I think the first children's fate is a mix of all three possibilities. But I like to think they had a similar fate to the Elder things of hp lovecrafts lore. Where the shoggoths rebeled against their master. Maybe the humuculi did the same for the first children.
Mmmh, the First Children remind me more and more of the Elder Things from lovecraft with their strange arcane biotech and custom-made slaves as well as their dissapearance but a little bit more explicity evil. I wonder if they have just taken refuge in the Earth inside some sort of great underground facility and have become paler over time (and maybe morlock-like, with that irony touch), it sounds like that they are very inspired by the greys with the mind control and flying saucers. I think what I'm liking most about your worldbuilding is how large the timescales can get, sometimes with things happening on the spawn of millions of years, usually fantasy settings stop at milenia and that usually takes me a little bit out of the setting (I assume the First Children are not that old, though). That said, the portal getting out of control could be a terrifying prospect, specially from the Earth side and I wouldn't expect that happening so soon.
Interesting. The First Children definitely have a bit of "the Children of the Forest" vibe from a Song of Ice and Fire mixed with a fair amount of ancient aliens, but they are also very clearly their own thing
Both were definitely inspirations, although my biggest inspiration for them was old school fairies. Ancient kinda eldritch forces of magic that are difficult to comprehend, that see the laws of man and nature more as a challenge than anything else. That live by their strict codes that often conflict with our sense of morality.
@@TalesofKaimere I can definitely see that! Folkloric Fey beings aren't just magical, but supernatural in a way that mortal beings can't truly relate to. They are often thought to be tricksters but that's largely because their motivations are so vastly different from ours. It's always interesting to see modern fantasy that treats elves and goblins as more "a Midsummer Night's Dream" and less "Lord of the Rings." Not that there is anything wrong with LotRs, and not that both approaches can't be married together. In any case, I recently found your channel and I appreciate all the hard work you've put into your world. I came for the speculative evolution, but stayed for the weird magic lore. Well, I'm ALSO still staying for the speculative evolution aspect. Can't wait to here about all the squamates running around. I know the appeal of this sort of world is how well mammals can integrate into a world of dinosaurs but you'd think iguanas and monitor lizards are having a field day in what is essentially a warmer and wetter earth.
Hey, so I have a few questions about the First Children and their use of magic! 1) Did the First Children (or any other magic-users ever even in the current day for that matter) ever learn that the portal doesn't actually teleport but rather dismantle and clone and avoid it for this reason? 2) If so, did the First Children manage to modify the portal to actually send matter instead of the old method? (Could explain the faster times if the portal doesn't need to look for matter to rebuild) 3) Did the First Children ever learn to create their own portals or send swarms to create new locations for the Whistling Door? Ignoring if this is true or not, was it ever a hypothesis Kaimeran historians have brought up to explain their disappearance? 4) If virulent magic can transform organisms to fit their liking, could it regenerate an organism from old age and/or battle damage? If so, did the First Children use this for their advantage in either themselves or homunculi? Did a lesser form of this cause the long Kaimeran lifespans? 5) Did the First Children ever try to actually colonize Earth? Of course, you don't have to answer any of these, but I'd love to have any number of answers!
So if the whistling door works like the normal portal, does it mean it consumes whoever travels through it before replicating it? If that's the case, does that mean that anyone who travels through the door dies, and what gets to the other side is a clone who was never aware they were a copy, even though the original person has passed away? Or is the original person's consciousness also transported along with the memories?
The first children after their original home island got supposedly destroyed by volcanic activity: "Well that's a clear sign that we should conquer the rest of this world!" It was very interesting to learn more about those disturbing little guys. It's crazy how their influence on the entire known world and beyond can be sensed pretty well even 11,000 years after their demise. And with the fact the cause of their downfall is unknown I bet some kaimerans probably live in fear that they might return some day. On a less serious note, at this point you've just marked the basics of the extent of their horrific activities, but I think one of their most evil accomplishments is the fact that they cut short the harvest that could have brought Smilodon in Kaimere. Such a thing should be a crime lol
For the most part Kaimerans are just like 'oh those are the little guys that build cool stuff' but anyone who's studied the history of the First Children gains a deep existential anxiety that their return is inevitable. Could beings who abducted countless sapient beings and used their bodies to create monsters, controlled the most powerful swarm of Kaimeran magic, and culled an entire peninsula of beings and beasts in a few years using only their magic *really* be gone? What could have wiped them out, and surely they must have some hidden populations? If so, what are they waiting for? Kaimeran scholars and members of the Assembly in the know just lying back all night in fear. Yeah they were... the worst.

