could yous do some sort of challenge where you drive your most hated cars?we know taylors would be a corsa life but what about Rory and Alex?😂
I love how Tom Lenthal has moved from very sober videos with Harry metcalf to being honorary member of Alex’s gang.
I feel they both compliment the different sides of Tom's personality. The sensible business owner and classic car enthusiast and the ..... "OI OI ....YOU BUNCHA FACKIN MUPPETS!" side to him.
Isn't Tom Jack's from Car Throttle uncle?
@@peterdashper2251Wow, that would be interesting. Where was this said?
It’s settled Alex! Buy your mum a 911! I would love to see that episode where you present the car to her.
Really enjoying Josh’s contribution to the channel 👏
Went and looked up the Gay Classic Car Group - over 1000 members! Really impressive, and very cool story from Josh, he's a great addition
Gay as merry car group? Or...?
no, as in fudge packers@@zer0bre
Gay as in gay :)
@@zer0bre gay as in homosexual! Although I'm sure they accept everyone.
The similarities in our stories, particularly Alex’s, Taylor’s and mine are uncanny. Even the Matthew Kelly ‘You Bet’ challenge is the same. Recognising cars ahead in the dark from the shape of their rear lights was my super power! Love it guys, amazing!
So cool to know there are others like us!!
Haha, same!
I had the same super power. Remember that exact episode of you bet with the rear lights and I knew them all. Would love to know when it was shown, I was born 1980. Although I was impressed by the guy that knew the cars by the sound of their door closing. I couldn’t do that.
My love of cars was my dad; he was a vehicle mechanic in the RAF and did a lot of work on the family car, so hanging out with my dad while he worked on our car, or getting to see his work and all the vehicles they had was probably the starting point. We also had some fairly nice cars; a Mk 3 Capri 1.6 when I was a baby, then a custom spec Cavalier (in brown of course) and then a Mazda 626 GTi. Matchbox/Corgi/Hot Wheels toy cars was another thing that made me love cars and then, because I am a millenial so was a teenager when they were on TV; Fifth Gear and Top Gear.
It’s so wonderful to have you guys being openly out / accepting on the channels. Also, I can confirm the GCCG is really good fun!
It’s the greatest car group in the world!
I used to be savvy with identifying cars from their rear lights as a kid. Can't do it as well now as most look the same. There are the odd exceptions like Audi, Renault, and pretty much anything expensive, but I used to be able to tell pretty much everything as I kid in the 90s.
Colin McRae Rally on PS1 in the late 90's. (Yes, im as old as Alex)
That game got me into watching rally and F1. When I started driving, I picked up a Fiesta and then a Lancer. My first good buy was an e36 coupe which Im delighted to say I still own.
Guys please bring the podcast on UA-cam it’s so much more enjoyable to see your faces and expressions 😁
Agreed!!!
The program was called You Bet and there was an episode where a kid could identify cars from the rear lights, I remember it well and I played along and identified them all as well.
Yup, I remember this as well. I also played along and did rather well.
Had to scroll down caus couldn’t think of the name !, who was the presenter?
Matthew Kelly!
@@carlitobriganti9718 Matthew Kelly, but it was Bruce Forsyth before him....good game good game....😅 Showing my age now, although I'm only slight older than Alex
Oh ye ! Haha ,generation game and big break with John Virgo! Sat night in early 90s!
Taylor dad was obviously on Bullseye 😂
My love of cars stems mainly from my dad taking me to local rallies, this also spawned the love for my favourite car, the MK2 Escort
My you bet tallent when i was a kid was headlights in the dark. Loving the podcasts. You need to do more bike content as i bought a VFR400 after the IoM series.
