Given that Sly 4 may not have been critically well received still though honestly the Sly story line needs to be finished, I mean hey they may have messed up with Sly 4 but they can learn from their mistakes about it and make it better for the 5th game and here's an idea, the story would continue on with more time travel like obviously Bentley, Murray, and Carmelita need to go back in time to Egypt to rescue Sly and given that's where one of Sly's ancestors is from Slytunkhamen I and according to the Sly Cooper wiki he was the creator of the Theivius Raccoonus and along with his son Slytunkhamen II who created the ability of invisibility. I obviously don't have an idea on who or what would the villains be, but I do know it can continue on with meeting and playing the remaining ancestors such as Sleigh MacCooper in Celtic Scotland in the 15th century, Henriette "One Eye" Cooper somewhere in the Caribbean in the 17th century, Thaddeus Winslow Cooper in Victoria era London, and Otto van Cooper somewhere in Europe in the 1910s or 1920s possibly maybe Belgium or Germany since they already did the France in Sly 2 and the Netherlands in Sly 3. Another idea to go with that would be upgrading of some of the mechanics from Sly 3 into this one with more improved and awesome dogfights and pirate ship battles with Henriette and Otto and also using Otto's turret from Sly 1. All in all there is fan demand for Sly Cooper to continue and be concluded properly so Sony should hear the fans and finish it nuff said.
I think they will make a new sly cooper game, but not right now since semi open world platform games aren't as popular as it used to be like the ps2 era, but big open world games right now are losing people there interest and in a few years semi open world platform game will become on demand again. My guess is that it will probably take till 2025 before they will announce sly 5 and will come out around 2027.

But yeah we'll see how it goes with a much more open world considering since Sly 2 it's been open world and plus the clue bottles helped garner that sense of exploration around the maps. I think some people would just assume open world thing is something aligned with games like Fortnite and brawler games that are online only but I see what you're saying though.
