Whenever I need to extract a single frame from a video clip, I drag the video file into Photoshop and then precisely skim the timeline to copy out what I need to complete my design. This is a very rare task, however I used to open the video file in Premiere to take a screenshot, and essentially do the same thing. I can see how this feature could be useful for Thumbnail Artists, when they need to find a good moment from a video.
Actually this is really the best timeline editor I have ever seen compared to real video editing softwares, it like mixture of after effects and premiere pro, its perfect, I wish after effects was also like this so it would be easier to edit different videos. Someone really should make a software that combine after effects with photoshop and premiere, but adobe want to sell many products so thats why probably it divide things. This is really so cool. By the way, u explain very clearly, thank youu even though I already know!!!
I agree, it's pretty awesome. Most people overlook that you can drag Photoshop files into Premiere, then edit the .PSD file in real time - all you have to do is save the file and it will automatically update on your Premiere timeline.
Question: I have a small section of a film I’m restoring with a nasty film tear on the original print. Will photoshop allow one to import a 1 sec portion of video and fix and paint those frames as if they were photos? Create layers , masks ect for each frame?
You’re better off learning Adobe After Effects with Content Aware Tracking to achieve the results you’re after - PS would be an entirely manual process and inconsistent, AE would let you track matte the section.
Can I color grade a log clip by adding a LUT? I’ve been trying to do this for drone footage but can’t find a video for it. (I don’t use Premiere) thanks
You would need to search for a video on how to import LUTs into Photoshop. Once you have learned that, you can apply the effect to your video clip in the layers panel.
@@dfergang7787 Yeah, do you have a M1 Mac?If so you are in the same boat I was. It took me too much time to find information to make it work, but I I remember correctly you have to download an older version of photoshop
Is there anyone else on this god-cursed planet who cannot open a GoPro file in PS CC (.MP4 or a LVR, etc.) in Photoshop 2023 CC? Nothing works; it just says, ' The file could not be opened.' Or drag and drop says, Could not place..........MP4 because the video file could not be opened. I have tried files from my phone; they open, and all the GoPro files open in VLC, etc., and work in other applications. Is it the GoPro 10? is useless, and they just want you to use their gear?
I wasn’t able to concentrate. But I’ll definitely re-watch when I’ve got photoshop in front of me. This is a clear and easy to follow demonstration.
Amazing…
You made the process so clear.
👍🏼
Welcome :)
so clear
Great tutorial, short, snappy and enough to get me going straight away
Great to hear!
Very helpful....finally delivered my first project to a client and they loved it
Glad it was helpful!

Great for beginners like me! Good to know that I don't have to spend more $ to learn in Premiere Pro, thanks for this!!
Happy to help!

Great video! Really helpful for sure.
Cool. Seems straightforward enough. I can't wait to try it. Thanks so much!
Good luck!
Why do the clips need to be independent? Won’t it work as a group. I’m very new to this….
Same worry
Photoshop is not intended for video editing, but you can try different things and see if it works.
Love the video 💯 present use full
Why are the videos I render slightly different in length??
I make each frame last 0,04 seconds. That should be 30fps right...? What am i missing 😢
Hallelujah! To God be the Glory

is it not possible to add keyframes to the video clips, for example to make an adjustment layer increase or decrease through time?
For that, you need to use After Effects.

Can you apply filters?
Excellent, I now have some beginners grasp. But how do I get the clips to fade from one to another ?
You must use keyframes on each layer, at the beginning and end points.

If you mean importing excel files, that is not possible, but you could convert a .csv into a .pdf and drag that into Photoshop.
Can I create a video in Photoshop? Mainly a text video.
It's possible.
Hmmm similary make after efect ?
Premiere is the best for light video editing. After Effects - if you need to do special effects and animations.
Did I miss something it’s not letting me drag the video

It may be that the file is unsupported. I suggest that you convert the file format to something else and try again.