Alex, I use to play the rear light game with my mum and dad when we would travel between Germany and England. I am a fellow Germish like you 👍🏻
I’m one of those guys who love football and cars. I enyoj watching both and also ride all sort of motorbikes. So they are guys who loves both - football and all connected with petrol 😊
My grandads 93 opel vectra 2.0i gls got me into cars (this was moldova in the late 2000s)
Sorry lads your podcasts are absolutely awesome 😂yous talk so much crap it’s great, I’ve said it before it’s the only podcast I’ve ever stayed watching, I hope yous all get the recognition yous deserve. Keep up the great work guys
What a cool spot to have a PODCAST. I missed your talking Alex. Thanks for that video ❤
Another great video, love the podcasts. Similar to Alex I’m ‘old’ and used to be able to identify oncoming cars by their headlights, many years passenger with my parent, the skill is now lost with new cars
Taylor and Tom are a brilliant duo 😂 loving this dynamic on the channel. Top class
I got into cars when my parents raced Minis in 'hotrods' at Coombe Valley in Dover during the 80's. They had a newspaper article about them racing as husband and wife - the picture was both of them around the cars with some tropheys on the bonnet, my Mum had overalls on and high-heels haha. The original 'italian job' was a key feature - Dads (RIP) colours were Red \ White \ Blue #86 - Mum was Blue \ White \ Red #186. Dad used a Marina Van to tow his car and Mum used a mk4 Cortina estate - ghia. When I raced online, I painted my cars in their colours and used #386, the 3 refering to me being the 3rd child (the other 2 were not interested in cars). I've still got 6 project Minis. One day I'll get round to doing them, well, after I get my Dads old Volvo 850 Automatic Estate - 230+k miles - back on the road.
Great hearing of how your love of cars started, I agree that I think it's something your born with I've loved cars for as long as I can remember, apparently my first word was car. My brother has always been into cars so that's where I possibly get it from but to be honest my parents had fairly non inspiring cars when I was growing up a few Rovers a few vauxhalls, I remember my Dad for some reason buying a citroen Picasso once that I absolutely hated, so my parents certainly weren't car people.
Please put the full podcast on UA-cam! I just can't focus with audio only and I'd really love to be able to listen and watch start to finish. Don't get me wrong, these snippets are great, but I'd love to see the full thing, ads or not. ❤
please buy taylor a battered rusty 1.0 3 cylinder vauxhall corsa life on steelys. but please make sure it has between 1 and 3 wheel trims
The very first time I got into cars is when my dad gave me a BMW M1 wide race edition model kit. Then, when I really got into cars is when I drove a friend’s Subaru STI for the first time. After owning two modified WRX I settled for an MX-5 NC2 PRHT, which I modified, and daily it until this day. I love my little car.
when you set rory and taylor off laughing its such a heart combo haha
You seem to really love your mum, which is great! Cherish mum...mum won't always be there and when mum's gone it'll suck dick.
Lost my baby daughter back in 2015 (18 weeks old), and named my car after her. MK3 Focus ST. People say I should sell it and get an RS, but I can't do that
I also never knew my dad but I have one picture of him with his banger racing car. But cars has always had its purpose in my family like an Austin mini my mum owned. Since I was born every time I was taken out or picked up from school I could point out our car from miles away and I have just been passionate about cars ever since
The 306 that Taylor’s mom had is awesome I’ve grown up around 306s because of my dad
I don't necessarily believe you either like cars or football I'm a huge car and football lover and I know plenty of people who love both too, at one point when I was younger I could name every car on the road and I trained as a mechanic and I could name the entire squad for Newcastle United, this was 20 years ago and id give it a go now.
When I went to the shop the other day to get my favourite sweets, peanut M&M's, I was told they had just been cleared out in one go.......... Now I know who it was.
Was the program you were thinking of You Bet? It was weird hearing you say about identifying cars as when I was younger I could also identify most 80s and 90s cars by just the tail lights! Always thought I could do a challenge on You Bet too. I thought I was just weird but glad I shared the talent with someone else!
You guys need to do a 'hated cars: challenge, ref Taylor and his mum's Corsa.
Ahh, Taylor - your mum had an amazing car! My best friends first car was a blue Peugeot 306 xss - 3 door too - phase 1! The best car ever and I was so jealous of him!
And what’s wrong with Longbridge cars???? 😠😆. I have a Rover 25, not out of choice mind, mainly for the fact that it was gifted to me and I just couldn’t turn down a free car 😄👍🏻. Great video! My love of car mechanics also came from my dad, as my mum doesn’t drive. When they split up, I spent every other weekend at my dads and he was always working on cars. We bought a classic mini each when I was about 19 and we did them up together and went to mini owners events. Some of the best years of my life ❤
Can relate on people driving while staring at their phones. Wound up by a gal in a brand new car, still on dealer plates, for a couple miles. In that space, she waited at two lights, ran another light, nearly changed lanes into another car, and took off from the last light and got up to 50 mph in a 30. I figured I'd catch up before they killed someone, and when I got them to stop, I was so mad I couldn't even speak, so I mouthed "put the phone down" and chucked my phone into the passenger footwell.
