People snicker at crude nature, but finest blades I ever touched was created same manner.I have Philipines Parang, from WW2 era, single edged,RAZOR RAZOR RAZOR SCARY SHARP!!!! And has not been sharpened since 1940's.The handle has no pin,a crack on top and crack on bottom, still solid..If this was made anywhere else, handle would of been long gone. It's 1/4 thick blade at thickest and tapers to tip. From edge to top spine in mid blade is hand tapered that direction as well.Same quality with Guam Chamorro from same era.Laugh!!! These guys for functionality, make best on planet.
