I came back to this video after a long time of not watching it and i really wanted to thank you for making it. I found this a couple of years ago when I was going through a really tough time in my life and I used to watch this video quite a lot because it genuinely helped take some of the pain away for a bit because I related to it heavily. I am doing a lot better nowadays thankfully but I am really glad that I found this at a time I really needed it :)

ItsATwinThing of course! As a fellow video editor, I really admire people that are good at editing. Especially when they're wayyy better at it than I am 🤗
FredxGeorge64 Trust me I'm not way better. I think the key to growing as an editor is to just watch back your work and really look objectively at it and ask yourself what you could have improved, what you would do differently if you made it again? My edits aren't perfect and I'm striving to improve with every edit. I enjoy looking at edits and analysing why certain things worked and what I thought didn't work so well and try and learn from that to improve my editing whilst still keeping my style intact. For example, I am a very voiceover/quote heavy editor. Sometimes I put WAY too many quotes in and would benefit from removing some. I'm working on balancing that but it's hard for me. I'm also very into timing and rhythm sometimes I take it too literally and need to learn to let it go I know that now and it's something I'm experimenting with. So just find your niche work on them and you'll get there. We're both works in progress. Own it! ^-^
ItsATwinThing I'm actually working on that too. Except I want to start adding in more quotes and matching the rhythm of the music to the video. I've been watching my videos over and over a lot and I'm trying to pinpoint what I like that I did in a certain video and what I didn't. Like, it's hard for me to make videos with fast paced music and add in awesome effects. I have so much respect for editors that can do amazing effects and stuff. Like there's a Draco Malfoy edit to the song Everything Black and it's so awesome the effects are *amazing*. I want to be that good at editing one day.