I agree with Josh there a car us a car showing up and taking part is the only bit that rwally matters. On ya boy.
I don't drive towing a flatbed often but I've had two people drive into my flatbed when I've been stationary. One even tried to claim on my insurance.
Can't remember the name of the show but in the 90's a young lad did appear on a game show and correctly identified quite a few cars just by their tail lights alone. Wonder where he is now?
Longbridge tat love it. First car I had was a mustard yellow Austin Maxi, it was shit. Swapped it for a Volvo 240GL (Goes Lovely), brown. It was infernatly better and the turning circle was the same as a London Black cab.
I was just like Alex when I was little and my love of cars has only increased.
My mom doesn't really care about cars but my dad is into them. Not in an excessive manner like me though. He's never had a sports car, actually 2 out of 3 cars he's had are Mercedes Vitos. And he doesn't really involve in the mechanical part.
So I don't really know about those parts that much either. In fact, Ethan probably knows more than me but I really do love cars. Just haven't really been in the technical part.
I agree with Alex, I think you're just born with it sometimes. I've no idea where my love of cars comes from but it started when I was very young. Neither of my parents are interested and we didn't have cars until I was nearly 10 (and every single car my mum has owned has been awful - Nissan Micra, Renault Scenic, Vauxhall Meriva, Ford Ecosport - shitboxes one and all. In fact I've owned the only objectively good cars with my succession of Focuses, Focii if you will). My step-granddad was involved in the racing Mini scene so took me to Donington when they were on the support bill (I vividly remember sitting in Ricky Cole's British GT Corvette which ignited a lifelong love of motorsport. I still go to British GT at Donington). We didn't have much growing up so I occupied much of my time with what became a significant collection of Top Trumps (and its cheaper offshoots) and my copy of A-Z of Cars. It was primarily about the design (I could identify every car in my card collection by the wheels if it was a stationary shot) but I developed a more mechanical appreciation later in life, though I still can't fix anything
Love the podcasts and as soon as I saw this upload I had to click on it.
£400 for my first 205 GTI and £100 and 12 pathing slabs i got for free from the council for my second one. Both had MOT and were running only very minor issues. This was 2008-2010. Crazy how much they cost now lol. I spent more on the mi16 engine rebuild (but still that was only £1000 fully rebuilt, head skim, balance, rings), I think a clutch was about £120 back then all in.
It'd be great to see a trading up or a restoration series to get your mum that 911 she wants 👍
This is very good. I'll start following the podcast!
I’ve just watched this video Alex and just like you when I was younger I used do the same as you spotting the rear lights of 80s cars! I’m pretty sure there was a show called you bet and I vaguely remember a challenge when a lad had to name rear light lamps on a stand in the t.v studio !!many years ago tho😂 anyway brill video mate
Awesome guys! loving these podcasts .
I’d rather have that Corsa C than a Fiat Multipla… maybe a PT Cruiser is actually MORE desirable though 😅
I love cars and I love football, cars a little bit more but football is up there!
OMG.. similar..
i would say oh thats a lincoln contental with a v8..
DAD: what kind of v8?
ME: depends on the year (now v6 optional turbo)
it was all based on sound but thats what got me hooked..
ill never forget opening up his pontiac grand prix and the look when he realized he was driving a race car in street clothes.. RIP dad, i will get you dream corvette stingray one day..
I think that program was You Bet with Matthew Kelly
TV programme was You Bet with Matthew Kelly!
I used to recognise cars as well, but from front headlights.😊
The show was called You Bet, and it was hosted by Matthew Kelly
For the first few minutes of this video, I was like "Who's the twat tailgating them?!?"
Your mum is a legend, bring her on as a special guest!
Get her that 911
Wow!!! 😮 Never thought I would hear another person talk about a “You Bet” challenge. I repeatedly asked to go on to my Mam and Dad to identify cars by only their door mirrors. 😂
I remember watching the rear lights one and getting them all correct. I couldn’t do the one where he could tell the car off sound of door closing tho.
