At 34:53 , wouldn't you put X = 2 into your calculator, since the Binomial CD function on the calculator calculates the probability of everything up to and including the specified X value? I plugged X = 2 into my calculator as opposed to your X = 3 and got 0.0355 rather than 0.107. I think you calculated P(X≤3), but instead should have calculated P(X
I calculated it manually. He gets it wrong a few times. Perhaps an annotation needs to be added for the mistakes otherwise valuable time will be wasted. I did it one by one on the calculator, checked the input three times. It is 0.0355. My exam board prohibits calculators with automatic probability functions.
37:50 i've done the whole calculator process and i got the same values for the lower tail but for the upper tail, my critical region was 17, since 16 = 0.8929 and 17 = 0.9645. did i miscalculate it somehow ? i was taught for the upper tail to look for 1 - SL (95% in this case) the rest of the table matches your work except those 2 and i don't know how i messed it up.
Its very subtle, it's because the doctor claimed there was a DECREASE in the number of patients, so we worked out the probability of a decrease and showed it was greater than the significance level
at 10:30 isntthe answer 91/198 becaus eyou can pick the senior first or the junior first so there is 2 ways to get both when picked at random so the answer must be x by 2
Wait that's the exact answer I got before he revealed the answer, I did it the way TL Maths taught, I really need to know which one is right and fast..
Hopefully I'm wrong but isn't there a mistake at 10:33 as there are two ways to get that probability; 35/100 * 65/99 and then also 65/100 and 35/99. Surely you would then add these two probabilities, that's the way I've been taught. Anyway this video has been super helpful tysm!
normal cd mode on calculator. lower bound is 85 and upper bound is a very big number I usually use 9x10^99 and standard deviation is sqrt(varience) so sqrt(45) and mean is 70. which gives 0.01267365942 which rounds to 0.0127

Thanks mate, wasn't taught stats properly and have mainly been revising for pure, hopefully ill at least get some right
Sorry to hear this, glad my video helped. Good luck for tomorrow, let me know how it goes!
I'll watch this after 4-5months in June/July after my AS exams.. hopefully this video will clear all my concepts of S1 ...
If you want to see how to do 27:31 on the calculator. Watch this video: ua-cam.com/users/shortsfVXHWiKUhoc?feature=share
This has really helped me before my exam tomorrow, a quick 45 minute revision, thank you great video
Glad it helped good luck tomorrow
what exam was there 4 months again

the mechanics one was really helpful so thanks for doing this :)
No worries! Glad you liked it!

No, you don't calculate x = 2. You calculate P(X≤2). I think he got mixed up with normal distribution because it doesn't matter if you have ≤ or

Nah you've got this! Let me know how it goes
I thought the helicopter was over our house 😂
34:10 How do you know if the found probability has to be greater than or less than to deduce whether or not to accept or reject the null hypothesis?
Compare it with the significance level. Keep in a mind a two tailed test means u half it
Got about two and a half weeks 🤞
On the page at 37:35 , how did you know you had to work out those probabilities for the lower tail and upper tail? Like where did p(x17) come from?
Ur saving my maths grade thank you so much
You are welcome! Glad you found it useful
i feel like i always mix up pd and cd - honestly terrified for tuesday
If in doubt use cd, it's rarely pd
@@DrJamesMaths thank you ! when are the instances to use pd ?
@@amirah3791 when you are trying to find the probability of a single value ie p(X=a), whereas cd is p(Xa)

Yeah great question! Common misconception, it is hinted at earlier in the video but you need to do 1-p(X
@@DrJamesMaths thank you so much ! i was so confused, this video has helped a lot 🤍 i’m awful at this section but this was super easy to follow

pls may i ask why, at 35:53 we are not using P(X=3)? As I thought the question said there is only 3 person waited 10+mins. Thank you.

there is an error at 33:35 , if youre testing p(x
I think it's a bad
sir your teaching is awesome and btw your voice is amazing , i suggest you give a try voicing in anime
27:04 why is it 25 and not 6?
10:42 could it not also be the other way round aswell? So a senior then a junior? (So we do (65/100) * (35/99) + 91/396?)
Yes using the "OR" rule doesn't matter which order you do it
I'm cooked
do you know if there is a textbook for 9ST0 statistics because I can't find one
Hi Dr James, would it be possible to do a Statistics A-Level paper (9st0) walkthrough? Thank you!
I tell you what, if I get to 1000 subs by 16th of October, I will go through any paper of your choosing

does this include all of AS?
Yeah it does, I didn't go into as much detail with the AS topics though

how did you get the values of -1.0364 and 1.6449? I use a CG50
use inverse normal
Area 0.15 and 0.95
SD 1
Mean 0
@29.02, where do you get that value from
Sigma = Square root of (15^2/5)
Mew = 70
And use normal CD

Superb 🎉
is this for edexel or aqa maths?
It covers all basis, stats and Mechanics are pretty similar for applied maths