@Bloody Raiu I'm trying to maintain a generally genuine supernatural elements. Characters call and mistake things for magic all the time but the setting is still grounded. That said, the portal itself certainly operates in a way that could be understood as 'god like'. If the portal were ever in a combative state of mind, it could take anything in the current canon without breaking a sweat. Aside from that, there were some pretty powerful homunculi that were not awakened. Currently in stasis but if awakened would be among the greatest contenders for 'most powerful being' that isn't the portal.
@Bloody Raiu Hmm I haven't developed much on the dormant homunculi, but some of them might be able to at least give a modotan a run for their money when combining are strength and whatever magic they were imbued with, but until I really sit down and figure out what they were made for and whatnot I won't know. Too early in the process. If they were past a certain mass they would have utilized titanosaur bodyplans since they're the most efficient for that size that the First Children had access to, so the fight would basically be 'human titanosaur hybrid vs titanosaur' lol. Barring any extreme design they wouldn't be that different from the prairie giants that are mixed with Palaeoloxodon, just bigger and with armored scales.

And are not here like that like it's was alway the case without explanation. These two parts videos about the Portal of Kaimere, and the First Childrens themselves too, is from far the most serious and important videos of thé channel and to explain one of the biggest aspect of about what makes Kaimere and what its entire existence is based on! We have two characters : the Great Portal and the First Childrens. Both are marvelous, interesting, fascinating and others adjective in this way, but also a big part of negative and more obscurs/dark part and aspects of their nature ! However ! They're a Big difference between the two! Thus the Portal is a organic lifeform (composed by many portal, who form a hive and act together as one single individual) who is capable of high realisation (almost divine) with his complex capacities/aptitudes to upgrade and optimize his own home birth planet for his legetimate comfort, but have despite all that a high intelligence and organisation who however not surpasses the one of a AI /Big computer of our world, and by this fact, made time to time mistakes without learning from his errors, the First Childrens are the opposite ! Because where the Portal is unaware of his own action, the First Childrens are completely aware and conscious of theirs. All along their History, even shorter compared to the one of the Portal, they made only evil, nagative, dubious, cruel, non ethical bads, dissapointing actions towards everything around them on Kaimere, in a high important way ! Like manipulated people, creating hybrids (the homunculies) enslaved Kaimerans, exterminate and killing wildlife, etc... for their own self-centered profit, benefit, pleasure and comfort (worse than ours with our earth planet) and hurt badly the Portal himself by a device and force him to follow their orders. So i'm really sad for the Portal and all thé bads things he endure from this terrible era. But happy that the First Childrens become extinct, and that Kaimere recovers and all become with time normal again like before their Golden age domination era !
How long could the first children typically live? Your modern Kaimereans are stated to regularly survive into their sixth century so I was curious about exact lifespans. Also I have to ask since I saw flying saucers and we've entered conspiracy territory with the whole Bermuda Triangle angle, are they the ones responsible for the image of the short-statured Grey aliens, their associated Nordic companions, and the stories of prominent abductions throughout history especially in the 20th century at Roswell?
Full first children lifespan isn’t known, but analysis of their skulls show they could reach at least 7 centuries. Possibly longer. They and the Homunculi they sent to harvest specimens from Earth are indeed responsible for a lot of abduction myths on Earth, from fairies to aliens.

