin, who comes by for Christmas, has a really bad peanut allergy. The almond version is very good as well!! Thanks for the great video :)
Yeah! My great state of Ohio! I love the homemade ones, commercial ones, not so much.
I LOVE THESE!
LOOKS SO EASY, DEFINITELY GOING TO TRY. THANKS.✌
Yum!!!!!! Can’t wait to make these. You make everything look easy. Thank you so very much 😊

It loooks sooo gooood, i will try it this Christmas dinner ☺️
My best friends mom used to make these but with full chocolate coverage.

Mmmm, buckeyes! ❤️✌️
I just realized this is what my family makes every year at Christmas, but we call them peanut butter balls 😅 Creative, lol. But we always add Rice Krispies to the PB mixture, and melt Gulf wax into the chocolate, and cover the whole ball.
One of my favorites ❤❤❤❤❤😊
Let’s get started!
Definitely my home state, Ohio. My all time favorite treat
Kentucky! Thanks for sharing!
I really love your channel! I buy it your book and I am so happy to have it! Thank you so much for all you do for us here!🙏🤗❤️Merry Christmas and all the best wishes for the New Year!❄️🎄☃️
I will try to do it
Born and raised in Ohio . I now live in Florida make buckeyes every Christmas.
My MawMaw was from Ohio and she used to make these. They are so good!
Buckeyes are sooooo good, especially with dark chocolate! However they seem to be scared of Wolverines for some reason. 😏
From the Uk , are buckeyes conkers , because that makes a very acceptable conker
I didn't even know about these before watching this video. Then again I'm from Chicago, Illinois.
This looks fantastic and right up my alley, but I was wondering if you could do this with crunchy peanut butter? I prefer crunchy and I like the idea of having some peanut bits in them.
I'm a big fan of chocolate and peanut butter. Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are my kryptonite.
Great video John😊😊
Yum, yum and yummy 😋😋😋!!!
I bought ingredients this morning to make these
I am guessing Ohio? I love your videos I just ordered your book and it just shipped out!!
Looks sooooo yummy. Please make a candy cane recipe.
Merry Christmas to all, and a happy New Year!
2024 has been exhausting, but God's been in charge the whole time.
May God bless everybody.❤
❤❤❤❤
😊
❤❤
I had a lovely buckeye in an Ohio wholefoods.
Not only have I never had a Buckeye, I think I've never heard of them but better than Reeses is good! What's hi in the middle and round on the ends? 😁
I’m giggling at the fact that you filled the little toothpick hole. It looks so funny without It to me haha. I grew up in Cincinnati and make hundred’s of these every year.
Yum 😊
Yummy
As an Ohioan I approve
6:17 😅😅😅
Is this the same recipe from your video from 4 or 5 years ago?? I haven't made them in a long time but the last time I did they were a huge hit!

digging the monopoly music lol
Georgia...
Peanut state❤

🤣😂"Chef's salty chocolate balls"
I was going to guess it was popular in Texas 😂
Actually it is popular in Texas. Been making these forever.
I'm trying to cut out cane sugar. Would coconut sugar work instead?
Can you use chunky peanut butter?
O-H-I-O
OHIO. The buckeye state!
What brand is your stand mixer?
I’m allergic to peanuts, like a lot of people. Do you think this combo might work with cashew or almond butter? I’ve never baked with either. Thanks!
I've made my family's version of this Buckeyes recipe with sunflower butter for someone who is allergic to nuts.
What can you use instead of coconut oil? (Allergy)
Just consumed one...okay ...two I ate two 😜🙃😁
I have developed a peanut allergy. Can I use SunButter to make these? I used to make them and miss making them.
I've made my family's version of buckeyes with sunbutter for someone allergic to nuts before.
Is it chocolate compound?
Is this a Christmas dessert? I’ve never heard of it?
Can you use something else besides coconut oil?
Coconut oil combines well with chocolate maybe any other oil can work too
Thanks for the forecast! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
How far in advance will they stay good
He addresses this in his video.
Oh thanks I mustve missed it.
Ohio, of course 😄
Are they crunchy like cookies? 😮
No. They shouldn't be crunchy. They're a homemade candy. If someone wanted these to be crunchy, you'd have to add something crunchy like rice crispies. I've never tried that, so I don't know how much to add.

Very interesting material, keep it up! 👄😻👅
Maybe we can corrupt the recipe and use it for Halloween... Changing for white(painted) chocolate right?
LOL Last two weeks!
I love you
I was making buckeyes before you were born, lol. They wouldn't last two weeks in my fridge, they'd all be eaten before then.
👌🌸👌
Ohio!
