  • In this video, me and a few friends head to a creek right in the middle of the city, and it is FULL of LIFE! We catch a TON of species, including one of the largest, strangest fish I have ever seen!
    I was using 2 lb line, and a mister twister micro craw to catch all the creek fish!
    THANK YOU for watching, please let me know if you want to see more CREEK ADVENTURES!

    A big thumbs up for wading in that nasty water and the grab on that pleco, we can usually just pull them out of their holes along the bank. Last week I had a six pound (big for Florida) peacock wrap up on a shopping cart, after ten minutes I was just about to break him off and he swam out.

      That’s called an Ultralite Rig. Their supposed to be small. I’ve won many tournaments using my ultralite rod and reels. They have a time and place. When the water is extremely clear and larger reels can’t handle the light line. I’ve caught huge fish off of them! Each rod and reel rig has a time and place Also tiny waterways like that creek are too small for full size gear.

      I’m a professional largemouth bass fisherman and I can be one out of many, many pros to say that the open face spinning and bait casting reels each have their time and place. To only fish with one is a mistake.I’ve won many tournaments on days where I’ve had to switch my tactics to a lighter line and gear ratio that most bait casters do not have. However I will agree with you when it comes to those big Micky Mouse Zebco closed face reels!!! Any man who’s worth his salt on the water wouldn’t be caught dead using one of those things so I’ll definitely agree with you on that one sir! I hear where you’re coming from when it comes to that on!!! What do you normally prefer to fish for Bill? Just curious what your favorite brand of bait caster? I have seven Shimano Bantam Curado reels with different rod combos. I’ve won endless tournaments off of them. After too long Shimano finally decided to become one of my sponsors. If you ever get the chance to pick one up at Bass Pro or online I promise you’ll love it! Check it out online just to give it a look!

    Ty! I was recently gifted a West Point Crappie pole (something I'd never heard of before receiving it). It's 10"1 long from butt to tip and has guides even smaller than the guides on my fly rod. I'm trying to figure out what kind of reel to put on it. West Point makes a very cheap fly-style reel that ostensibly is intended for it, but I emphasize cheap; I don't want to waste my money on it. The rod isn't built for a fly fishing setup; the reel seat is right in the middle of the handle instead of down in the butt of the rod. I've been considering the merits of a baitcasting reel, but I have no experience with them. What is your advice? Should I go with the baitcasting reel or look for something else? Figured your experience might give you some better insights than I have.

    • @TyPigPatrol
      @TyPigPatrol  5 років тому +1

      That reel is likely made for literally dripping baits into a strike zone instead of casting. That’s why it’s so long. I’d put a size 1000 spinning reel on it and try it for dropping crappie baits vertically into structure!

      LOL i learned to fish with one of those, over 50 years ago.
      Then moved up to a "clicker", some things never change.
      Best spincaster I ever bought is a now 40 year old Olympic, outside is beat up but looks like new inside, still nearly silent.

      @@TyPigPatrol Yes, I forgot about the drag, I can't remember ever catching a thing on a zebco 🤔😀 We went to Garcia reels after that, my grandpa was a fan of the Mitchell 300's if I remember correctly. 🙂
