    Is it me or is it sad that this episode came out like 20 years ago and is still relevant. The worst part is that the topic of abortion has gotten worse in terms of being a pressing volatile topic.

    The writers used the wrong diagnosis for the baby, it wasn't Ehler's Danlos Syndrome (EDS). I have EDS, and while there are different types that have things in common as well as affect different systems, the skin tearing isn't one of the issues. If it affects the skin, it makes it stretch more than it normally should, but not tear.

  • @incorrigibl
    @incorrigibl 3 місяці тому +38

    at 3:37 he says Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome causes extreme tearing of the skin- I think the writers meant Epidermolysis Bullosa, sometimes called butterfly skin disease! EDS shouldn't cause skin issues of that severity :P

      yeah one of my friends from high school has EDS and she has issues with her joints and had broken her back several times from falls that would just give us bruises but nothing about the tearing of the skin. i am pro choice and even i was a little shocked she was going to abort just over EDS as it sucks to have, but you can live a full and normal life. you are correct. thats EB.

    Its an interesting episode but i don't think third trimester abortions were a thing at the time this episode was written. Is it just exaggerated for the plot? Pretty sure under Roe that kind of procedure would not have been possible.

    Abortion is a very sensitive topic for both sides of the coin.
    On one hand, you have someone who believes the second the egg is inseminated, that's life; no matter what happens, that's a child, living, and with a soul.
    On the other hand, others believe it isn't a child until birth, or at least 2 or so weeks til delivery. Even then, there are others that say if it's born with a terrible disease or is born and not wanted with the parents nott able to provide with low chances of adoption to "abort" the birth (which is waaaaay radical at this point).
    My belief is that God gives us children. He is the one that ultimately decides who gets born when and how. When we take advantage of the gift of children (either by being stupid and not wearing protection or having early intimacy without the knowledge of the responsibilities/consequences ) and then say, "no, we don't want this" and then kill it to never live a life that it could have lived, regardless of it's condition...it just sounds off.
    However, I can't make a decision for you. It's between you, the father/mother, and God.

      No, there’s no limit in CO, and there’s at least one provider there who specializes in third-trimester abortions because they are so rare and difficult to access. There’s only like 4 doctors in the entire US who do it