Wow, I love learning more about how the portals work as well as getting some more background on the first children. They seem almost other worldly with their size as well as their advantages against Kamierens as well as probably humans. They seem almost like an ingenious plague upon the planet taking and making what they wanted and destroying the rest. But with their sudden extinction there figures in their toys ran loose upon the planet. Definitely a very very interesting part of Kaimeren history I would love to learn more about. And I think this might’ve helped me sort out the ancient civilization I wanted to put on my speculative continent. It wouldn’t be as vast or as powerful as the first children but it would definitely leave a big mark on the continent that wouldn’t be truly be understood by Europeans until the late 1900s.
The First Childrens descend from the Homo erectus (one of the most famous extinct specie ancestor relatives, especially known for use of tools). Outside that, on Kaimere, all the Homo erectus become a new complete specie, Homo altus (the specie name is a refference to the big size), who live outside the Known World on the Western, Northen and Eastern Continent. But there some relical normal Homo erectus, here and here, like in the Known World, hidden from the others inhabitants. It’s happened once with a plane and one man was brought through because he was rescued by the spy ship and they had to leave him at the quarantine hospital, but for the most part the Assembly actually perpetuates and exaggerated how many ships and planes are lost in the region to prevent accidental passage or discovery.

So, like I alway said too since some time, despite the fact that the Known World and the entire planet of Kaimere is sufficiently full of organic life and species and that the overall ecosystem is more than stable in good health and that in fact the Portal does not need to go further to continue to take living beings on earth to fill the different ecological niches of the planet, we know definitely why this later keep it up anyway the havests. You give and explain here to us really a overall but recise perfect story of them and their civilisation, with all their mysteries and evilness. They appears from nowhere, maybe from a island lie you said, and came to Pakardia where they first settle in the highland of this island (the spine teritory area) where they extirpate the local giants ground sloth to use the caverns and cave of these later to build a first big and properous city, but came after that because of the Pakardian to Qajar, making him their main territory, build a capital and a giant wall to prevent animals from the rest of the Western Continent and Arvel region from going to Qajar. After that, the First Children spread everywhere here and here, in and outside the Knwon World, making numerous cities. And making many experiment and hybrids between humans and animals to their own benefit and pleasure. Homunculies were just slaves, pets or cattle for them. This was their Golden Age ! They alway known to use and manipulate magic for various uses, but their thirst for power, domination, control of everything and conquest over everything and by magic grows again and again over time. The more they learned to master magic, the more they wanted to control it despite it having reached a certain high and respectable level... I imagine that it is because of all this, this thirst for incontoller power that they ended up crossing the limit of no return, going too far and being themselves responsible for their own loss. They definitely ended up creating or doing something that backfired and they didn't have time to react to defend themselves. Despite the fact that their civilization was wonderful, large, prosperous and important, the First Children were negative, mean, evil, vicious, did not respect the lives of others, had no ethics or morals! In fact, it's a rather a very good thing that their species and their civilization have completely died out, so that nothing comparable to what they did in terms of crimes and errors can be reproduced on their scales. And their ruins, the test of time and some of which will remain in place forever, forever and eternity, now serve as an example and a call for precaution and warning to the other human peoples of Kaimere, so that that none of them, by the fear that the First Children have made them suffer and always in them, do not comment on the same errors...
Amazingly well done and detailed I kinda don't the first children hunting the giant sloths to near extinction and killing animals for own gain is cruel, but I really do like this video about the whistling door as it give us an insight history of an antinct race that went extinct for unknown reasons. Watching this, the possibility that comes to my mind is that Portal deemed the First Children as too disruptive for its purposes and wiped them out without replicating them anywhere. I have't seen the other videos on "magic" as of the time of making this comment, so perhaps this scenario is directly invalidated by the rest of the lore, but I find the idea of Portal "culling" an overly disruptive species kinda plausible. Edit: Ah so the entire super-organism of Portal is bound by the whistling door, rather than a specific part of the swarm? That would invalidate my guess.
I know you said in a previous video that you hadn't gone into too much depth on the smaller fauna but I'm curious if there are any substantial or larger snakes , amphibians and or larger species lizards(excluding the large interisland monitor species)
The concept about neothenic hominid is particulary intresting for me ! I love neothenic creature ! Neothenic, from the word Neotheny, means that an animal specie have the ability to still young/in a juvenile stage during all her life (without being immortal however) and conserve mainly see only juvenile caracteristiques with the only adult element they can have is to being capable to repoduce to perpetuate the specie. But sometime, some specimen of the specie can see this ability become inactive an grow to the adul form of their specie that few specimens reach in normal time. The Megaraptorian Oritaku is a neothenic specie, same for the Panther Parrot, an arboreal terror bird. On earth, the most well know specie with this ability is the Axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum). BTW, are there Axolotl or relative species or equivalent animal on kaimere ?