I thought at the time I would try and do headrests!
My old granada changed from 3rd into reverse at 40mph. Sounded like somebody shaking a can of nails afterwards but the engine ran fine.
Thanks. Last year I ended up paying £50 to get that done for the MOT.
The cars and football comment maybe area specific, most of the people i know love both.
What’s about the displayed Bmw’s and swedish plates? Is that some kind of hint? 🧐
The programme Alex is talking about is called You Bet! And I hate to burst his bubble but someone had already done the Rear Light challenge and I think he won
Challenge Taylor to do the JOGLE in a corsa.
"You Bet" with Matthew Kelly? I remember someone did go on and ID cars by their lights.
Speaking of people's dads having motorycles, when will you's do something with them? Green laneing on some cheap dirt bikes would be sick! Or even building your own scramblers
I’ve been in to the ever since I can remember.
Coming from from a mechanic family
I remember watching You Bet ( I think it was called that) and someone was identifying rear lights on cars while wearing a blindfold 😂
Car and Football boy here!
My parents picked up on my car spotting from a young age, unfortunately it was not encouraged, just noticed.
What was Taylor shouting in the Z3? No idea what he is saying but it cracks me up every time 😂
My mate sid has this insane abilty to say the daftest things. Sharing this video with him he stated, Hey that red car has been tailgating them for ages. Bless him hes such a pleb.
Very much a car and football lover here. I think there's more of us than you'd think.
You Bet with Matthew Kelly (tv show)
I think Alex should introduce his Mom to the viewers. Interview her or take her doing car stuff.
No actual way - I wanted to go on You Bet (with Matthew Kelly) to do the EXACT SAME THING!!
Man Alex and i are the same! Same build, same height, same car identification skills. Only thing is I'm an American.
Ive got a 1.8 SRI for Tay Tay to change his mind about Corsas.
My first car was a 53 plate 1.0l corsa lol
Did you ever get the track bike sorted after the engine problems at Snetterton? Was it a fuel issue? I am the bloke with the beard who parked next to you and annoyed you when i arrived
You Bet with Matthew Kelly was the nuts 😂
Cars and Football - disagree. Up the Villa and up the Jaguar XJs :) (Two of Brum's finest exports)
Through the door perhaps?
It's so refreshing to have such casual and accepted gay representation in the car community! I hope it doesn't sound silly, but I sometimes feel like we are few and far between here in Ireland.
I don't mean to sound dismissive but nobody cares who is gay or not.
And as this Rom guys says - It's nobody's fucking business but your own.
Ikr so proud of Alex to come out
Mate no one cares If you're gay... Victim of your own midset.
Yeah I agree. It’s cool to see people like me representing a section of the car community, and being accepted for it too.
@@dontpanicuk4106 Oscar wild was married.
There once was a kid on these talent shows years ago that did exactly that, he identified about twenty cars from their rear light clusters. It wasn't you was it Alex? Are just projecting on the podcast?
3:11 was this a Jimmy Savile show? He would have destroyed your back box 😂😂 how’s about that then 😂😂
Alex is of an age when it was perfectly normal to write into Jimmy Seville. My friend of a similar age, says the most dangerous thing he did in the 70s was writing into Jim'll fix it.
Full podcast episodes on YT anytime anychance?
lots of people in the Belgium services pretending to be The Manneken Pis for the tourists
In next podcast can you ask Josh if he still has his mighty Mini??
I do!
G'day boyz.....any chance of a Autoalex downunder Series...... and we drive on the same side😁...come join me in the Great Southern Land....From A M8 Downunder🙃
I like cars AND football
my love of cars didn't come from my dad some of the car he had when l was growing up were, a £50.00 Hillman Avenger, a £50.00 mark 4 Cortina in beige with a brown vinyl roof, a daf 66 marathon, and a skoda estelle. so l thought all cars were rubbish and l bought a push bike
I love cars
You haven't lived if you didn't spend long trips in the back of a metro matesro or montego. it was the old school torture for kids back in the day before CD players 😂
I got into cars through the doors.
I like cars AND football. Own a Coupe 20V.
Alex's mom wanted to see if jim'll fix it 😂
Has Taylor gor enough M&M's there 😅
