As a Florida Trail member I have to agree ....Road walks , Yep , we got them but so does the AT. The AT started in 1923 and the Florida Trail started in1966 or 43 years later then the AT. The FT started in the Ocala National forest and then expanded from there. All of this was going on during the constant Florida building boom ( which is still happening ). like the new homes constantly being built the FT is also a work in progress. The FT is always acquiring areas to bypass road walking but the process is slow.
I wish the FT would of started back in the late 40's or early 50's when there was a lot of wild land but sadly it didn't. It was a different and a lot better Florida back then. I enjoyed your posts , they brought back enjoyable memories. As far as hiking , I like to say , A few bumps in the road makes the path a lot smoother.

Love it. I agree. Many newer trails, like the North Country I work on, have the exact same issue. I don't remember the 40s, but I do remember the 50s. My grandparents retired to Florida in the mid 1950s and introduced me to a lot of it. The silent invasion (world population) has ingested much of it. It's has an appetite that cannot be satisfied. Thanks for the post. Keep Smilin'

There is a great Airbnb very near the Airport in Sanford that I will use if I am flying in or out there on Alligiant - if you are stuck in that position again. Great breakfast as well. Life seems to be one long stretch of trail and error. Best...
I think the Hilleberg answer is weight and cost...I started w/army surplus gear and a framed backpack w/a heavy cotton sleeping bag 50 years ago. If I could lug all that stuff when I was 12, I think whatever I happen to have gear-wise today will be fine.

Aitbnb would have been much nicer than airport chair. If I had a free standing tent I would have pitched it in the airport museum. You come from the same gear generation as me. Things have changed. Keep Smilin'

I thoroughly enjoyed following your Florida Trail hike. I'm 61 years old and just getting into hiking myself. Looking forward to your gear videos!

I really enjoy your videos. I learn a ton. Did you see Grayl has come out with a 24 ounce titanium option? I think I like that extra capacity in titanium format. Thanks again for all the videos!

Yes, I really like this filter. Not sure how long I will continue to carry it. Did a video about my feeling on it. Will be out next week. Keep Smilin'

Would you recommend the Hillieberg Enan to people over 6 foot?

I would say, on any inflatable pad, your head would touch the inner tent when trying to sit up. But more important would be torso length. I can only sit up in the middle. Next video is actually all about the Enan. Stay tuned. Keep Smilin'