Like a modern generic Boeing-737 or a plane like that be taken byn Portal, crash somewhere (in the sea or direct on the lands) and the survivors interactions and encounter with the local fauna. Or a random animal, an Indrakai or Oritaku who walk along the beach of Pakardia and discover the remain of a modern plane or boat like a ocean linner failed with corpse and any survivors, and the creature interact with the modern device who can be still worked. Or same scenario underwater with a individual of one of the homunculus mermaids species Kaimere have (and who can be the character of his own story, because it's should be interesting that others characters outside the Kaimerans specie be main character) who find either a plane or boat and collect modern things to our world and become curious on how vast the world is! In all cases, I like a lot the fact you use unexplain and surnatural element of our cultur/society from the real life that you incorporate in your universe lore. Because it's very clever, especially the OVNI explanation in our earth that are in fact device made by the First Childrens to take life on earth for their own dubious and non ethical experiences (with some of these device stuck on earth since their mysterious extinction).

I have a question. Since the whole copy-paste and space travelling capabilities of the portal are really out there in the realms of plausibility, would they be able to travel between universes?
Since the Whistling Door breaks things down faster than the hive does on its own, does that mean it causes little to no pain when transferring people between Kaimere and Earth (or vice versa)?
The portals could travel through the space and can replicate inorganic materials, so does that mean the portlas could be used to defend the planet from meteor/asteroid? Would the replicated meteor/asteroid still retain the speed? Could it be used in warfare?

Most of the hives died over time because objects can't sustain magic indefinitely. They need sustenance. Most of the flying saucers had their magic die and they decomposed naturally thousands of years ago. The 'celestial wall' of Qajar is only still alive because its covered in vegetation for the magic to eat.
Most of their tech was powered by magic. Why make a wrench when you can effectively 3D print a part and screw it in with magic? There were some mechanical things but most of it was ‘magitech’
That is classified, but the rumor is that it was a craft piloted by a ship of homunculi that is still harvesting because that's what it was programmed to do even though its been like 10k years since they actually had someone to return the bodies to. Basically homunculi have to harvest, but they just return people because they don't have orders for the next step.

Mmmh, the First Children remind me more and more of the Elder Things from lovecraft with their strange arcane biotech and custom-made slaves as well as their dissapearance but a little bit more explicity evil. I wonder if they have just taken refuge in the Earth inside some sort of great underground facility and have become paler over time (and maybe morlock-like, with that irony touch), it sounds like that they are very inspired by the greys with the mind control and flying saucers.
I think what I'm liking most about your worldbuilding is how large the timescales can get, sometimes with things happening on the spawn of millions of years, usually fantasy settings stop at milenia and that usually takes me a little bit out of the setting (I assume the First Children are not that old, though). That said, the portal getting out of control could be a terrifying prospect, specially from the Earth side and I wouldn't expect that happening so soon.
Considering how tiny the First Children were, you'd thought their structures and homes would be more reflective of their actual size.
The devices and vehicles are indeed sized for them.

