    Update guys, it looks like they've sold out of the MT601, but they do have some other mileage correction tools that might be of use.

    I ordered the MT401, it arrived in 2 weeks. Plugged it into my 2005 Silverado, went through the steps and it actually worked. Replaced my cluster months ago with an ebay special with trans temp guage. This tool is awesome, thanks for the tip.

    What an awesome tool. Kudos to OBDZON for sure. I did this swap on two of my GMT800 trucks, although I went with the Platinum Escalade cluster. I went to Speed-O-Tach in Concord, CA (sadly, no longer in business) to have them adjust the odometer and engine hours.

    Denali gauge cluster swap is awesome The aqua glow is my favorite part. . I did it in my daily driver 2001 single cab long box 5.3. The unit I bought happen to have a few hundred more miles than what my truck was at, so I bought it and just drove up to the mileage before installing.

      I put some cool white LEDs in the cluster in the uglytruck and because of the blue filter they come out blue which looks cool, but on the stepside I kept the stock bulbs, and love the green as well.

      ISS automotive great source for reman clusters. No deposit hassle. Shorter warranty if you don’t send yours or lifetime if returned in 60 days I think when I got mine last year. I got the blue leds and love it. My cluster was not repairable because someone had been in it before and their repair broke.

    Hi LT,
    Glad that you were able to correct the mileage through the OBD2 port. That is way easier than doing it with an EEPROM programmer. Especially if you need to unsolder and re-solder the daughter board on the cluster. Thanks for the video!

    I would imagine if milage was going to be taxed per mile, big tech would be incorporated in that with some sort of gps registered and installed on each vehicle. Surely they're aware of products like this considering that laws are in place to prevent dealers from dialing back, which doesn't work because it still happens

    Hey LT is the background lights in cluster (the numbers and lines bulbs) are those stock color bulbs or did you change them? I recently soldered blue bulbs into my TBSS and they are almost blotchy cause they shine too brightly.

    • @LawrenceTolman
      @LawrenceTolman  3 роки тому +1

      so these Denali clusters normally shine through with a light green color from the factory (yellow bulb + blue filter) and when I swapped out the stock bulb for a cool white LED, the light passes through the blue filter, and you get blue up front. I got the widest angle LED bulbs I could

    • @LawrenceTolman
      @LawrenceTolman  3 роки тому

      yeah, I saw that, and I think it's just an error in how they listed the years of the trucks on the menu. The 1997 and 1998 chevy fullsize truck still used an analog odometer anyway, so I'm pretty sure you would just select the 97-01 option if you have a 2002 truck, since they share the same electronics

    So I saw your video on swaping from the electric shift transfer case to the manual one and I was wondering how hard it would be with a 1997 c1500 suburban since there is no torsion bars if it would be easier to put a transfer case in it and can I change out the output shaft on the trans to run my trans my plans are to straight axle swap it and what's different on the 6 lug axle vs the 5 lug axle can I just bolt a 6 lug rear axle in it or does it require modification

    • @LawrenceTolman
      @LawrenceTolman  3 роки тому +1

      5 or 6 lug axle shouldn't matter much, they have the same yoke for the driveshaft to bolt up to and in a 1/2 ton they are both an 8.5" 10-bolt anyway. There are stronger axles out there like the 14 bolt semi floater or full floater if you are going to be running big tires and doing some more agressive off roading. And yes, you can take apart your transmission and swap output shafts to allow a transfer case to bolt up to. Then, you're on your way to SAS.

      Not to brag , but my yukon denali has 352,145 .
      Paid $500 for it and spent all of $15 and a weekend fixing most of its issues . Oil leak (loose plug on oil cooler manifold) , rough idle (dirty throttle body) , and wonky cluster workings .
      It's not new at all but runs fairly well and could use a little more TLC. But six months in , and I couldn't be happier . It came with new tires a recent Trans build and a new battery .
      Who would buy a new vehicle with all these great GM's laying around . To me $500 and a little time for six months of perfect service , might as well be called a free ride .

    For the cost of the programmer it would be cheaper to take the cluster to the dealership and have them reprogram it to the true mileage.

      Some dealership’s won’t do it and they don’t have the ability to change it. I worked at Toyota for 15 years and none of our scan tools won’t let you change miles. Only way to get the miles correct is to order a new cluster or take it to a place that specializes in clusters.

    Not that we have ever been able trust the milage reading on any used car,..... NOW.......the dealers have to think twice (look) at the cars they buy from us which means car values are going down the tube and mileage will no longer be considered.
