When you think about it.
Laughing like a maniac after certain someone's death in an anime is an appropriate reaction to show or express his or her pain. and others watching the MC laugh will understand that the MCs in pain so they'll try to calm him but here it's the opposite,they think he's laughing out of happiness.

@@mouses_HK actually, when a person has reached or past a limit of stress, especially the lost of a love one, their body will overflow with emotion scaling from absolute breakdown crying or hysterical laughter. i dont fault eren for doing either in hannes death or sashas as its an appropriate reaction to such event

Same I got spoiled then when I saw Gabi climb in I knew it was that moment. I was literally screaming at my screen crying because she was my favorite character. My head still hurts from all that crying. Rest in Peace Potato Girl.

The actual reason he was laughing was not because of a nervous laugh or thats how he laughs it was actually from good memories cause he was remembering a time he had with shasha about her obsession with food
Actually Eren already knew this was gonna happen because of the Paths if i remember correctly and he was actually laughing at himself for not being able to change the future because changing the future wasnt possible like that time with Hannes's death

I think he laugh because of how sasha is always so funny , and as you can see , his mouth change from smiling to anger and regrets . The flashback of her making eren laugh is what make him smile at first and regret after that .

...Sigh....I knew that Sahsa was already living on Borrowed time...she was Originally supposed to die in Season 2...after Mike, when saving that Young girl but that was changed because pre-reader said it was too horrible/sad....I knew she was on borrowed time after that.....but still this Scene always get me...

For those who didn’t understand, Eren laughs because he remembers Sasha for who she was, and that’s the reason why we see the brief flashback. It must’ve been a defensive mechanism to recall who she was, and it’s why it hurts him to hear that she’s no longer here…

Eren's laugh in Sasha's death is similar to his breakdown when Hannes died in S2. He saw it already and despite everything he tried to do, he is still powerless to somehow save both of them because it is the only timeline out of millions of alternates that he saw as the Founding Titan, in which his friends and people stood a chance against the world who all wanted them dead...

@@infamouschad8650 No, it’s because the scouts literally said that Sasha wouldn’t have died if Eren wouldn’t have made himself a hostage to the four titans. It wasn’t Eren’s fault directly, but his actions led to the death of Sasha.

He’s not laughing, he’s already seeing the future, and he doesn’t believe it, and then he confirms again. Where did she know that it was the same as what she said, the last sentence she said was meat (like a desperate laugh)

Honestly, I would've laughcried if I were in Erens shoes. It takes a lot to not break down, even for a moment, when having someone close to you die and instantly reliving a moment with them in your mind. The fact that her last words were "meat" shows that she didn't want them to be sad when they remember/reminisce over her, which makes it harder not to be emotional when you understand the intentions behind the words. I can't believe the rest of the crew started blaming Eren, when in fact, it was their carelessness that caused it. Sasha was alive before someone got on the ship. The person that died fighting the children was supposed to have a lookout, but the lookout left his post.
I guess people still don’t get it that Eren wasn’t laughing like it was a joke. It’s mainly because he already saw it coming from the paths in case nobody still knows. He did the same thing when Hannes died while still crying, and disappointed in himself for not once again being able to do anything to save who he cares bout. Him laughing is like a way that he tries to cope with it, plus him laughing that meat is the last thing she said is something that he knew Sasha would say, and that’s why he’s not as sad as he was when Hannes died right in-front of him because again. He already saw it coming from the paths, and pretty much prepared for it but not emotionally

The misunderstanding of EREN laughing in the anime has made a very big impact on me because of how he has memories of her getting meat from the warehouse.
I cried for about 10 minutes straight. There went my second favorite character.... 💔🥺

When he kissed Historians hand he saw everything including her death in order to bring peace to eldia. Knowing that her last words were actually "meat" he knew what he saw was the truth he can't change but only be a slave that follows her and all he can do is obey her... All for his friends. Ya know what's fascinating? Peoples perspectives.
Because eren killed those child kidnappers in cold blood but people thought that they deserved it and should die because of it because they were "evil"
But then people cry because of Gabi killing sasha and people then hate Gabi unlike the opinions that people had when eren killed two adults ..
But what is different from them is that sasha is this character that we all knew and loved so seeing her death was painful to most people
But for gabi, she saw her as no different from the child kidnappers and thought sasha was "evil" as well but we (the audience) dont think about sasha as evil because of our perspectives that we see for her.
So it really is fascinating about the emotions that people gain or lose due to different exposures that they all have different around the world and possibly around the whole universe.

He's laughing because he feels so hopeless, people sometimes laugh when faced with something so hard to accept, it's like going insane. Because that's when he realized that everything really is going the way he saw from the future. That's why he asked Connie what was Sasha's last word since it being meat feels so unreal, and that was he's only hope that if it's not, then maybe he can change the future, but yah unfortunately he can't and he had to accept the cruel future that lies ahead whether he likes it or not.