Interesting. The First Children definitely have a bit of "the Children of the Forest" vibe from a Song of Ice and Fire mixed with a fair amount of ancient aliens, but they are also very clearly their own thing
Both were definitely inspirations, although my biggest inspiration for them was old school fairies. Ancient kinda eldritch forces of magic that are difficult to comprehend, that see the laws of man and nature more as a challenge than anything else. That live by their strict codes that often conflict with our sense of morality.
@@TalesofKaimere I can definitely see that! Folkloric Fey beings aren't just magical, but supernatural in a way that mortal beings can't truly relate to. They are often thought to be tricksters but that's largely because their motivations are so vastly different from ours.
It's always interesting to see modern fantasy that treats elves and goblins as more "a Midsummer Night's Dream" and less "Lord of the Rings."
Not that there is anything wrong with LotRs, and not that both approaches can't be married together.
In any case, I recently found your channel and I appreciate all the hard work you've put into your world. I came for the speculative evolution, but stayed for the weird magic lore. Well, I'm ALSO still staying for the speculative evolution aspect. Can't wait to here about all the squamates running around. I know the appeal of this sort of world is how well mammals can integrate into a world of dinosaurs but you'd think iguanas and monitor lizards are having a field day in what is essentially a warmer and wetter earth.

Hey, so I have a few questions about the First Children and their use of magic!
1) Did the First Children (or any other magic-users ever even in the current day for that matter) ever learn that the portal doesn't actually teleport but rather dismantle and clone and avoid it for this reason?
2) If so, did the First Children manage to modify the portal to actually send matter instead of the old method? (Could explain the faster times if the portal doesn't need to look for matter to rebuild)
3) Did the First Children ever learn to create their own portals or send swarms to create new locations for the Whistling Door? Ignoring if this is true or not, was it ever a hypothesis Kaimeran historians have brought up to explain their disappearance?
4) If virulent magic can transform organisms to fit their liking, could it regenerate an organism from old age and/or battle damage? If so, did the First Children use this for their advantage in either themselves or homunculi? Did a lesser form of this cause the long Kaimeran lifespans?
5) Did the First Children ever try to actually colonize Earth?
Of course, you don't have to answer any of these, but I'd love to have any number of answers!
So if the whistling door works like the normal portal, does it mean it consumes whoever travels through it before replicating it? If that's the case, does that mean that anyone who travels through the door dies, and what gets to the other side is a clone who was never aware they were a copy, even though the original person has passed away? Or is the original person's consciousness also transported along with the memories?
The first children after their original home island got supposedly destroyed by volcanic activity: "Well that's a clear sign that we should conquer the rest of this world!"
It was very interesting to learn more about those disturbing little guys. It's crazy how their influence on the entire known world and beyond can be sensed pretty well even 11,000 years after their demise. And with the fact the cause of their downfall is unknown I bet some kaimerans probably live in fear that they might return some day.
On a less serious note, at this point you've just marked the basics of the extent of their horrific activities, but I think one of their most evil accomplishments is the fact that they cut short the harvest that could have brought Smilodon in Kaimere. Such a thing should be a crime lol
For the most part Kaimerans are just like 'oh those are the little guys that build cool stuff' but anyone who's studied the history of the First Children gains a deep existential anxiety that their return is inevitable. Could beings who abducted countless sapient beings and used their bodies to create monsters, controlled the most powerful swarm of Kaimeran magic, and culled an entire peninsula of beings and beasts in a few years using only their magic *really* be gone? What could have wiped them out, and surely they must have some hidden populations? If so, what are they waiting for? Kaimeran scholars and members of the Assembly in the know just lying back all night in fear.

@Bloody Raiu I'm trying to maintain a generally genuine supernatural elements. Characters call and mistake things for magic all the time but the setting is still grounded. That said, the portal itself certainly operates in a way that could be understood as 'god like'. If the portal were ever in a combative state of mind, it could take anything in the current canon without breaking a sweat. Aside from that, there were some pretty powerful homunculi that were not awakened. Currently in stasis but if awakened would be among the greatest contenders for 'most powerful being' that isn't the portal.
@Bloody Raiu Hmm I haven't developed much on the dormant homunculi, but some of them might be able to at least give a modotan a run for their money when combining are strength and whatever magic they were imbued with, but until I really sit down and figure out what they were made for and whatnot I won't know. Too early in the process. If they were past a certain mass they would have utilized titanosaur bodyplans since they're the most efficient for that size that the First Children had access to, so the fight would basically be 'human titanosaur hybrid vs titanosaur' lol. Barring any extreme design they wouldn't be that different from the prairie giants that are mixed with Palaeoloxodon, just bigger and with armored scales.

These two parts videos about the Portal of Kaimere, and the First Childrens themselves too, is from far the most serious and important videos of thé channel and to explain one of the biggest aspect of about what makes Kaimere and what its entire existence is based on!
We have two characters : the Great Portal and the First Childrens.
Both are marvelous, interesting, fascinating and others adjective in this way, but also a big part of negative and more obscurs/dark part and aspects of their nature !
However ! They're a Big difference between the two!
Thus the Portal is a organic lifeform (composed by many portal, who form a hive and act together as one single individual) who is capable of high realisation (almost divine) with his complex capacities/aptitudes to upgrade and optimize his own home birth planet for his legetimate comfort, but have despite all that a high intelligence and organisation who however not surpasses the one of a AI /Big computer of our world, and by this fact, made time to time mistakes without learning from his errors, the First Childrens are the opposite !
Because where the Portal is unaware of his own action, the First Childrens are completely aware and conscious of theirs.
All along their History, even shorter compared to the one of the Portal, they made only evil, nagative, dubious, cruel, non ethical bads, dissapointing actions towards everything around them on Kaimere, in a high important way !
Like manipulated people, creating hybrids (the homunculies) enslaved Kaimerans, exterminate and killing wildlife, etc... for their own self-centered profit, benefit, pleasure and comfort (worse than ours with our earth planet) and hurt badly the Portal himself by a device and force him to follow their orders.
So i'm really sad for the Portal and all thé bads things he endure from this terrible era. But happy that the First Childrens become extinct, and that Kaimere recovers and all become with time normal again like before their Golden age domination era !
How long could the first children typically live? Your modern Kaimereans are stated to regularly survive into their sixth century so I was curious about exact lifespans. Also I have to ask since I saw flying saucers and we've entered conspiracy territory with the whole Bermuda Triangle angle, are they the ones responsible for the image of the short-statured Grey aliens, their associated Nordic companions, and the stories of prominent abductions throughout history especially in the 20th century at Roswell?
Full first children lifespan isn’t known, but analysis of their skulls show they could reach at least 7 centuries. Possibly longer. They and the Homunculi they sent to harvest specimens from Earth are indeed responsible for a lot of abduction myths on Earth, from fairies to aliens.

Wow, I love learning more about how the portals work as well as getting some more background on the first children. They seem almost other worldly with their size as well as their advantages against Kamierens as well as probably humans. They seem almost like an ingenious plague upon the planet taking and making what they wanted and destroying the rest. But with their sudden extinction there figures in their toys ran loose upon the planet. Definitely a very very interesting part of Kaimeren history I would love to learn more about. And I think this might’ve helped me sort out the ancient civilization I wanted to put on my speculative continent. It wouldn’t be as vast or as powerful as the first children but it would definitely leave a big mark on the continent that wouldn’t be truly be understood by Europeans until the late 1900s.
The First Childrens descend from the Homo erectus (one of the most famous extinct specie ancestor relatives, especially known for use of tools). Outside that, on Kaimere, all the Homo erectus become a new complete specie, Homo altus (the specie name is a refference to the big size), who live outside the Known World on the Western, Northen and Eastern Continent.
But there some relical normal Homo erectus, here and here, like in the Known World, hidden from the others inhabitants.
One group of Homo erectus fuse with a group of demon and are dirige by a Thrall, their group is named the Klaeg.

It’s happened once with a plane and one man was brought through because he was rescued by the spy ship and they had to leave him at the quarantine hospital, but for the most part the Assembly actually perpetuates and exaggerated how many ships and planes are lost in the region to prevent accidental passage or discovery.

I enjoy how the First Children seem to be something between a typical hobbit or dwarf and a grey alien in the way they operate. Fascinating concept.
So, like I alway said too since some time, despite the fact that the Known World and the entire planet of Kaimere is
sufficiently full of organic life and species and that the overall ecosystem is more than stable in good health and that in fact the Portal does not need to go further to continue to take living beings on earth to fill the different ecological niches of the planet, we know definitely why this later keep it up anyway the havests.
It's simply because the First Children and their special device "The Wishtling Door" they use to him (the Portal and his hive), to make anything they want with him as their wills, hurt the Great Portal (who, I remind, is a organic lifeform hiself) by obliging and imposing it to do and perform constantly and for a good while actions that the Portal does not normally perform, often going against its own function and its own nature.
Not being used to bringing/recopying living beings and non-organic elements from the earth to Kaimere so quickly or sending things from Kaimere to the earth in the opposite direction (especially this last point which impacts its nature the most), the Portal was hightly and negatively impacted and, it's likely the case to say, confused by this treatement the First Children made to him !
So, since the extinction of the Firts Children, the Portal is more or less free again and become again an unilateral/unique way from Earth to Kaimere but takes time to fully recover from his long and hard suffering

They appears from nowhere, maybe from a island lie you said, and came to Pakardia where they first settle in the highland of this island (the spine teritory area) where they extirpate the local giants ground sloth to use the caverns and cave of these later to build a first big and properous city, but came after that because of the Pakardian to Qajar, making him their main territory, build a capital and a giant wall to prevent animals from the rest of the Western Continent and Arvel region from going to Qajar.
After that, the First Children spread everywhere here and here, in and outside the Knwon World, making numerous cities. And making many experiment and hybrids between humans and animals to their own benefit and pleasure.
Homunculies were just slaves, pets or cattle for them.

They alway known to use and manipulate magic for various uses, but their thirst for power, domination, control of everything and conquest over everything and by magic grows again and again over time. In fact, it's a rather a very good thing that their species and their civilization have completely died out, so that nothing comparable to what they did in terms of crimes and errors can be reproduced on their scales. And their ruins, the test of time and some of which will remain in place forever, forever and eternity, now serve as an example and a call for precaution and warning to the other human peoples of Kaimere, so that that none of them, by the fear that the First Children have made them suffer and always in them, do not comment on the same errors...
Amazingly well done and detailed I kinda don't the first children hunting the giant sloths to near extinction and killing animals for own gain is cruel, but I really do like this video about the whistling door as it give us an insight history of an antinct race that went extinct for unknown reasons. Watching this, the possibility that comes to my mind is that Portal deemed the First Children as too disruptive for its purposes and wiped them out without replicating them anywhere.
I have't seen the other videos on "magic" as of the time of making this comment, so perhaps this scenario is directly invalidated by the rest of the lore, but I find the idea of Portal "culling" an overly disruptive species kinda plausible.
Edit: Ah so the entire super-organism of Portal is bound by the whistling door, rather than a specific part of the swarm? That would invalidate my guess.

The Megaraptorian Oritaku is a neothenic specie, same for the Panther Parrot, an arboreal terror bird.

Or a random animal, an Indrakai or Oritaku who walk along the beach of Pakardia and discover the remain of a modern plane or boat like a ocean linner failed with corpse and any survivors, and the creature interact with the modern device who can be still worked.

Most of the hives died over time because objects can't sustain magic indefinitely. They need sustenance. Most of the flying saucers had their magic die and they decomposed naturally thousands of years ago. The 'celestial wall' of Qajar is only still alive because its covered in vegetation for the magic to eat.

Because they were on Earth they were controlled by their flying saucers rather than a main bioelectrical current like the Kaimeran homunculi so were not freed from the shutdown like the rest of their fellow creations.
